PS2 still looks good in 2021, which is 16 years after it's release. That's insane. I think it's the same way movies like the Godfather, etc. still hold up. When it's true art, it transcends time, but I never saw an example of it in video games until now. A special game.

And this is actually footage from the remaster on ps3, which had many effects like depth of field and particles and motion blur, eliminated or half implemented. The original ps2 game (except for resolution of course) is even more gorgeous.

tuvo mala calidad porque su hardware era debil comparado con el gamecube y xbox, los ports que recibia por lo general eran inferiores, comparen la version de ps2 de resident evil 4 con la version original de gamecube por ejemplo

Veo el de PS4 y me parece más artificial. Me gusta más el aspecto gris y oscuro de las piedras y cómo consiguen el efecto del medioambiente en la PS2, éso si que es un trabajazo. A veces en los remasters o remakes se pasan dándole nitidez a todo y hasta parece que las piedras, personajes brillan, creen que todo se basa en el color.

Min 1:05-07 la parte dónde está el personaje con la piedra, parece más irreal (más marcada la piedra y más iluminada) que el fondo dónde está el Coloso, Min 1:42 de PS4 también, angulosa la piedra haciendo distinción entre coloso y personaje (con esto me refiero a que parece que se han pasado con ciertos detalles remarcando la diferencia entre coloso y personaje, cuando antes era todo un conjunto estético, han ido aplicando filtros por partes). No voy a entrar en detalles personales de si tengo o dejo de tener dinero para algo, creo que la discusión aquí va centrada en el aspecto del juego. Estoy entre PS4 y Switch.

Estoy de acuerdo con lo del min 1:07 de la piedra, pero eso no es culpa de la alta fidelidad ni de la iluminación de las remakes. La textura es diferente y la vieja por mas baja resolución que era estaba mejor trabajada. Con el resto nada, para mi la remake se ve muchísimo mejor y no noto la misma artificialidad. En la comparación lado a lado de 1:45 hay 2 cosas diferentes que juegan, la niebla y el enfoque. La niebla se usa mucho en juegos (y se usaba muchísimo mas en ese entonces) para cargar las texturas lejanas en menor resolución sin que se vean mal, para tener un mejor rendimiento. Justamente si se trata de hacerlo con mejor sentido entonces es mejor que la niebla este alrededor de las piernas del coloso (porque es la tierra que levanta con sus pasos) y no en todos lados. El enfoque es una decision estética en la remake, y para mi tiene mas sentido que la version original. En PS4 enfoca al coloso porque Wander es el protagonista y el esta centrado en el coloso, entonces la cámara hace lo mismo. De todas formas es un trailer y no creo que en el gameplay sea así, seria desconcertante jugar y que el personaje que estas moviendo se desenfoque.

I currently don't own a PS3 or a PS4, but I'm considering getting a PS4 Pro if I can play the remastered on it.

Me sorprende lo bien que se sigue viendo el juego original de PS2. Supuestamente este Shadow of the Colossus es un remake según Sony pero tiene pinta que es más como Ocarina of Time 3D, el mismo juego pero con assets nuevos, nueva iluminación y modelos con un poco más de polígonos.

eso mismo, igual esta sorprendente, un verdadero remake en condiciones para ponerlo en la liga de uncharted 4 o horizon hubiera sido mejor (igual las animaciones faciales de horizon dejan mucho que desear, TODO lo demas esta excelente. uncharted 4 el juego es aburrido a mas no poder pero graficamente es IMPECABLE)

I think PS2 wins even though it had a worse framerate and crappy textures. why? because the art style is in tact. The glowing light you see everywhere is dreamlike. The mysterious background you can never quite reach because its so blurry and out of vision makes exploring more worth it. The color scheme and the film-grain feel nostalgic and make you ask questions. The ps2 graphics are the idea of the thing, but not the thing itself. Imagination fills in the gaps better than graphics ever could

