    • He def had an Ali like amateur style that worked well here vs a younger Spence, I’d say bud could watch this but brook did a similar style for 8 or so rds successfully , but eventually energy is part of the game, this Kazakh fought like a real welterweight manny, Spence seems to have issues even back here losing his mouthpiece 😊

  • So many silly comments. Guys, this is olympic boxing. In Comparison to the "pro" boxing, this is nearly another kind of sports. Kazakstans boxers are one of the best in the olympic boxing, while none of them, only Golovkin or Kostya Tszyu, turn pro. Sapiyev is definetly the better olympic boxer, but spence is doing good as a pro. So he did the right thing turning pro while Sapiyev retired after his gold medal in London 2012. He won everything, World Chamiponships and the Olympics. Also in the former sovjet nations you already make big money as a successful olympic, while in america only as a pro.

    • +Diego Gonzalez maybe, but the pros are a different games, he wouldnt be able to keep this pace up in a 12 round fight. Look at Zou Shiming dude won how many golds? Not saying he'd lose to Spence, but we have to take in consideration how amateur and pros are a completely different sprot.

While skill is necessary to to have an eventful number of fights and/or career, nothing holds your feet to that fire like turning pro. Olympic boxing is an inaccurate example of crowning the best fighter in the world. Example, lomchenko.... great fighter, but been exposed when shown professional adversity. Example, size and ruggedness of Salido welcomed him to the pros.

    • @@ba10mob69 lol the Olympics and the pros aren't exactly the same my guy. Sapiev was great in Olympics but as a pro it may of been very different as Sapie v was good at point fighting and not used to experienced pros. There's many examples of Olympians with tons of wins facing severe difficulty their first or 2nd pro fight. On top of that Spence has improved greatly and has learned how to adjust to that. Sapiev is not better than Chris or Bundu with no pro level experience. He'll, if we're being realistic Spence even started to figure Sapiev out towards the end of the fight and catch him with hard shots..in which no one like to talks about. Sapiev was great as an Olympian but in the pros he's be flat on his back.

  • Sapiyev's footwork is crazy!! On Fight Night his footspeed would have a 100 rating, easy! lol. Reminds me of Pacquiao's footwork, but with better overall control and more dynamic. He moves wherever the hell wants in that ring. It's a shame most of these European amateur greats don't turn pro. • You & I agree more than we disagree, but I'm not sure you give Sapiyev his due credit. In this match, I think he commands the action. Spence seems off-balance & unable to cope w/ his jitterbugging. And those pitty-pat punches land w/ enough frequency & accuracy to open a cut on Spence's face. (You're right, though: the mad dash is comical, but I blame the ref for interfering w/ the action.) Spence v. Sap. II could happen in London later this week. We'll see if Spence can adapt. Cheers, mate!

  • Sapiyev reminds me of Lomachenko with the in and out side to side. Yes amateur and pro are different because in amateur the rounds are short and you win on points so they can fight at that frenetic pace. Spence has improved since then. Spence is a boxer puncher so in a short fight he may get tagged and lose rounds on points if he doesn't get off first. All he needs to do is get off first and anyone he faces is in for a long night as a pro. In the pros you can win the battle but lose the war if you gas out. Sapiyev was quick asf though. Nice upload!

  • I am befuddled by the comments deriding Sapiyev's mad dash @ 11:36. Sapiyev employs a style that relies on constant back-and-forth & side-to-side movement. To be effective, therefore, he must be able to shuffle, pivot, & dart in all directions at any given moment. At this point, you'll notice that the referee walks right into the fighter's line of retreat, which forces Sapiyev out of his rhythm & trips him up a little. It looks silly for sure, but he did what was necessary to reset himself.
