  • Just as reliable as the tacoma and cheaper. I still love tacomas but when i bought my frontier is was essentially 8k less than a taco with same year and miles. Take the extra money and have fun upgrading the frontier

  • Great design and overall functional, but, a fresh air snorkel would have erased doubts crossing streams. So, did you like dealing with Alldogs Offroad outfit? Did they ship the parts and you installed them yourself? I was looking at replacing my factory suspension with the Koni 90 Series Raid Shocks for 2d Gen Nissan Frontier. But, looking for some shop to get it done.

    @tonycerviver2123@tonycerviver2123Ай бұрын
    • I don’t think anyone makes a snorkel for this truck yet, I think they are kind of more for mitigating dust and crap from entering the intake. I would probably have to make sure everything is waterproof before doing anything like past the rocker panels. I do have the ADO rear differential breather. As for ADO I have only had good experiences with my interactions with them, they are always very attentive to your needs. They answered all my questions I ever asked, no matter how dumb. I did run the Koni 82 series previously and I loved it so I can only imagine the 90 series performs even better. Do you have extra weight like steel bumpers etc? If not I’d say get the 82’s, you can always ask them what they think would ride good for you etc with your specific setup. Changing out the struts and shocks is super easy, if you can I’d suggest doing it yourself you’ll learn a thing or two and if you get the struts pre assembled you literally pop out the current setup and swap them right in.

  • Nice truck man. do your rear leaf springs squeak at all?

    @monocogenit1@monocogenit1Ай бұрын
    • Haha yea, I noticed the Parabolics squeak a lot. I have gotten used to it. Once it warms up I may take it all apart and clean and re-grease the bushings.

      @D41Mallcrawler@D41MallcrawlerАй бұрын
    • @@D41Mallcrawler that's what I did. Thought they needed grease. So I greased all the bushings. Still squeaked. And typically, rubber bushes don't need a lot of grease, poly does, not rubber. So, then I used spray white lithium grease, applied to the ends of the two springs, where the metal on metal rubs, after those little plastic disc pads break(in about 6 months). And the squeak stopped. Just have to apply the spray grease about once a month. Use the little straw to apply the lube directly between the two metal springs, on each end.

I will say though I honestly love the blue they offer now it looks like the 2nd Gen Blue they used to offer.

  • I have the sv model and while I enjoy being sneaky and creeping with my lights off at night, the LED daytime running lights might be all around safer in general. I also want a side step just to make it easier for my wife to get in and out with heels without me worrying too much about her getting in and out. And once I have the side steps I might as well get the roof rack. Which may throw off my fantastic 25 mpg I’ve been getting with just my hard tri fold bed cover. I can’t really think of much I would actually put on the roof of the truck other than a ladder. Maybe for a camping trip I do once or twice a year but as far as daily, I would probably just have a ladder and make space for other tools in the bed.

    @spidey56765@spidey5676522 күн бұрын
    • Yea with all this crap on the truck when I have fully loaded up for camping, with my pelican box and water port up there etc I average from 14-18mpg. Which comparatively speaking isn’t bad compared to most mid sized trucks.

  • Any issue with the Z1 Filter not sealing against the grommet at the intake box? It seems mine will move around a bit and then it doesn't seal properly and will pull warm air from the engine. Not ideal.

    @jasenswick7725@jasenswick7725Ай бұрын
    • It does have a bit of play, I do check it regularly though to ensure it does seal to the best of its ability. It makes me wonder if maybe they have improved the grommet design. To be completely honest the entire housing doesn’t exactly fit tight/secure. Maybe it was designed that way to allow for movement, if you off the beaten path and you truck is all over the place idk though.

    @Garlander@GarlanderАй бұрын
    • You either need a relay for the circuit or solder in a diode. The amperage will burn out the switch surprisingly. I wasn’t aware of that when I initially installed them and used just the normal harness that came with my older heretic harness for the ditch lights. Was just a power and ground to the switch and power out to the lights.

  • Jus curious but can these trucks not be lifted enough to clear these size tires without cutting?

    @JamesM0M@JamesM0MАй бұрын
    • 285/70r17 fits with just trimming the fender flares in the bottom area of the wheel well. Once you go bigger than that though you’ll run into rubbing issues. I think Tacomas and every other midsize truck also need to do some type of modification for larger tires.

      @D41Mallcrawler@D41MallcrawlerАй бұрын
    • Im coming from a jeep and considering the frontier over a tacoma. Just not into cutting anything. You can fit 37’s stock a sport gladiator with no cutting. So was curious if theres a lift out for these yet big enough to get away with no cutting

      @JamesM0M@JamesM0MАй бұрын
    • @@JamesM0M ohhh yea that’s a big difference coming from a Jeep. You can realistically get away with 33’s on the mid sized trucks before running into running issues etc. if you wanted to fit 37’s on these trucks I think you need to make considerable modifications to the wheel wells. I think most lifts for the Frontiers range from 2-3.5” and then there is a 6” kit from rough country, but that lift requires you to cut the cross member and there’s no going back after that. I opted for an adjustable setup that’s set to roughly 3” now, I do get slight rub at full lock under full compression. Now granted you can play around with different wheel offsets etc.

      @D41Mallcrawler@D41MallcrawlerАй бұрын

      @eddiehaskell5578@eddiehaskell5578Ай бұрын
    • On the 6" kit, you can put on 35s. There's another channel that's done it, and wheels it. Mind you, it's Florida wheelin, but offroad nonetheless. If you want 35s, 37s, best to get the gladiator. Cv axles don't hold up well to all that unsprung weight

    @nitroxide17@nitroxide17Ай бұрын
    • yea, it's just surface rust. I was considering wire brushing them and repainting them, but I think if I am consistent with Fluid Film each winter it should remain the same. Those have been through 3 northeast winters and an assload of road salt and sand. I m pretty sure anything will have some type of surface rust and wear from that.

  • Doubt it will be a Tacoma killer. Maybe and a big maybe a good runner up. Second place behind the Tacoma.

    @kendramckenna7312@kendramckenna731225 күн бұрын
    • Who knows honestly, it seems a lot of people are leery of the newer powertrain/drivetrain of them. I could be wrong here but I think the Frontier puts down the most power for midsized trucks with NA engines. With the pro4x trim too, you would be hard pressed to find a truck in that price range with those options.

      @D41Mallcrawler@D41Mallcrawler25 күн бұрын
    • @@D41Mallcrawleryou do have very valid points. The frontier is a solid truck with a lot to offer. I think there are too many Tacoma fanboys. I think Toyota would be the Tacoma killer by the make over of the Tacoma. Doesn’t seem that the male over is a hit. We will see.
