for anyone wonder this doesn't hurt the cow and his hoof will grow back again soon it will take time him doing this for the cow helps it so much! AS i said it doesn’t hurt but if he goes deeper he would probably have given some numbing cream to help him relax and calm down as you can see he isn’t squirming around being loud/noise

@@guhrizzlybaireiit would really only hurt if he went farther than he goes. You’d know if it hurt the cow as the cow would be thrashing around. It’s basically like a super thick nail, so he can go down to the nail bed. Like cutting your fingernails and going a bit too far hurts. He goes just shy of that so it doesn’t hurt the cow. And it’s better to have the infection heal properly

most animals that have hoofs are basically walking on their fingernails. I you have ever had a damaged nail that should help you understand the amount of pain she was in, and how awesome she felt when he was done with her. I worked on a dairy farm as a kid and have seen these things happen. The worst was when there was a piece of gravel inside. She wouldn't leave the vet alone once she was released from the clamp.

I dropped a can on my big toe once. Swelled up horribly and is one of the worst pains Ive ever experienced, like nauseating pain even with the slightest touch. The doc had to burn a hole thru the top of my nail, was terrified how bad it would hurt since my toe was already so tender. I cannot even express tge amount of instant relief just from releasing that pressure, pus squirted out the same way as this cow, just not quite the volume. Omg better than anything Ive ever felt. I can only imagine the instant relief these poor cows feel when you fix their hooves

Most of the time we can't do anything, we aren't just trying to provide for one animal, we are providing for multiple. Also maybe the trimmer couldn't show up immediately, they are busy people. Think about it from all angles
Most abscesses like these spring up very quickly. Usually it starts with a white line defect (the space between the outer and inner hoof horn) which can be a small bit uncomfortable but most of the time it's like having a bruise. Ouchy but it doesn't hinder anything. However, as soon as bacteria gets in to the white line defect, the immune system erupts and Bam, abscess. I've seen a orange sized abscess on an animal pop up in a matter of a couple hours
Cattle are what's known as prey animals. They will not show any signs of pain or illness for the longest time. Preditors target the weak.
