Hey guys, back with another Fallout 4 video and today, I wanted to go over some of what I think are among the best guns and weapons to give or equip to your settlers in Fallout 4! I think these items are among the best items to equip to your settlers to help them repel threats.
As always, if you liked this video, feel free to leave a like and let me know what you think of this video!

+sean Is there a way to reclaim your power armor?
Benschachar forced them to leave the power armor by lower his hp to like 20% and then he will leave the power frame or just kill him but you will only get the parts not the frame
L Wolfer Shooting the core but using the armour will be theft
Just witnessed my settlers annihilate a band of raiders with auto combat rifles, laser rifles, and assault rifles. Then one guy approaches: " I'm glad you're here. We could really use your help." Me: ...... -_-
Yunpei Yang Yet if you don't go, the settlement gets scraged because you weren't there.
Maybe they needed someone to draw the raiders in as bait? XD
@@christopherconard2831 I've got like 70 percent of my settlers using heavy combat armor and high damaged ballistic weapons, sometime I cant make it too the settlement but yeah long story short my squads always win lol.
Explosives can destroy resource-gathering objects, like farms, purifiers, and power generators. Also kills other settlers. Definitely not recommended.
Exactly man well said
I was like "EXPLOSIVES!?!? ON NPC's WHAT,ARE YOU NUTS!?!? BESIDES, BUGTHESDA MADE THIS GAME..ARE YOU NUTS!?!? " Because they shoot like shit,I always do my best to give most, automatic weapons, & for range, long barrel combat rifles also automatic. Later I'll throw in some heavies with plasma rifles, auto with sniper barrel. Never EVER give NPC's explosives.
I dismissed Porter Gage on the roof of Home Plate and he stays there, so as soon as Latimer sends a hit squad, grenades fall from the heavens by the dozen.
If you're giving your settlers throwables , always give them molotovs , believe me in a swarm they are really good and don't destroy your settlement
@@Dirtbag-Hyena dawg my heavys got gatling lasers and x01 power armor
I don't trust followers or settlers with grenades since that one time Piper wrecked my damn Power Armour by throwing a grenade at the radroach in front of me.
Could just get the perk that makes it that companions can't hurt you

@@DragonessYT That's a thing?!!!? Does it also work in reverse as well though??!
@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoodl6206 I believe so, but only in combat.
@@DragonessYT Oh seeein
The problem with gatling lasers is if you give a settler a fusion core, they like to steal your power armor!
wow, thanks for the data bro
@Chris Kingston nope
Great! Power Armors for everyone
Simple Solution keep all power armor in one settlement but you don't have settlers in it. My general suggestion is the mechanists lair.
I made a separate area to store power armor and it’s not bad Edit: it is inside of sanctuary I didn’t move settlers just made a massive building on one of the concrete foundations
I learned to not give settlers anything explosive, since they often ended up exploding each other, or me. I also tend to go for automatic receivers for my settlers' guns, because they make up for the lower damage per shot with increased volume of fire and their infinite ammo (MOAR DAKKA!!)
Each other? No, never happened. Me? Exactly the time I've given them Nuke Grenades. And my own damn robots had also bombed me with their shoulder Fat Man's. Lesson of the day: if you're overdoing on your defenses, then sit your ass inside while they're defending.
wise words
Explosives also seem to destroy the crops.
As I watched this I was thinking of making the exact same comment about them delivering friendly fire on their mates.
+Patrik Hjorth Aside from being fun, doing this can actually be detrimental. Arming and armoring your settlers does nothing to prevent attacks, and, unless you're present for a fight, there's always a chance that your settlement will lose a fight. Their armor and weaponry aren't factors in determining that outcome. So the only time their gear comes into play is if you're present for the fight. If you're present then you and your turrets should make short work of any attack. The only thing you're guaranteeing by arming your settlers is their ability to kill you more easily if you turn them hostile. So just avoid splash damage, give your settlers any piece of crap ranged weapon, and only worry about yourself and your turrets.
I go for practicality first. I look to give all normal settlers lazer rifles & all 'guards' plasma rifles. Make them automatic & with the 'burn' effect. That way you always know where an attack is coming from due to being able to SEE the shots & when they hit they 'light up' the enemy with the burn effect. I came across this strategy in Far Harbor when everything was too foggy & I could not see where the attacks were coming from half the time!
Jimboola hmmm thats a good strategy
Jimboola Either I’m having a brain fart, or I’m just being fucking stupid, but what are ‘guards’? Are they in all settlements, cause I thought you just got regular settlers, aside from some MinuteMen at the Castle.
