Harvesting Corn with two of the Worlds Largest Combines.
Harvesting Corn with two of the Worlds Largest Combines.
In this video I am out in a corn field with a family farm that is wrapping up their 2023 corn harvest. This farm has a nice lineup of equipment and the machines being used in this video are.
John Deere X9 1100 Combine with 24 row Drago corn head
Fendt Ideal 10T Combine with 24 row GTS corn head
John Deere 9RX 640 Tractor pulling a Brent 2096 Grain Cart
John Deere 9R 640 Tractor pulling a Brent 2996 Grain Cart
This farm is based in Northwest Ohio and Farms in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. The field they are in is near Fremont Indiana and the Indiana Turnpike can be seen in the background throughout this video. I was told there was an accident at a toll booth on the Ohio Turnpike that caused the backup you see in the eastbound lane.
I have also done a soybean harvest and some tillage videos from this same farm and will include the links to some of those videos at the end of this one.
Thanks for watching and supporting my KZhead channel and feel free to Like, Comment and Subscribe.

Nothing like being out in a field harvesting. I envy you guys! Stay with it. No matter who the president is!
Mike Van Mill started Brent grain cart manufacturing in 1973 in Shell Rock, Iowa. Today the largest capacity grain cart is in Brent Avalanche which can hold 2500 bushels. This is 1000 bushels more than a semi is allowed to carry. BTW, I have the privilege of knowing the founder of this fine farm equipment company for over 50 years.
Being able to watch harvesting videos through winter then right into planting videos in the spring......can't ask for anything better!!😊👌🏻👍🏻
Can’t wait to see the new case & new holland machines running this year
Thanks Mike for another great corn harvest video I always enjoy your videos. Thank you Mike
There was no Accident there, they all wanted to watch the Combine Harvesters.... 🤔😁🤣👍👏
And get in on a KZhead Video. It'll be interesting to see if anyone on the turnpike that day will see this video.
Lots of experts out there! I loved how as they were opening up they were going faster than the freeway! Truck drivers couldn't stop for a break!
Cool to see an x9 and an ideal harvesting together😉👍 great harvesting setup, thanks for the video😁👍
It is no wonder why I like Mike. Best in drone footage with audio, ground footage, and in cab footage. Happy subscriber for sure. Happy subscriber 😊!
Some people enjoy being miserable and negative, i enjoy your videos
thank you for sharing this
Cracking teamwork by the crew.
I enjoy seeing the Fendt 10T Combines. Hope to see more in the Future.
Oh Dear God! What a line up!😮😮😮😮😮
Awesome machinery! 24 rows at a time! Mind blowing!
great machines, had fun watching, keep it up
Very impressive and efficient setup
I like that A John Deere Quadtrac and axial flow combine
Great video Mike 👍
Great video, loved watching those big machines in action, all that golden grain going into the bin, looks like a good crop. Regards from Down Under.
Awesome corn harvest video and great drone work Mike! I've been at home fighting a bit of a flu bug the last few days but i'm feeling better and your harvest videos always seem to take me back home. Thank You ! 👍
Looking at the deer tracks in that field and looking a your online ID, we need you out in that field!
Good video.
great vid's mike I miss that smell of harvest when my grandfather had the farm wheat farm although.
Amazing video 👌
Awesome video Mike 😍👍👊
Some real beast right there 🌽🌽👍👍. We’re working ground here in north central Indiana.
Genial Video - Nos vemos en el campo TractorPasion
Like those LSW on the tractor!
Hi Mike - yet another great video, very enjoyable. Never ceases to amaze me just how fast those combines are able to move despite the width of those corn headers - their threshing capacity really is phenomenal, no other way to put it. Those two combines alone will have cost in excess of $2 Million - makes one wonder just how sustainable it all is in terms of the farmers' annual income versus his outgoings.
I'd wager that almost all of the negative comments telling you or other farmers how it should be done are by teenagers or early 20's posters. Some may actually live on a farm, and being so young only know one way to do things- the way their family does it, so it must be the only or the best way. Life will wise them up sooner or later though.
Its amazing how long those combine augers are- especially on the fendt! Suprised the combines don't tip over when they swing them out to unload! LOL.
I noticed that at the 1st it looked like they were running crossways I guess they were just opening up the field. I didn’t know that they could go crossways. I’m just glad that the bank told me that I was through farming in 1985, the price of the new equipment, you can have it. Thank you for this video.
They were just opening up the field,
The 20" spacing on the head makes it easier to go cross ways. If you watch videos of the Millennial Farm, they actually bought a 20"corn head just so they could go cross ways to pick up downed corn. I think that was in 2022.
