Rain delay on last batter. First time in my life that has happened, I think.
last batter, last pitch. which, BTW was a called strike not a strike.
the pitcher at the break for rain should have been forced to pitch to the last batter before being sub for
@@jamesberry3230 Nope, you can call for a switch of pitchers or players on the field any time during a game. Been the rule since Abner Doubleday.

Bucknor cost us the game but the Cardinals should have scored in the tenth with the bases loaded and no one out.
With their crop of no-talent youngsters (okay, Winn actually has a future), it is not so surprising.

@@iceman982004 Tell me one young player other than Winn that even has the potential to have anything even close to a significant impact in MLB. If you write Nootbar, I might puke. I like Donovan a lot, but he's 27 and more of a good versus impactful player, anyway. Plus, he's playing the wrong position(s). Herrera has a hint of potential, but it's not much.

CB Bucknor. Another great umpire lol. He just wanted to get back to the hotel after a 3 hour rain delay.

The fans would of booed that call. But they left 2 hours earlier.

There's no doubt in my mind that home plate umps will eventually be replaced by technology.
and hopefully a legitimate strike zone, i.e. a box over the home plate extending from the bottom of knees to the top of the letters (a line drawn across the chest at the under side of the arms held straight out from the shoulders) as the rules state
No they won't. Both the Ump and the Player Union will be against it.

everyone crying about the call made but also fails to notice how top notch lee was with the one knee down and framing the catch.

Rain delay on the last batter and then a horrible call to end the game. Everything was going against the Cardinals this game
Not so, but that last pitch sure did.
@@hiramnoone the rain delay should have been called much sooner or the Sox's pitcher called for a bulk with all of his movements before pitching
@@jamesberry3230 Moving around doesn't constitute a balk. A balk is normally called when a pitcher interrupts his delivery (stops moving) during his delivery. Bottom line though, that called strike that ended it was outside.

There’s really no reason why Lance Lynn can’t be a Jenny Craig spokesperson. Cards color man has a really annoying monotone way of talking. That K call to end the game was brutal. So-Rob Manfred can impose any rule change he wants, including the stupid change to the pitch clock this year, but he can’t or won’t fix the umpire situation?

Can ANY of the young Cardinals manage a successful at bat with a runner on third and less than two outs?!?
If AI umpires were in place they may have a chance at a decent at bat but when ball 4 and 5 are called strikes you have no chance
The Cards' present and future utterly reeks unless they can dump one of their stars for some talent. Don't count on it, though, with Mo the Schmoe as GM.

They should have called the game or brebbia should have just threw the ball. That will happen again in 50 years. That's not bucknors fault. Brebbia complianed. Throw the ball softly over the plate and be a kid. 7-26 is no difference for 6-27 at a half game

The worst game I've seen called behind the plate in a while
I'm sure there have been worse games in raw accuracy (92%), but +1.46 net run favor for CWS is just unacceptable. CB Bucknor is a bad umpire generally, but it seems like he has had a grudge against STL for the past two seasons (i.e., since the middle of 2022).

I mean it's just sad how bad the Cardinals are constantly I mean you erase the big hits these guys get and Arenado's homer that gave us the lead because of terrible pitching we went on to lose this game. This shows the manager or pitching coach needs to lose their job you let Lynn get 2 guys on with no outs before you exit him which was fatal just horrible management.
The GM is the problem. How can you outslug any team with an outfield that anemic and a hacking statue trying to play second base?
I’m a White Sox fan and I love that we won but I feel like it is ridiculous that they can’t just finish the game and instead they go into a 3 hour delay
It's partly a player safety issue. If that ball slips out of the pitcher's hand and beans the batter, that's no good

The only thing wrong with that is how typical it is, despite all the inexplicable hype surrounding Nootbar. He's just another of our many subpar outfielders. Far and away the worst collection of outfielders I've ever seen in my many years of observing major league baseball.

It's your imagination. They're getting better at calling Balls and Strikes but legacy short sighted umps like Angel Hernandez and CB Bucknor (Home plate ump here) stick out like a sore thumb
These umpires was a total joke. That last ball was two inches outside.

As much as I hate to say it, I wish they would take calling balls and strikes out of the home plate umpire's hands. There are some that can call a good game on a good day, but a lot of the calls being made the last few years are just down right pitiful. I am sick and tired of games coming down to relying on umpires making the correct calls.
Nah it's the human factor that makes it interesting. Some days it goes against you, some days in your favor, that's life. Dont whine.
Fully agree. We have the technology, so use it. I can't take it anymore with all of these missed strikes & balls calls all over baseball.

Maybe not awful, but the Cards are old, yet going nowhere until they sweep out whoever is in charge of player acquisition, and I don't mean free agents. It is reasonable to assume it's the GM. It is past time we have computer-called balls and strikes. The umpires across the board are really bad at calling balls and strikes, and the tech is there to easily tell balls from strikes. Horrendous calls lately across the league.

People will still complain. I was arguing with a guy who thought a strike was a ball and when I pointed him to the statcast website which showed that Robo-Umps also called it a strike and he literally said "I do not care what Statcast says"
Cardinals lose this game on Saturday. The next day, today, Sunday; they lose again to the White Sox. As a long time Cards fan, I know it's a long season, and their bats can get hot.......but then again, they may not get hot at all............. Right now, Goldy stinks, Arenado flails away at balls on the outside edge of the plate; Contreras provides some occasional home runs (thankfully). Winn is doing pretty good......a bright spot. BUT WHERE ARE THE .300 HITTERS??? Where are the hits when runners are in scoring position??? A trade for a missing link or two might help improve the team. Why didn't they sign J.D. Martinez earlier??? He can actually hit!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are people on the current team who hit like former Cardinals??? Where are the Keith Hernandez (s); Bake McBride; Jim Edmonds; Edgar Rentaria; Scott Rolen, Albert Pujols; Ted Simmons????????????????? And checking at Memphis.......there sure doesn't look like there is much help there.

The Cards have almost the worst collection of talent in the league, so it's not all that surprising. The only consistent players they have were bought through free agency, or trade in the case of Kittredge.
I forgot to exclude Winn and Donovan.