Caitlin Callahan - I simply mean the people I put on guard, at guard posts. :)
I do the same. For developed settlements I build a tower in each corner, put 3 guard post there with a single guard using a laser rifle with scopes. In land I give full robot armor with a mining helmet (light on) to scavangers, and they go around in the night with miniguns :P
Jimboola You are an fallout GENIUS! Feel free to tell me more about your tactics i'm interested!
I turned my settlers into an army with different ranks and functions. Enlisted grunts who took care of the food and farming on their free time wore the standard BOS uniform, the military cap often found on gunners and sunglasses. They were equipped with automatic laser rifles, frag grenades, 1 stimpack, and a stun rod. Medic wore the white doctors BOS uniform, sunglasses and admiral hat. Also equipped with a automatic laser rifle, 5 stimpacks, various chems and a combat knife. Sniper wore blue BOS captain uniform, grey knit cap with sunglasses. Plasma grenades, stealth boy, stimpacks, plasma sniper rifle and a stealth combat knife. Colonel wore blue BOS captain uniform, BOS captain hat and sunglasses. Plasma grenades, auto plasma rifle, revolutionary sword and stimpacks. Also has a suit of power armor close-by T-60 variant. Standard soldiers were broken down into three separate groups long range, heavy gunner, and assault troops. All wore army fatigues with heavy combat armor & helmets + wrap around googles except for the long range troops who wore the military cap+sunglasses and a heavy leather chestpiece instead of combat armor all dyed black. They all were equipped with plasma grenades, stimpacks, serrated machete, combat knife. The long range fighters were equipped with gauss rifles, the assault troops automatic plasma rifles, and heavy gunners gatlin lasers. Also there was a melee variant for the chubby settlers that were equipped with power fists. Infiltrators wore corsers uniform, military cap and sunglasses. Full auto plasma rifle, plasma grenades, stealth boy, stimpacks and stealth combat knife. Special forces wore green BOS uniform with heavy combat armor dyed white and synth helmets. They used a mixture of sniper and fully automatic plasma rifles, plasma grenades, stimpacks, and electified Chinese swords. It was fun to watch the final battle with the BOS as they tried to get land their Osprey into Fort Warren, they never stood a chance.

Before the destruction of the Pridwyn and BOS retaliation (With Our Forces Combined?) I passed out a couple of Fat Man and missile launchers. Then used the Dogmeat duplication exploit the make a dozen or so Spray and Prays. I gave everyone a nuka grenade. Then watched the battle from a perch I built. (I am the General.) It was glorious slaughter. Though, in reality, East Boston should look like the Glowing Sea. I have a hard save right before it so I can test different strategies like all laser, all melee, all grenade/Molotov, ect.
I did something similar and the flashing lights gave me an epileptic seizure.

I often prefer to give weapons with rare ammunition to my settlers instead of using it myself; that way I don't have to be constantly scrounging for ammunition. For example, I typically give Jun Long the Cryolater, since I only have to give him one cryocell to make him effective. If I ever end up with a large amount of cryolater ammo, I can "borrow" it from him for a mission, then return it when the ammo runs low.
I never gave them guns because I didn't know they get infinite ammo for anything but their original gun. This changes everything!
I didn't know this either and OMG I'm going to go crazy equipping my settlers!

It doesn't belong on the top 9 list, but one thing you can do is give the Assaultron Head weapon to a ghoul settler, and then the radiation damage it generates won't hurt them. It probably even heals them, but it's hard to tell for sure.
@Donovan Aponte That’s the greatest comment I’ve ever read, lmao.
Tire irons and pipe pistols👌
That’s a joke right?
tire irons and pipe pistols suck ass
You idiot! Why would you even give your settlers a tire iron?! It should be a switch blade.
MrHuntHunt Not Bad....
MrHuntHunt there dicks
I would also add laser rifle 1.it's a decent weapon for mid-game 2.it's also cheaper the higher in game you get
TiedCrowed TC not to mention teagan sells laser mods that you can equip onto an infinite amount of lasers. I once got a maximized capacitor and automatic barrel from him, so, I just raid a local gunner base take their guns and armor. Then equip those spoils to settlers.
Laser weapons (and Institute weapons) also help you quickly determine where the enemies are... follow the neon lines.
When you're a Purified Water Entrepreneur, caps are no issues.
