  • Hey Uncle Ben, we own some box turtles over here in New Mexico. I think the one you have might actually be a female because of how round the shell is! As for feeding them, they'll eat almost anything they can catch. Fishing bait like worms work, eggs and dog food are fine as well! They'll also eat snails and pill bugs. Hope this helps!

    @thorzap1374@thorzap13748 ай бұрын
  • Ben, not sure if you are aware, but minnows (and goldfish, and many other feeder fish) contain thiaminase, which can cause serious problems for reptiles (vitamin B1 deficiency). This can ultimately result in neuropathic and cardiovascular disorders. It would be much healthier for Gustavo to be fed guppies instead. I will keep dropping this on each video until it is seen :(

  • Just wanted to leave a note of thanks - I was a wildlife rehab intern and have been an employee at an animal shelter for about 6 years now and was deeeeep in burnout. I stumbled upon Urban Rescue Ranch on here, binge watched some videos for a few hours, and felt like I had been rejuvenated and immediately subscribed for a regular dose of dopamine haha. Thanks for the light-hearted content and for being such a goofball, it's really comforting to see some silliness, fun, and humor from someone else in the animal rescue world. Thank you Ben & Big Ounce for curing my depression and the Clappy-Blappies for helping heal the burnout :D

  • Hey Uncle Ben, first time commenting but I am somewhat of a farmer of Reddit. I've raised goats for a couple of years, and the only problem I see with milking her right before birth is that the first milk is colostrum. This is really important for giving the babies strength right after birth, but that's just from my experiences (we breed not for milk but for the kids, don't know if that makes a difference). Sometimes the udders do look pregnant with triplets themselves right before birth which does give the mammas some discomfort, but those sweet babies will help relieve that stress when born. Love your channel and what you do, hope this helped a little :)

  • Gardeners and farmers might buy any of the animals poo as fertilizer for their gardens. Check if your corn field neighbor would be interested, it'd save on shipping cost. Another possible merch idea would be to make a gag gift cereal that resembles the capybara poo. It's a common gag gift item to sell tourists chocolates made into fake poo like cow patties. You could make the cereal green and brown colored round puffs and theres cereals that change the color of milk too, chocolate would be easier but you could also do the green. You can add dried fruit like raisins too for "texture" to the look.

    @carolineapodaca525@carolineapodaca5258 ай бұрын
    • Lol about the poo cereal. Def a good idea to see if neighbor/farmers need the poo. My parents have sheep, they scoop all the manure into the manure spreader and onto the hay fields it goes.

      @pandap4ntz@pandap4ntz8 ай бұрын
    • @@pandap4ntz especially with the fertilizer shortage due to the Ukraine war, farms have become more reliant on manure and composting. In fact did you know 60% of human poo in the USA gets run through a process and I think its given away for free or low cost to the farmers to use as manure to help them keep costs down. Heard about it from a documentary in the 2010s.

    • @@carolineapodaca525 The documentary you're referring to reminds me of the RadioLab episode called Poop Train, it covers the controversies of human waste manure. A lot of people do not want human waste manure on their crops. Imo, if it's done safely and the pathogens are killed, I have no qualms with it. I just googled Poop Train to make sure I was recalling the title correctly, and a recent article came up about folks in Alabama being angry about the return of the poop train, I'm fixin' to read it rn. But, yeah, I agree with you, poop is a very underrated valuable resource.