Seeing this game before your eyes in your living room on a 55'+ TV will truly TRULY shock you just how improved these graphics are over the PS2 version. I LOVED the PS2 version when it came out and I might love it just as much or even more when I get it on PS4. Para mi uno de los mejores juegos de ps2 pero ni de puta coña este remake vale 60 pavos, y lo que es peor en ps3 valia 40 este shadow of the colossus mas el ICO juntos los 2 por 40 euros en el mismo disco. Ese si me parece un precio justo pero 60 solo por este remake?? Ni de coña, la industria esta como esta por culpa de gente como tu que ataca a otros, les insulta y defiende políticas de sacar dinero a la gente. Además quien te crees que eres tu pa andar llamando míserable a nadie faltoso. still love the ps2 version more. I guess its a nostalgic thing. But this was one of the earliest games i played on my ps2 and loved the experience.Brings back memories.the ps4 i thing still has a lot more to do to be nearly as good and historic as the ps2.At the time of ps2 and ps1 pc gaming was shit or at least nowhere near playstation or xbox titles now its a different case.Except for exclusives all titiles are released for the pc as well.And the pc is multipurpose device much like the ps2 also being a dvd player.PS2 Rocked and now is apart of gaming history.

Con respecto a la comparación, si, es claro el paso de gráfica de ps2 a ps4, me gustaría ver mas de ps3 a ps4, porque algo me hace ruido, admito que si sale oficialmente lo mas probable es que tarde o temprano lo termine comprando, porque soy fangirl del team ico... pero... mmm aun no me convence del todo. PS2 still looks good in 2021, which is 16 years after it's release. That's insane. I think it's the same way movies like the Godfather, etc. still hold up. When it's true art, it transcends time, but I never saw an example of it in video games until now. A special game.

And this is actually footage from the remaster on ps3, which had many effects like depth of field and particles and motion blur, eliminated or half implemented. The original ps2 game (except for resolution of course) is even more gorgeous.
I will always be amazed at the programmers who made this game work on ps2. I know from personal experience that it takes true wizards to achieve something like this.

PS2, better shadow and dust lighting effects but the PS4 has better sharpness and smoothness, never played shadow of the Colossus but I am going to get it for my PS2!! Looks bloody beautiful on both consoles!!!

Veo el de PS4 y me parece más artificial. Me gusta más el aspecto gris y oscuro de las piedras y cómo consiguen el efecto del medioambiente en la PS2, éso si que es un trabajazo. A veces en los remasters o remakes se pasan dándole nitidez a todo y hasta parece que las piedras, personajes brillan, creen que todo se basa en el color.
Daniel Gomez Pallares creo q tu comentario quiso decir no puedo comprarme el juego para ps4 y le digo que es feo y q se ve mejor en ps2 aunque no sea verdad :v
Min 1:05-07 la parte dónde está el personaje con la piedra, parece más irreal (más marcada la piedra y más iluminada) que el fondo dónde está el Coloso, Min 1:42 de PS4 también, angulosa la piedra haciendo distinción entre coloso y personaje (con esto me refiero a que parece que se han pasado con ciertos detalles remarcando la diferencia entre coloso y personaje, cuando antes era todo un conjunto estético, han ido aplicando filtros por partes). No voy a entrar en detalles personales de si tengo o dejo de tener dinero para algo, creo que la discusión aquí va centrada en el aspecto del juego. Estoy entre PS4 y Switch.
Min 1:45, mira como cubre la niebla al coloso en PS2, las ropas de Wander están más detalladas. No se trata de añadir iluminación y detalles, se trata de hacerlo con mejor sentido