For each settlement/base, I simply mix up some Gatling Lasers, maxed out miniguns, a couple of 50 cal sniper rifles, and the rest mixed between plasma weapons and assault rifles. The Gatling Lasers and Miniguns go to guards equipped with full sets of Heavy Combat Armor, the 50 cal sniper rifles go to a couple people up in towers, and the rest of working settlers get the mix of assault rifles and plasma weapons. I never allow my settlers to have grenades for one simple reason: They ruin all sorts of things throwing them everywhere. Your crops will get ruined, stored will have to be repaired, and forget anything you tried to set up to look nice. Never give settlers grenades unless you want to repair things often. Same goes for missile launchers and fat man launchers.
In addition to the handmade rifle being common in the bodies of killed raiders there is also a group of raiders around the wall of the Galactic Zone, or the Western Zone. Those raiders often encounter gunners, super mutants, ghouls, or the occasional death claw. This often leads to casualties among those raiders. So basically, free handmade rifles, and you don't have to betray the raiders. Yet
Oh yeah there are these random encounters! I watched a video about farming legendary guns and you basically try to get a legendary raider and need to snipe him with steak to steal his gun and make it look like an accident hahah
I ALWAYS arm and armour my Settlers. No matter what. New guy comes in? Fucking drop the pipe pistol because you’re getting this spare plasma rifle I got and a spare suit of power armour since you’re now on guard duty
Mindy Auron they eill randomly leave their P A for sleeping though, but that means a different nearby settler may use it instead
Armor matters - a fully armored settler will keep shooting a good deal longer. Also, if you go with matching armor for each settlement it is easy to tell friend from foe (and friendly fire from you is one of the few things that can kill a settler). Ballistic Weave + Armor makes for surprisingly beefy settlers for the late game (when you are filthy rich and looking for excuses to turn caps into XP through crafting). The longer the range on the weapon, the further your settlers will engage from. Put on long scopes and they will stay further back. For some settlements (Finch Farm, Abernathy) long range is great. On some others, short range is better so they don't "back up" and put themselves out of the fight (Hangman's Ally, Covenant) behind something. Extra legendary weapons are great choices - except for explosive and wounding. Those two will create friendly fire on you and each other leading to settler deaths and more property damage. Staggering and kneecapping are awesome - but mighty, violent, plasma, and the various slayer types are all good (and ones you probably are not using on your own). If you want to make a "human turret" start with concrete foundations (the barn ones are cheap and extra tall) and some stairs. Put up three guard posts (I prefer the barrier ones from Vault Tec Workshop). Assign your settler, then pull the stairs and surround the block with rails (the ones from the scaffolding work well) and put the stairs away. That keeps the guy up there on this assigned "route" between the three posts and when he engages enemies he cannot run off the tower. Just make sure his weapon has lots of range.
OK, looking at your list, my critique: #9 Only good because plentiful, thus worthless #8 Miniguns are low DPS at any level, by the time they are available (beyond the one you get for saving Preston and ruining your life) they hardly do enough damage to warrant the weight for looting them. #7 Grenades cause high damage friendly fire, trashes crops, and other settlers. Often they get thrown at you by your own settlers. #6 DLC Required, ignore if you play vanilla. #5 See #7, now double the stupidity of giving them to NPCs #4 See #6, different DLC, same situation. #3 Again, See #'s 7 and 5, and remember your settlers don't care where you are when they throw grenades, at all. #2 Solid Choice, definitely worth being on this list. #1 Stupidly rare, but very powerful. Makes a great light show. Eats Ghouls and Super Mutants. My Suggestions/Opinions: #7 10mm Automatic Pistol - cheap and easy to upgrade, plentiful and causes settlers to instinctively spread out which limits the effects of AOE against them (flamers, grenades, ect) #6 Sub-Machine Guns - Nothing like a little rat-ta-tat from the old sewing machine to turn a bunch of raiders into piles of loot. #5 Automatic Combat Rifle - Still only does physical damage like the 10mm, but packs a punch. As mentioned in the video, rifles tend to make the settler AI find hard cover, and fire from protective positions. #4 Automatic Laser Rifles - Energy Damage, high rate of fire, tears into Super Mutants like a light saber through butter. #3 Automatic Institute Rifles - Just like Laser Rifles, but now in BLUE! #2 Plasma Rifles - As stated in the video, they are awesome hybrid damage. #1 Gauss Rifles - These things are simply nasty, long range, high damage, and the impact spins targets off target, making it harder for them to fire back. Highest base DPS in the game, but 100% physical damage.
