  • I was always confused about the glass shattering thing. But now I realize I think its symbolic. Miles was still holding on to that building. He was in no way ready to let go and take that leap. But he pushed himself to do it anyway. He overpowered his will to hold back.

  • “It’s not about saving a city, it’s about saving one person.” That advice that Peter gave to Miles always stuck with me. Simple yet effective way for Peter to teach Miles the responsibility of being Spider-Man. It’s a hard reality that Peter had to accept, you can’t save everyone, but as long as you make it a daily goal to at least save one, one person, daily. You already helped the city suffer less. You keep giving people the motivation and hope they need.

    • Chills every time. Usually, saying it's the best ever is a hyperbolic statement, but years after it came out, this still is one of the best films I've seen in a long time. It hits in the soul and the enjoyment hard that even some of the best MCU films don't quite reach for me. It's also very telling how good it is for someone that was originally very much against Miles and the Ultimate Spider-Man series in general. There are cases where quality, execution, and a genuine spirit is so effective that it breaks down barriers and biases.

  • I remember watching the legendary Leap of Faith scene in the theater back when the film released, and since then it has remained my favorite scene in movie history. It is such an iconic moment that has given me confidence and self-empowerment over these past few years.

    • Probably one of the things that makes it so impactful. It's a city in the middle of mourning and depression, and Miles shows up and gets everyone excited and hopeful again. I love this scene so much.

  • I really love the spiderverse movies because the message they tell is to never let anyone say you are less or that you don’t fit in (I think Mrs. Morales said it best.) The first movie has Miles crowded by his teammates, questioning him on things and overwhelming him. They even stick him to a chair because they thought he couldn’t help them beat Kingpin. He ends up being the one to save the others. The same happens in the second movie where Miles is underestimated by the spider people, Miguel directly saying to Miles that he does not belong, that he was never meant to be spider-man, that he ruined everything. But even though he thought this for a bit, he realized that he can be whoever he wants to be, that he WAS meant to spider-man.

  • I’m sure most people know this already, but I love the script for when this scene plays. The most iconic scene of the movie, when Miles jumps off the building. On the script, it said something along the lines of “as he is falling, he is rising.” I just love that quote so much I had to type it out

    • I think it’s expressed in 2:19, where the camera pans upside down. He is physically falling off the building, but to us and to him, he is rising up to his fears. Bro is falling into danger to give rise to the new Spider-Man.

  • This was and always will be one of the most badass takes on Spiderman ever! When it first came to Netflix, I watched this 3 times in a row. I wish I would of seen this in theaters. The soundtrack animation, everything is wonderfully done. I can't get enough of this movie.

    • I saw it in theaters purely because my sister and I just love anything Spiderman. MAN, was I shocked leaving that theater, was not expecting it to be what's debatably the greatest Spiderman film ever made. Goosebumps for half the movie, can't get better than this.

  • I've heard someone refer to Miles as "Shadow Spider" when Peter is around, it's a great name, not only because of the black suit and the invisibility but because he's spidey's student, there's a common phrase from those that teach through actions "be my shadow"(as in follow my lead) or the concept of shadow boxing(imitate the other person to get the form down) it fits him perfectly and is awesome

  • This movie did diversity right. Instead of reinforcing barriers and mutual resentment, it bridges the gap and celebrates the values of everyone without favoritism. And it's actually a good movie with a good story and good characters. It's not preachy nor using diversity as a smokescreen for inferior quality. It earns respect rather than demanding it. It's not patronizing nor belittling. It's a masterpiece that anyone can enjoy. With all that being said, considering the suit is freshly spray painted, he'd be breathing in so many fumes with that mask. I know I'd get dizzy.

  • All the way through the movie you're just rooting for this kid. He's such a likeable character, then he's kept out by the other Spider people because he hasn't mastered his powers, his enemy and uncle is killed, his father tries to bond with him but he can't physically respond and then this scene comes and as an audience member, you can't help but feel so proud of this fictional character. It's absolutely fantastic storytelling.

  • I like how even in the beta scene, in which Miles goes through the truck instead of going above, its a call ack to the fact that Spider-Man always gets back up. Both versions are amazing at expressing the new confidence that Miles has in himself, and how he grows from previous experiences that haven't even been that long ago in terms of the movie.

  • My favorite thing in this film is Miles’ animation. In the beginning when he first gets his powers, it’s all rough and jittery, but as he learns how to control his powers the animation becomes much more smooth.

  • This movie was the bestest thing about 2018. Miles’ story was beautiful, the character development for Peter B. Parker was so well written and the animation is incredible. Seeing this shot here at 2:20 on the big screen took my breath away. The soundtrack is so awesome that I listen to it for hours. Can’t wait to watch Beyond the Spider verse. 😁😁😁🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🕷️🕷️🕷️🕸️🕸️🕸️

    • That's always why I love Spider-Man. He's not the most powerful super hero and often struggles both internally and externally. That element of barely crossing the finish line alive hits hard and becomes truly inspirational. It's those kinds of stories that stick with you.