Getting it done
Unbelievable, I wish really my grandfather can watch that, he was borne 1880...
Great Vid🌽🌽🌽🌽👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺
Amazing coordination and machines. This is a skilled crew. You have the best harvest and machine information on the net. Thank you. 🇺🇸
I like Mike less videos on KZhead from the imperial county California 🇺🇲👍🚜
I like toodles
My dad had a Uni-System back in the seventies and the only way you knew the grain bin was full was when you heard the cab corn. LOL It had a monitor but it never worked no matter how many times we cleaned it or adjusted it.
Great Video Mike, which combine impressed you the most, I have seen a number of You Tubers who have bought X9's and sold them at the end of the 1st season due to annoying breakdowns, thanks for sharing
They were both pretty impressive. Well all of the equipment in this video was impressive. The Fendt Ideal 10 is joystick control and has no steering wheel which I think is pretty neat.
@@farmhandmike I follow Brian Brown on his channel, and he made a series of Videos about trialing a number of machines to replace their Gleaner and 740 Claas with one unit, my bet was they would buy a Claas i think it was a 8700, but they bought a Fendt ideal and I think it was the joystick that sold him on the fendt
@@tonymckeage1028no what sold them was the 5 year warranty bumper to bumper that went along with Fendt. Only hope it works out for them reports I've heard on fendt early models weren't the most dependable
@@joescheller6680 Thanks Joe, I've heard that about the Fendt Tractors, not so much about the Combines, I think I remember an Ideal combine being demo-ed on Brown farms when I first started watching, In terms of Reliability, I would think it would be hard to beat a New Holland or a Claas combine or tractor
Thanks Mike Less - Farmhand Mike 😍😄😍😍😍
Awesome video Mike! Heck there was a farm here in Oklahoma that just harvested a field of corn a couple of days ago! I have been passing this field for months wondering why they haven't harvested it. They just did. I don't know how the quality was, but it's combined now! Lololol
Two fields of corn within a few miles of my house just got harvested today.
@@farmhandmike lololol. I'll take combine action any time of the year Mike! Harvest is my favorite! Looking forward to seeing some cool new machines over the next couple of years!
GTS é uma empresa do Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷 Do Brasil para o mundo
Looks like the stalks held up to the extra time in the field.
New Mike video-clip: first step like it, next step enjoy it.
Great video Mike ive been farming in uk all my life and i was going to ask why still harvesting in December thanks for the explanation is that the interstate in the background cheers Mike
if corn is a late variety or was planted late you may have to wait till December for it to dry down to shell it
For the grain cart tractor, is it better for the ground for tires or tracks??
I love this work and I have experience can l work with you 😊
Great video as always.....are yields comparable on 20 vs 30 inch rows ?????
Funny, the combine is moving faster than the traffic
🤔was wondering how much fuel each of these Monster Harvesters use a day. Incredible operation! Thx Mike
How many acres per hour do these machines devour. Love the noise, it almost puts me to sleep!!!
Those are the biggest corn cutters I’ve ever seen 😂😂
Just wondering what the 20" row corn was yielding and how many bushel were they shelling per hour. Enjoyed watching. Thanks
Mike. Love your work. Fantastic camera work. Drone shots are great. What are the farmers thoughts and opinions on the LSW's?
They told me the tracks way out performed the LSW tires.
@@farmhandmike Thanks Mike.
man that has to be a lot of stress on the unloading augers hanging way out like that wow
I didn't know they made a right hand unload grain cart
😎😎
Non-stop harvesting. Sure wouldn't want any bottlenecks to keep these high$$$ combines from moving. Just wonder how large a grain system it takes to handle the output!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I saw what appeared to be digital numbers on the side of the Brent grain cart. What are those?
Hi Mike, any comments on capacity, loss, or fuel usage differences between the two machines?
You need a CLAAS bro.
Put those combines in some GOOD CORN see how fast they go!
The corn was yielding good in this field. The top of the plant was gone due to be harvested a little later in the season which made it look short in the video is all.
@@farmhandmike sorry for that comment guess I’m just used to seeing irrigated high moisture corn keep up the good work
Some fuel got burned that day! How many trucks did it take to keep the corn away?
How many semis do they have to keep up hauling grain away from?
did that corn trailer tear off that truck's mirror? If not it was close. Gotta be mindful of the trail swing with all kinds of equipment.
I missed that.
Great vid as always. I noticed something interesting on the 9RX that got me wondering: why is it running a separate 6000 receiver when it has a built in receiver since the other one doesn't, far as I could see, have RTK accuracy. not sure if the built in one did or not as I'm not exactly sure where the antenna is for that as, last I knew, the built in one still got an antenna
That might have something to do with being their planter tractor. I plan on filming this farm planting this spring and I'll try and find out as I didn't notice it while I was out here.