Yeah I thought the lack of love for gauss rifles on his list criminal. Although they really aren't easy to get. Regardless, the ultimate goal should be some combo of gauss, plasma and gatling for all settlers (unless you're looking for a theme).
dunewizard but the sub machine gun does the same damage and fire rate as automatic pipe weapons.
For settlers I go for rate of fire. SMGs and any automatic with armor piercing ability. Individually I don't like them, except with certain legendary effects. But when a dozen or so people open up at once it becomes a slaughter house. I agree with restricting access to explosives. Only my provisioners get those.
I put my settlers in black suits, bowler hats/Fedoras, and black tinted glasses. They all carry laser/plasma guns and plasma grenades. Lets just say they fight in style
10:35 "YOU HUMANS SO STUPID! SO WEAK" Human: *throws n-grenade to wall killing himself and his friend* Me: True xD
Grenades break crops.
I’d never give grenades. Stick with semi auto combat and assault rifles, laser and plasma rifles, and occasional hunting rifle, my last choice being a combat shotgun because of spread. Everything else is forbidden.
halfdemon43 that’s why i made a greenhouse with glass mods. i know this is from a year ago but yw UwU
Thanks for the tip bro
I give them whatever left overs I have. Anything is better than pipe pistols and farm clothing.
Samr
My settlements always die, my first attack had raiders with missle launchers...
must be getting invaded by spiderman
ik right
There's a point in the game where you can get Supermutant attacks with multiple missile launchers. Very annoying.
That’s a lie because my first attack with raiders had pipe rifles and pool cues
that is why its always better to build heavy laser turrets and missile turrets then to try and have your settlers fight the enemies. Even if it can look cool to have your settlers go all out in a massive war. lol
I usually give my settlers the legendary weapons that I don’t use and frag grenades with tier one combat armor
i give mine tier 5 ballistic weave armor
@@warmly323 Bad idea. They still have a small amount of health.
@@bluethunderbolt9631 just get a mod that makes settlers have the same level as you.
@@DragonessYT Does it really affect their health all that much to be worthwhile?
Armor matters as much as guns to keep settlers firing longer before they "sit down." Explosives are a no go - they destroy crops, facilities, and each other. Weapon range will determine the settler engagement distance (pistols, with shorter range, will usually have the settlers getting closer). Weapon accuracy determines settler accuracy (spread and misses). Thus, the mods you put on a weapon can matter a lot and in odd ways (like putting scopes on fully auto rifles). Mixtures of energy and ballistic (guns and lasers or plasma) do best. Keep in mind those extra legendaries you will never use, like those that do more damage to a particular enemy type. They can often add efficacy to a settler group, especially if they regularly face a particular enemy type.
Nuka grenades look fun as heck.
Ludger Krenisk you can get them from children of atom npcs
As someone who loves explosions in video games, oooohhhh, mama...!!! ❤️w❤️
You guys might love the Big Boy Fatman Launcher with the Nuka Nuke Attachment.
I didn't like giving settlers explosives, too much collateral damage. I really liked lasers upgraded into rifles with automatic capacity, beam splitters, and gamma wave emitters... automatic scatter guns that set people on fire. SMG's are pretty easy to lay ones hands on as well. Bunch of Wise Guys with tommyguns running a settlement, making the raiders an offer they can't refuse.
Yeah I only give human supply line folks grenades. Too much carnage otherwise. I like to try all sorts of different types. Some settlements have fully upgraded .44 pistols or short snipers with muzzle break and big fast magazine upped to .50cal. I like to stick to ballistic stuff. Settlers all get modded ballistic armour too. Mainly combat or BOS stuff.
Giving every single settler a fusion core? Nah, I'm okay...
At level 55 i have like 30 fusion cores laying in workbench and i have 8 with me and Automatron hauls another 5 for me. And i am playing survival. Cores are common enough in late game, time where Gatling lasers should start randomly dropping from enemies like Gunners or BoS paladins.
just kill a few sentry bots (or use robotics expert to instantly blow them up)
Since I'm not on survival and weight doesn't matter, I'm walking around with over 90 fusion cores... giving a few to my settlers is no big deal. Besides I sell them to vendors when I see them in my inventory with
What I meant is that it's not worth it, why give a settler a gatlin laser and a fusion core, when you can give him a plasma rifle and 1 plasma cartridge? that settler will almost be as effective as the gatlin laser one but you will save a lot of caps
It might depend if you are playing on Survival or not. On Survival, the faster fire rate of gatling and its hitscanning potential causes settlers to deal way more damage in shorter periods of time, Plasma weapons have some travel time and if not automatic variant, some few milisecond delays between each orb leaving the barrel.
