  • Leksjonen er rask, men jeg lærte litt! Tusen takk! I'm an American, and I'm learning Norwegian in a few different ways in preparation for a trip to Norway next year. Videos like this are a challenge, and I like to have them playing in my headphones while I do chores, and sometimes I actually fully focus on the lesson during breaks. I appreciate your dedication to providing a free educational resource on this KZhead channel!

  • I've watched other stuff that speaks in Norwegian and they will speak it, then repeat it but throw English subtitles up, And it's all just once and that quick I can hardly even read my own English subtitles,... This womans delivery in content is absolutely perferect using the word then in sentence words again and then the slow down prenounciation, it actually gives your brain some time to focus and let it sink in

  • Before you start with any lessons of any level, you really need to have lessons on pronunciation vs. spelling. I repeat over and over, and each time, the sound seems different. Some languages are pronounced exactly as spelled like Japanese or Filipino. You have to give general rules like in French, if the word ends with s, do not pronounce the s.

    • I’ve learned all the basics and everything, but it’s hard for me to learn how to have an actual conversation in Norwegian, I need actual guidance like a teacher focusing on me being able to speak the language

    • @@styr899you're correct. Either a teacher who can guide you or being on location. People won't judge you, especially when they can see that you're trying and even less likely if you have knowledge of the language but have trouble pronouncing it correctly. Podcasts and audio books help to get used to the sound of the language and you need to get rid of the feeling of embarrassment which one tends to have when they imitate the intonation of the respective language. It's not easy and may take a long time but who cares? If you can make yourself understood you're fine. You can then focus additionally on your skills and perfect them over the years, if you wish to.

    • This is either a bot comment or simply without any logic whatsoever. What does your mother tongue, very close to Russian, have to do with Norwegian which has roots that have spread far into today's Germany and the islands of the UK?

    • That is in reference to the length of the video only, with lessons that need to be repeated but also/and the general possibility to pick up the basics that quickly, which is not out of question if you have a knack for languages. Admittedly, the title contains some click bait unfortunately but YT truly forces you to use it in order to get more views these days. Despite that, these are very good lessons with a high and quick chance of success for the "pupil"; speaking as someone who's become fluent in 2 more languages, self - taught.
