This is it folks, we FINALLY have the keys to our dream home in Ireland! We cannot wait to share this ancient traditional stone cottage with you, and we can now give you the full house tour!
It's going to be quite the restoration project, as we attempt to take this little Irish cottage back to its original state (with some modern comforts of course) but the plan is to use traditional as much as possible materials such as lime plaster and horse hair!
It's going to be quite the learning curve, and one hell of a journey, but we are hoping to make our little homestead as off grid as possible as we build a life in remote Ireland, we do hope you're coming along for the ride, something tells me its gonna get interesting.. hit subscriber to see how we go!

I'm a grown man of 52 this year and I will admit to having happy tears in my eyes watching this, your complete happiness and joy. I will probably never get to live my dreams so you go girls and live it for me, so heartwarmingly happy for all 4 of you x.

The Excitement and Happiness you are both giving out in this video brought tears to the eyes of this old man. I haven't seen anyone so happy for so many years you two are just a joy to see. Thanks for allowing me to see how great life can be after all the stresses youve endured on the way to this fantastic day. Change the locks Lou. Em will never feel safe there alone without you putting a decent lock on the door. Grandad advice - always change the locks you never know who has been handed a copy of the old ones.

Congratulation girls. Myself and my wife we are Polish but living in Ireland for the last 20 years, so we call ourselves Irish by now :-) Only 3 years ago we fulfilled our dream of a house in the countryside. We are only 10mins form the next small town, but the house in nature is amazing especially having 3 year old twin girls which enjoy the surroundings a lot. Ireland is beautiful and people here can't compare with any other country they are just amazing. Weather could be better ,but you can't have everything in your life :-)

You can see that AJ and Summer KNOW that this is their house and they are so glad to have the space. Your new place is gorgeous. I know it will take a lot of work but that will only prove to make it more "YOURS".

I’m 1st generation American. Dad from Co Tyrone Mom from Dublin. They brought all 6 kids from Brooklyn to Trillick Co Tyrone in 1970 to an old Station House in the middle of the country -no electricity. We survived and were stronger for it. Looking at the tour, I can see why you love it. Two things to comment on: best not to have fitted units in the kitchen. Solid walled buildings need air movement up to their walls, and you really don't want condensation, mould and inaccessible dust building up behind fitted units. Secondly, don't obsess about level floors. A six inch fall across a room's floor wasn't unusual or a matter of concern. Generally, floors fell toeards the door for easier swooshing out, but not always. Just collect bits of wood to put under furniture to level it.
My tip is dont gut everything to start with, i did that and ended up taking nearly 2yrs before i could move in. I would suggest concentrate on the outbuildings, do the workshop you will need it, do the office space so you have somewhere comfortable in the day and evenings, dont touch the bath and the kitchen till last. Sleep in the van if worried about the mould, and then even though you are ripping the walls, try to concentrate on a room at a time. Obviously roof first but you know that already. Also the damp could just be as its empty.. if you get the fires working and heat clean and air it, it might be okay

So happy to see your new project, thank you for sharing with us. We live in a 200 year old cottage which my hubby has lovingly restored over 35 years. ( total job, at one stage we only had soil on the floor, 3 1/2 external walls and stars twinkling through the sheeting covering where the roof and timbers once were). It’s going to be a hard slog but so satisfying. Looking forward to joining you on your journey.

If you let your cat roam,there is a big possibility she will disappear,and not come back,you could build her a big cat run outside,where she will have access to fresh air and sunshine and be able to watch the birds,in safety.

I did restoration of old homes wth my partner for twenty years. You learn as you go, and it is worth every moment in the end.

Great to find somewhere to settle down. I lived in County Kerry for 2.5 years and renovated a 50's bungalow. The Irish people are so warm and friendly. Your bedroom with the different floor levels was probably 2 rooms with corner fireplaces. Our 1950's bungalow had a corner fireplace in each backing onto each other like yours, but with dividing wall to separate the rooms. Have a look in the loft above to see the chimney, may be more modern block built chimney.