Be sure to go back and update your settlers occasionally. I checked with my guard at Sanctuary. I was around level 50, and she still had the same shotgun and leather armor I gave her at 3rd level. She now has a Militia outfit with ballistic weave, shadowed combat armor, and a plasma rifle. No grenades. Only provisioners get explosives.
13:27 shoutout to that settler, he was not afraid of that mutant overlord lol
Would love to see you try a video on Best Armor types to use for settlers some time. Love these kinds of videos you do
Mostly they don't need armor, you can give them clothing with ballistic weave attached, saves you from having to find armor and craft the upgrades.
Give them combat armor as they can be found in slew later game
really good video never, do like that you acknowledged the pipe rifle as being stilla force to recon with as it is surprisingly useful
Awesome video! I probably spend more time upgrading my Settlements/Settlers than doing anything else in the game. I always equip my settlers with any of these weapons: -fully-upgraded combat rifles (I call them battle rifles, because they fire .308 bullets) -fully upgraded combat shotguns (I call them heavy shotguns, because they weigh more than 20 pounds) -or fully upgraded assault rifles (I call them machine guns, because that's exactly what they look like). As for armor, I always give the settlers assigned to guard duty combat armor, with polymer and lead-lined mods. Nothing less than Polymer will do!
Sir i think it's time to retake the castle but i got word that another settlement needs our help i'll mark it on your map
Preston Garvey round up some of the boys and do it I'm the fuckin general dammit
Jack Ryan right. That bugged the shit outta me that the General has to do everything. Even as bad ass as Patton was he didnt do every damn thing.
They won't need help after this video
I noticed how the enemies in this video would take cover by going through the blue double doors and they do this a lot. It would be an excellent move to place 2 heavy turrets inside that room as a nasty surprise.
I do that. I notice where enemies like to take cover and put turrets there all the time.
@@timcirulis5273 I've since learned that if you have the Kiloton Radium Rifle or Spray n Pray with the bloody mess perk and you fast travel in. . .they won't even make it to the doors!
good tips, i give my settlers a combination of lazer/plasma/assault rifles, usually automatic, all upgraded for high damage, sometimes i give a few of them other weapons like gauss rifle prototypes, combat, radium or handmade rifles, and of course turrets and better armor, so my settlements have no problem dealing with enemy raids.
Easiest way i see to going about this is to give different kinds of settlers different weapons. Give the farmers the pipe rifles, give the scavengers hand made assault rifles, give defenders/guards plasma rifles, and give one settler a gatling laser and some power armor. Of course this is something to build up to, but it's an easy way to think about managing what your settlers have (do the ones at X settlement have Y weapons yet, etc)
I usually equipped my settlers one of two ways. Road leathers, leather armour, and a hunting rifle or double barrel shotgun. The other way is dirty army fatigues, combat armour, and automatic combat rifles with bayonets and a front sight ring.
The synth relay grenade is good too. It spawns synths that will be hostile only towards the attackers.
Too bad I'm already enemies with the institute hahah
Interesting choices. I find that in smaller settlements, like Hangman's Alley, shot guns tend to work well.
Great video👍I have been following you since had 1 follower👍😁
I didn’t know this thanks for this video
Settlers(and NPC in general) always hip-fire and ignore recoil, keep in mind when you modifying weapons for them.
That and scopes are always useful for them since they only care about the accuracy stat, not the zoom level.
Well I didn't know about the scope before, thought that the "Sighted accuracy" part would be neglected since they hip-fire, thanks!
Yeah. They don't benefit (or get penalized) from the zoom, but the accuracy stat affects them. :) I also don't think they benefit from night vision.
I once tried to equip a random settler with a gatling laser at Sanctuary Hills, but there was a suit of t-45 power armor nearby. So when enemies attacked the settlement, that one settler used the one fusion core I gave him to equip that suit of power armor instead of using the gatling laser.
I loved giving missile launchers to my settlers/provisioners as well. I played on survival and a friendly barrage of rockets helped out a lot before I switched to robot provisioners.
I go for a regular run around the fish packing works up at coastal cottage, kill all the synths and take their institute lasers, hand those out to the settlers.
If you don't care about maxing out happiness, you can make custom death bots for all of your settlements.
I like giving one or two rocket launchers. The homing upgrade makes them less likely to frag each other (no settlers with melee weapons) and the explosive effect tends to cripple anything that doesn't die. The rest get any assault, combat, laser, or plasma rifles I find that have multiple upgrades already installed, as I see no sense in wasting crafting materials on settler weapons. Also plasma and frag grenades as I find nuke grenades just have too large an AOE and tend to kill other settlers a lot of the time.