That tractor was ordered right after Covid when deere was having supply chain issues. So it didn’t actually have the integrated receiver. Just now got the integrated receiver for it so it will be ready to go this spring!
makes sense@@jackzenz8037
@@farmhandmike I only noticed it in a drone shot and was like interesting.
I’d love to see an in cab view of the 10T operating without a steering wheel.
I wonder how much those grain carts weigh when they're full, that's gotta be a lot of weight.
It's obvious Mike those commenters don't know what the hell there talking about you can see the way they work together in the field and the equipment they have they know what they are doing
Mike, Spectacular video, good work, thanks. Any idea why they chose 20 inch row spacing ? Looks like it works for them yield wise. Also, why did they go with such small grain carts ?? :-)
With them having to push harvest to very late in the season, does it affect the yield at all?
As long as the corn doesn't get a wind storm and blow it over it should be fine.
Were thay trucking to a drayer and bin site of there own ? Or were thay hauling to a elavator?
To their own bin site.
Holy smokes, what do those guys do, 100 acres an hour ?
Oh lord your gitting dust in Smokies squad car around that border...slow down!
How about those 1500 bushel semi loads. Lol
You don't see these mega tractors from John Deere here in Europe unless on mega larger fields in Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Poland,..... but you could see the John Deere & De Fendt harvesters! Really super video with the drone footage & via camera!
did you see that ring or circle in the corn
How many semi trucks were thay using that day? I think thay nee to and 2 more at least ?
I think they had 8 trucks running this day.
Wrong color on the Fendt. Should be Green and Red. Other than that everything looks as it should do everything looks great.
How many acres are there harvesting corn
Mike. Just had a look at their soybean harvest; they've moved away from the Case 620's? Did they offer a reason ?
They still have the Case IH 620 Tractors.
How many bushels per areas
How would a Gleaner S98 stack up against these two behemoths?
These combines are a few class sizes bigger than an S98
this videos should be 2 hours long.
Funny you say that as one comment said it was too long of a video. For more action checkout the video I did of these guys harvesting their soybeans.
Liked, thanks for leaving out the horrible music you sometimes use. I know your music choices are limited because of KZhead.
Was the Fendt able to keep up?
Yes
With those 2 combines they must be harvesting 14,000 bushels per hour.
I was thinking they told me these combines were pushing 8000 plus an hour.
@@farmhandmike with those 24 row heads I wouldn’t doubt it. That’s 16 trailers per hour!
In 1966 my grandfather harvested 600 bushels per day with a 2 row corn picker. Allis Chalmers WD with a mounted corn head. Those were the days!
There is always going to be an armchair quarterback in the group 😅
Is there any reason why tracks are used on farm equipment instead of wheels
Bigger surface contact area than tires = less press on surface.
Why are they combining across the rows and no with them 😊
They really didn't other than maybe one spot when opening up the end rows of the field.
Mike, I really appreciate your work and the shots are always great, but a) I don't need to see the same thing over and over again for 30 minutes. One shot from each perspective is enough, isn't it? And b) I'm sure many of your viewers and subscribers would appreciate some information about the machines and especially the opinions of the owners. If you're already sitting in the cabin, you could also ask questions. If the owners/drivers don't want this, it's important to respect this, but leaving us without information for 95% of the video is unsatisfactory in the long run. I hope you take this as constructive criticism and don't feel attacked. That is by no means my intention because I really like your work and appreciate the time you invest.
Hey I can't please everyone but the longer videos always do better and with this many machines in the same field there is a lot of different angles to cover. There is a lot of information I get from these farmers on their opinions of machines or the crop. that they don't want shared with the internet and we'll just leave it at that. Also I don't feel I need to always mention the machines specification especially if it's a new machine. Most people don't care and it's all information that can easily be looked up on the internet if someone wants it. Another thing I might add is if you look at my most popular videos on my channels they are all long videos. Now I understand if I am just filming one tractor and implement that video can't be as long as a video with multiple machines running together. I'm all for constructive criticism but I really have to do what works for me.
I question the long term benefits of narrow row corn. Seems to me that 20" spacing will deplete soil nutrients. Also, this practice increase costs by upping fertilizer application to replace natural resources. This method of farming smells like greed and poor land stewardship. Resting the land by adding fallowing into the crop rotation seems to have fallen by the wayside. 😢
Hello Sir, I am from India and my dream is to work in agriculture in America. Please help me. I am ready to work at any salary.😢
Not the biggest combine in the world Claas Lexion is.
Not much corn
What do you mean by that?
Cracking teamwork by the crew.
