I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

If Elon wasn’t here, we’d be at least 20years behind in terms of EVs and space travel.
We would probably not get to Mars in our lifetime without Elon
20 years in EV and more like 50 years in space travel.
We need more highly driven entrepreneurial technologists who take on the biggest challenges.
There would be no EVs without Elon.
Elon cannot do it all. There is no Tesla (at the size it is now) without a strong group of leaders dealing with the day to day push needed keep decarbonizing the transport industry globally! That is the point. Of course none of this would exist without Elon. The question is can Elon evolve to managing a company of global scale and scope. I have my doubts with these moves.
Wow. Love how there is no apparent agenda with gotcha questions, etc to make clickbait from. Just insiteful questions based on curiosity, joy, and wondor for the work Elon is doing.
He's been consistent for many years -- not sure I'd be able to repeat myself so much over so much time. Respect

My Tesla 2024 model 3 Highland is the best product I ever bought! Anytime I’m having a bad day i just look at my car and I have a big shit eating grin on my face in seconds. It was the same with the last Tesla I bought and I have never wanted any other car since. Other cars now feel like fisher price toys in comparison ❤
It's clear that in the face of severe economic decisions, Elon's experience with desperation has taught him the tough economic discipline necessary to weather the challenges. You can imagine why he fired the supercharger team when the downsizing didn't happen fast enough. As CEO, he layed out a priority for the management, but if she resisted, then he must step in and force the execution of that task.Otherwise, it may impact other priorities that he had planned. That is why he is such an effective CEO. Better pay the man to keep his expertise at Tesla! Vote your shareholders' votes!!
Government would sue him for having a monopoly on charging stations, understandable why he slowed it down.

Exactly! My grandparents were so frugal but they had a TON of money on both sides. I remember my grandfather telling me "you want to make money while you sleep." And I guess that attitude passed down to my dad (RIP), because I remember going to his house one day and I had bought something I really liked, so I wanted to show it to him. So I said "Look at this! Isn't it cute? It was on sale...I saved 50%!" My dad replied "Well, if you're spending, you're not saving." Obviously I had no retort, and that has always stuck with me.
Saving and investing wisely while prioritizing necessities and a few small luxuries in relation to one's total assets is a great approach. It helps ensure financial stability and I my for the enjoyment of life's little pleasures without compromising long-term financial goals. It's all about finding a balance that works for you!

Inspiring and driven. He seems to have good intensions and wants to make a positive impact on the world.
he has balance, focus, goals and a plan to improve life in general ...the skill sets to achieve all that .... or teams up with the people who do ... determination and the ability to overcome difficulties/mistakes/problems ... not to mention a fairly decent parent and business person ... not afraid to admit he is not perfect/ or has weaknesses ... etc etc encourages/challenges others to be their best... has a sense of humor ... in spite of his warts .... has pushed (is pushing) forward to achieve something that is meaningful for himself, his family and people in general etc ... if Isaac Asimov had been a businessman (I-robot/the Foundation Trilogy) he might have been a little like Elon - God Bless !

Not just the investors though, stock buy backs also benefit the sitting board and exec teams as most of their comp is paid out in stock&options. Yet somehow this isn't considered crooked or sketchy? Take the taxpayer funds&bailouts, use that for stock buybacks, stiff the workers and everyone with a golden parachute laughs all the way to the bank. Rinse n repeat! 😏
yes buybacks increase the stock price for all stockholders which does increase the same executives compensation who decided to do the buybacks, companies have to be careful though because they can be disrupted if they don't keep their eye on the ball. Now faster than ever. Yes companies like GM will most likely continue to get government dollars when the next crash happens and wealth will further concentrate to those who can buy distressed assets. My issue is that we have let FANG get so large that they have the ability to purchase the competition
The interviewer is key to this conversation. Western interviews are usually ruined by the agenda of the interviewer. Walter Isaacson's book was so good.

Well the older Elon Musk contradict the young one. Currently his 'great electric cars' are not so effordable. Tesla should have predicted that in 2021. Now three and a half years later he does not have a product that can compete with Hybrid cars.

Maybe because it's before the Model S and Space X, but he's talking about autonomous cars and using Mars as a backup plan, just as he does today. Visionary who puts his money where his mouth is.