I just used to farm Quincey for heavy combat armor, laser and plasma weapons for my settlers and after selling a few I got shipments of materials to upgrade em (only for my guards though, I had a bit of everything for my shop owners and farmers.)
Good video I found it very helpful

I gave mine full auto plasma machine guns, polymer coated Heavy Combat Armor, and Yellow Helmets to have every single guard set up to look and shoot like a Stormtrooper. Only difference is that they eventually hit their targets.
For the sake of immersion, I like to mix up the weapons my settlers use, make it look like they’re using whatever they can get their hands on. Most of them get pistols and hunting weapons, maybe one or two guards wielding higher grade automatic/semi auto or energy weapons. I also like to designate one guard the ‘officer,’ giving them a colonial jacket or military fatigues, and a weapon like a 44 pistol, a laser musket, or a plasma rifle.
Infinite ammo doesn't apply to rockets and mini-nukes, same for enemies.
Never give your settlers rocket launchers or fat mans unless you want to dig graves.
It works you just have to give them 5 ammo
@@nathankidd3240 imma need evidence for that chief. If so, I got some rocket launchers to dupe.
I have tried various weapons in various configurations in different settlements and have the say the best single weapon to equip an entire settlement with is are upgraded automatic laser rifles with amplified beam splitters (institute rifles are a minor downgrade but still devastating). The beam splitter reduces the damage per beam but actually increase the DPS a settler can deal in practice due to a much higher hit rate. Also worth noting that settlers don't have to deal with that horrendous recoil an auto laser rifle / beam splitter combo has. Just try to imagine what it would look like to see a squad of 6 super mutants charging into settlement through a choke point with 20 settlers each armed with automatic laser rifles with beam splitters all pouring fire into the oncoming invaders. its just isn't even fair. Some other observations I made while trying out settlement weapons: Explosives are too dangerous. Settlers tend to kill themselves and each other while also destroying their own crops (depending on the settlement layout). If you have an elevated or walled settlement where settlers can toss explosives down on attackers, then that's something else entirely. Radiation weapons can be viable but I noticed the settlements I tried radium rifles and gamma guns were attacked by charred ferals and mutants more often than humans. Mixing radiation in with other energy and ballistic weapons is pretty good in most cases. Attacking feral ghouls will still make you think twice about having rad weapons in the fold. Heavy weapons will put the settler equipping it in a dangerous position. a settler with a minigun or gatling laser isn't going to use cover effectively and will also draw more fire. I watched half a mixed weapon settlement get massacred when raiders focused on the gatling settler, killed them, and then one of the power armor raiders picked up that fully modded gat laser and went to town. Outside of an actual settlement a minigun and especially a gatling laser are ideal weapons to give provisioners since they will be fully aggro and usually exposed when out in the commonwealth.
Raider: *It's free real estate*
Interesting video. For those that play on pc like I do, there's a mod that allows you to take a legendary effect from one weapon and apply it to another weapon, which can be really useful. Especially if you don't want to outright cheat by using console commands or downloading a mod that allows you to attach legendary mods to your weapons directly at the workbench for no resource cost. I however, have no problem doing so. For late game settlements I recommend a mix of weapons. At least few automatic plasma guns, a minigun or two with the furious or wounding legendary effect, an automatic handmade rifle or two, and maybe one settler in an elevated structure equipped with a gauss rifle or .50 caliber hunting rifle to act as a dedicated sniper. If you can afford to, equipping at least some of your settlers with gatling lasers is also a good idea. All weapons should be upgraded to the highest level possible.
I gave all the minutemen/settlers in the Castle either .50 sniper rifles, overcharged sniper plasma rifles, overcharged sniper laser rifles or advanced reciever combat shotguns. The Radio Freedom DJ was armed with one of the plasma rifles & he single-handedly killed an Institute Courser during the Defend the Castle quest.... (All of said settlers also had military fatigues/Minutemen outfits upgraded with Mark V Ballistic weave & various types of combat armor over it).
Only one problem; these days I never go to Concord.

Boogit yes
Thanks for this, my settlers are slowly becoming more defended
Lol I remember building a child of atom settlement, took awhile but I farmed the child of atom at crater house and lighthouse, and added ballistic weave to all outfits and gave settlers gamma guns and ballistic guns like radium rifles from dlc and in vanilla, combat rifles etc
I tried a mod and gave all my settlers power armour and a gatling laser
ToPgaAmEr 82 You can do that without mods?