Estoy de acuerdo con lo del min 1:07 de la piedra, pero eso no es culpa de la alta fidelidad ni de la iluminación de las remakes. La textura es diferente y la vieja por mas baja resolución que era estaba mejor trabajada. Con el resto nada, para mi la remake se ve muchísimo mejor y no noto la misma artificialidad. En la comparación lado a lado de 1:45 hay 2 cosas diferentes que juegan, la niebla y el enfoque. La niebla se usa mucho en juegos (y se usaba muchísimo mas en ese entonces) para cargar las texturas lejanas en menor resolución sin que se vean mal, para tener un mejor rendimiento. Justamente si se trata de hacerlo con mejor sentido entonces es mejor que la niebla este alrededor de las piernas del coloso (porque es la tierra que levanta con sus pasos) y no en todos lados. El enfoque es una decision estética en la remake, y para mi tiene mas sentido que la version original. En PS4 enfoca al coloso porque Wander es el protagonista y el esta centrado en el coloso, entonces la cámara hace lo mismo. De todas formas es un trailer y no creo que en el gameplay sea así, seria desconcertante jugar y que el personaje que estas moviendo se desenfoque.

Me sorprende lo bien que se sigue viendo el juego original de PS2. Supuestamente este Shadow of the Colossus es un remake según Sony pero tiene pinta que es más como Ocarina of Time 3D, el mismo juego pero con assets nuevos, nueva iluminación y modelos con un poco más de polígonos.
eso mismo, igual esta sorprendente, un verdadero remake en condiciones para ponerlo en la liga de uncharted 4 o horizon hubiera sido mejor (igual las animaciones faciales de horizon dejan mucho que desear, TODO lo demas esta excelente. uncharted 4 el juego es aburrido a mas no poder pero graficamente es IMPECABLE)

I think PS2 wins even though it had a worse framerate and crappy textures. why? because the art style is in tact. The glowing light you see everywhere is dreamlike. The mysterious background you can never quite reach because its so blurry and out of vision makes exploring more worth it. The color scheme and the film-grain feel nostalgic and make you ask questions. The ps2 graphics are the idea of the thing, but not the thing itself. Imagination fills in the gaps better than graphics ever could
The incredible thing to see is how advanced the ps2 graphics were at the time, the new one looks amazing but the ps2 one is really not that far behind except in definition

PS2 still looks great, it shows what art direction can do even with system limitation. Many people don't remember though but game was running on really low framerate constantly droping to single digit in colossus fights.

Seeing this game before your eyes in your living room on a 55'+ TV will truly TRULY shock you just how improved these graphics are over the PS2 version. I LOVED the PS2 version when it came out and I might love it just as much or even more when I get it on PS4. I feel like I may get a close enough feeling to experiencing this world again for the first time...:/

Buena comparativa aún siendo ps2 se sigue viendo bastante bien, de hecho lo estoy jugando en Play 2. Lo único se nota que le cuesta mover eso se ve en la fluidez del juego, da tirones sobre todo en las peleas pero aún así me está encantando el juego
En Amazon se puede reservar por 60 euros casi, un timo en el caso de que no añadan más colosos...
Carlos Bravo no lo compres entonces, pero no digas que es un timo este remake, ya que el mismo fumito ueda señaló que con 16 se hicieron y se quedan y está perfecto tal como está. Para mí solo eres un miserable que no puede pagar los 60 dólares de los juegos.

still love the ps2 version more. I guess its a nostalgic thing. But this was one of the earliest games i played on my ps2 and loved the experience.Brings back memories.the ps4 i thing still has a lot more to do to be nearly as good and historic as the ps2.At the time of ps2 and ps1 pc gaming was shit or at least nowhere near playstation or xbox titles now its a different case.Except for exclusives all titiles are released for the pc as well.And the pc is multipurpose device much like the ps2 also being a dvd player.PS2 Rocked and now is apart of gaming history.

Con respecto a la comparación, si, es claro el paso de gráfica de ps2 a ps4, me gustaría ver mas de ps3 a ps4, porque algo me hace ruido, admito que si sale oficialmente lo mas probable es que tarde o temprano lo termine comprando, porque soy fangirl del team ico... pero... mmm aun no me convence del todo.