A while ago I found an infinite mag laser musket. When you crank it once it uses all your ammo and one shots
So you're saying i can 1 shot an ancient behemoth with that?
I personally use automatic laser rifles with the beam splitter. Good damage especially at close range, huge fire rage and with the sheer amount of shots it’s unlikely they’ll miss. You should avoid any explosive weapon, or any single shot weapon.
Those lasers just showering that one mutant was the coolest thing ever
Here’s something I never thought of before, if you give them a stimpack each do they ever use it? Does it run out or is it infinite like frags and ammo?
they do use them but not infinite
They will also steal your power armor and run off
@@johnmarks227 Then don't leave your damn fusion core in it.
@@johnmarks227 Least when a settler does it you can order them out of the Armour. Try that with Trashcan Carla ...
@@bluethunderbolt9631 The provisioners will do it if they have one in inventory at the base regardless of it being in the power armor.
If you're playing on a modded acount, make it reasonable and realistic. Like give them sturdy combat or sturdy leather armour to make it seen realistic with pipe, laser,or combat rifles, mabe even shotguns to
The worst thing is finding out that the settler you juiced up with all that combat armor and upgraded weapon just so happened to be a synth that betrays you.
Absolutely love ur vids, I learn something new every time I watch one. I have a problem I hope u can solve. Food thingy Processer, I have followed online instructutiond and have its own seperate power supply but I still dosent work??? I also no longer appears on the vailt tech organiser I have built , thanks for you time and please keep the vids coming lol
the battle on the start was epic
Don't give out miniguns on farms. They will do more damage to crops than the attackers will.
32 settlers with fully upgraded pipe revolver pistols 🤘😎🤘
The Lone Wanderer You peasant.
I went that route my first playthrough... huge waste of Adhesives.
Illuminati He's poor, he can't help it.
Pipe Revolver Pistol Gang 🔫😎👌 #bestguninfallout4
I will give some characters miniguns, but the BEST weapons are flamers... especially the plasma ones. As soon as you can take on the guys outside the Ironworks (assuming you want to arm you settlers well) grab a few flamers each time you are in the area. If you can clean out the whole building you get probably 5-7 flamers. Plasma flamers when maxed out are about the most deadly weapon out there (without chems and perks). I liked giving flamers to the guys I assign to supply routes as they run into the most stuff. They do massive damage with them. I have had them clean out groups of Super Mutants on their own.
I recruit half the settlement populace as Minutemen guards and mainly give them R91 (Combat) and M4/M16 (Assault) rifles. Yes those are replacer mods. The more important ones e.g The Castle and Taffington additionally get at least one LMG (mod M249 or M60) plus a few Laser Rifles.
Equpping 👌
Great video mate big fan, but sadly it only showing in 360p? Why not 1080 like it is most of the time? 😁👍
That's KZhead. If you are very early to a video it can do that. Sometimes it can take up to an hour for the higher quality resolutions to become available for a video.
This is a totally different strategy to what I use. I go for the what ever junk I happen to have on me 'strategy'. I like them to have a jumble of things plasma, laser, ballistics... It's more interesting to look at.
If you have automatron and nuka-world, an assaultron with actuated frame legs, automatic space laser (or gatling laser) on one arm, quantum launcher in the other, damage reflecting armor, head laser, and combat aura. Best settlement defense weapon, though it cannot be equipped to a settler, it's aura will affect nearby settlers while using the listed weapons.
or build walls around your settlements with one long corridor for access and have 2 or 3 missile turrets at the end in an elevated position. the attackers are funneled into a kill box and because the turrets point down at the targets they will always hit and cause damage. it's often over before anyone fires a shot
It doesnt work all the time, in alot of cases enemies just spawned inside the settlement. Even if you fast travel to it, if you are on the opposite part of the map, the fast travel still does simulate time spending. Unless you get there quickly through Vertibird, walls are absolute waste of material and time. For me, it happens whenever i am somewhere like Castle or Far Harbour and something like Temp. Bluff gets attacked.
@@mrvex6695 give yourself a different respawn point
dude, squirt guns...
Crystallking H OMFG dude I've gotta try squirt guns on settlers lol. Dude I never would have thouht about that. Thanks for the idea. Hilarious!
I did this with weaponized Nuka Quantum. Fuck that was a fun day!! XD
I always manufacture hunting rifles and give them those. Unless I have them at a watch tower, I give them a combat rifle/laser rifles. I give my settlers the same grenade, frag grenades. I also equip some with shotguns, double barrel with advanced receivers (level 69 character with massive grinding efforts for materials) and I always give my minutemen troops and settlers combat knives knuckles and bats along with bayonets on their long guns
I recently discovered that my insanely high rate of fire radium rifle was a bug- but I'm pleased with it. That'd be my new top pick for settlers.
1st and where are you notification squad
Hey m8, I was first. I'm in notif squad fo life bruv

Same. I was like first and comment first
Plasma weapons and Gauss rifles are bad ideas for settlers for similar reasons. AI just aren't accurate with them. The AI can't compensate for plasma's slow projectile speed and they can't compensate for the gauss rifle's charging time.
I had not taken that into consideration. Automatic combat rifles and assault rifles for my settlers then.
I give all my settlers Gauss rifles. You can make them with the manufacturing dlc. I also equip them with armored clothes, and those in security with combat armor and depending on settlement size: 1-5 power armor suits. I have one settlement that appear to be a Raider settlement but actually isn't and another that looks like a Gunner settlement but actually isn't, and another settlement that looks like a whole bunch of Coursers live there.
I usually give them all combat rifles and combat armor as I can get it. In my longer games I start accumulating robot and synth armor and make themed settlements, everyone there in synth armor, etc.
AK-47s For Everyone!
Wasteland Wanderer 1216 *inner soviet intensifies*
3th... nice
"3th" Threeth. Thirth? 100% Correct there, buddy.
Used to farm Quincey ruins for combat armor and laser/plasma weapons to give the settlers I put on guard posts
Equip all settlers with bladed tire irons, green dresses, and sack hoods. And then tell your girlfriend she would fit right in
Meh... setlement building is a pain in the ass as it is, I want to play a fallout game not a sim-city wannabe simulator. I dont care what my setlers have. I build a few machinegun turrets at good spots where they can cover the vhole place, let the auto-build setlements mod take care of the rest (before finding that mod I didnt even bother building any setlements, booooring, I want to kill stuff), and thats it; setlers can make do vith pipe pistols or vhat-ever they scavenge from raiders vhen they attack. Ocasionaly I'l drop some weapons in a workbench if I hapen to loot alot from mobs, setlers tend to pick them up from there, but thats it. And armoring the setlers... waste of efort. I have better things to do then haul a 100 pieces of armor in my inventory, to each and evry settler and equip him/her. I'm not there fucking mommy, if they want to suit up they can do it themselfs (bad enogh I had to plant crops and build beds for them before the mod, its like they cant wipe there own ass w/o help). If I culd just put armor in a workbench and have them pick it up on there own, I'd do it, but they dont seem to do that, so fuck that. There loss XD
I think it's kind of annoying this video assumes you're cheating
This is useful because sure rare stuff but you know tactics you have a minigunner and rocket launcher person and say have auto pipe rifles with other people's it's tactical
The minigun is the most reasonable answer I think. It's base price is 382 and it's regularly buyable from KLEO and while obviously a Gatling Laser is better it is harder to find and I think only appears once you reach a certain level so you can sneak into good neighbour at level 1 and get everyone equipped with miniguns in every settlement you own plus you get 1 from rescuing the minute men or not rescuing them and just grabbing the minigun and there's 1 in USAF right next to sanctuary so you can probably get enough miniguns to keep your settlers happy for the first few days of game play just from the surrounding area. I'm not a fan of grenades as they destroy things and possibly people in my settlement.
Nice video thank you
I like to not make my settlers or minute men two op for role play reasons. However I love adding robots to settlements .my character is a robot loveing Minuteman general . And I always make a Sarge 2.0 for the castle maxed energy damage with two Gatling laser arms .... And two protectrons with auto prtotectron lasers as support, and I put sturges at the castle to maintain them... He's in full heavy robot armor and has the auto Tesla rifle and nuke grenades . Shaw has the maxed guas rifle, while other minute men get maxed laser muskets . Bring on the brother hood assault lol
Never on my whole time playing had I ever considered outfitting my settlers with Miniguns! That looks pretty impressive and devastating
Honastly I like pimping out one settler at every place to be a minute man. The hat. Clothes and I try to give them good armor and paint it with the style I got from creation club. I dont go over board with a weapon cuz I like the minute man theme so I try to give a more rustic style gun like the 4570 or stick with the laser muskets . but I do also build a protection with automatic lasers for each place and paint them blue. Cuz my build for the general uses robots. I even rebuild a sarge for the castle. Lol love haveing my robots for when the BOS attack
