In this video I take this Mini Trophy Truck project out to Kentucky for its second test. I had a blast riding around in the sand and the mud but I did find some more issues that I will need to fix later.

Chris remember when and if you roll keep hands and arms inside the vehicle.
Yeah easier said then done lol i did the same thing on the road just about lost 3 fingers
I was thinking he should put some higher side bars on it. Yeah, and a window net.
@@JR-RollinI’d just go with a window net
For the love of GOD, please put a window net on that thing. They are cheaper than a doctor.
I saw someone get an air evac when he tried to catch himself in a utv.
11:04 Don't ever stick your arms out when rolling!! Hands on the wheel!! Besides that I loved the vid! Looks like a fun time 4 sure!
Yes sir, tell him! It a hard thing not to do, and unfortunately it takes practice to get comfortable NOT sticking your hand out, or grabbing the cage, which is even worse.
@@neilkirkes That's why you install nets and hand restrictors on these types of vehicles. Head on over to Mike Finnegan and you'll see what i'm talking about.
Agreed
I was pretty scared when it rolled and I saw the arm going. I'm glad it turned out ok.
Put up a net to remind yourself if you have to
The size of your smile says how good a job you did building it! Well done sir.
24:31 that's super fun..lol
Awe man riding through creek beds on fourwheelers was my favorite thing to do!
That was a cool view to see the bump stop and limiting straps working.
5:21 A couple moments into the ride I can see the front suspension (at least so far) must be stiffened quite a bit. The front end is diving really bad. It’ll sacrifice some ride quality but that’s the cost of performance. 11:27 the front suspension helped cause the rollover. Hopefully you can rebuild the shock that was bent. You built a vehicle with doors but aren’t using them? If you paneled the doors and installed a windshield you’d take less mud in the face. For a heavy girl, she looks like a lot of fun.
Windshield will get messy. Better make a body with fenders to catch all the mud instead.
Yes ! I agree & the doors are some of the coolest of the build .
Needs to turn up the rebound compression isnt bad but it has almost no rebound front sticks fully extend instantly
I noticed the driver tire at the 5:21 mark also. Some those heavy girls know how to make ya smile. 😂
@@Henrik.Yngvesson fair point. I had that issue on my side by side and installed a manual windshield wiper ($20 Amazon) and it worked great. I think your fender idea with decent door skins and possibly even upper door nets would help a lot.
Thanks for filming Chris. 😁👍🏼
Power Steering unit should be fine IF you add a steering multiplier of 1.5 or 2 between the steering wheel and the PSU. Also to get more torque with the same PSU you can move the steering linkage farther from the pivot and use a steering rack with more throw, will make the wheel need to turn over more times but hey the steering multiplier fixes that. Will be cool to see this fully built out with the missing body panels and Plexiglas windows front/rear. If you have some extra plexy after the windows maybe add it to the front triangles in the roof. Also would greatly reduce the mud your being covered in without fenders that don't fit with the look of the build.
Yes you need fenders and an upgrade for the steering. You need different tires if you are running in mud. You might also get a trail jack and spare tire. The suspension needs to be stiffened up a bit as you were bottoming out quite a bit and likely it is worse with a second person in it.
Yeah, front springs need to be heavier, will help with jumps too so you don't nose dive as much. looks fun af.
Its the rebound setting on the rear shocks that are kicking the rear up. Also the engine and gas tank hanging out the back is actually making inertia to make it worse. 2 ways to resolve it more rebound and let it squat like a trophy truck or more compression so it does not squat and rebound back up @@ShotgunAU
Props for sending it all out and good driving. Rock totally bent your shock. Get your doors back and window net. Cheers
Bet your gonna add some extra bracing in the rear to protect those rear shocks for the next time you tip it. Couple extra tubes in the middle wouldn't hurt.
That's a great spot to bring it! The things amazing, great to see it getting dirty!
First off, welcome to KY lol. Second Attica, IN, Badlands Off Road Park, something like 1400 acres and lots of sand.
Chris, you have built a monster. Good Job!!!
The giggles say it all.
Hey Hyman . Hyman your good. The one and only Hyman! Great show thank for sharing.
For fenders you could always use plastic trailer fenders and just attach them so they travel with the suspension and you could make it so they are can be removed with pins need be.
Looks like time for fenders and a windshield. Good job with this build!!
Congratulations mate, very satisfying to see your hard work pay off, and get such a thorough test of the machine. It looks great fun
This looks like a blast, but, yes, keep hands inside the bus!!!!! I know you want to keep weight down, but mount you an ammo box, it's got a clip to hold it shut!!!!
Quarter wash is gonna love you guys!!
Dam man that thing can handle some pretty big air, awesome job on that build
Always watch you build!! Love to see you rip one of your creations ❤❤
That thing is very impressive. It does a great job of keeping the wheels on the ground until you bent the shock. (damn rock). Aside from the comments about keeping your hands on the wheel when rolling...try to remember to put it in a low gear before you tip it back over to prevent it from rolling over one of your friends. :)
The box may have popped open because of the stuff in it jumping up and down (tools in particular) - maybe pack any empty space with blocks of foam in future. But boy, that looks like as much fun as you could have in a motor vehicle.
Since u seem to fancy the dual swing arm chain driven rear power trains sources.. I highly suggest looking into converting BMW street bike drive lines. U can cut in middle extend out to any length desired . The use drive shaft and universal sealed joint. No more chain binding etc.
They make steering quickener boxes for side by sides. I bet that would help on those tight trails.
That thing is so sick! Glad you didn't endo.
What a great project this has become! And what a great journey from September 2013 when you took your first test ride on the home-made quad and you now jumped beautifully with this nose-heavy monster! I always look forward to your great videos. From the Netherlands I wish you a wonderful 2024
Someone sounds like they are having fun 😁👍
I wonder if he was ever at top speed on those mud flats? and how fast was he going. Great little machine he's built!
If your wanting to ride on some dunes and whoops without having to go all the way out-west, Little Sahara ORV park is located in north central OK. Would probably be a lot closer for you if your located in the eastern US.
Rad. I liked the in car cam it's fun
Bro, you're freaking nuts.😂😂 You almost drive like me.
Find a black plastic 55 gallon drum and cut fenders from that
Once you go beyond a certain length for a chain, it needs to be replaced by a drive line. Stop and think for a moment. You could have used a combination of chain and drive shaft and only had short chains.
Hy Chris, this site off road is amazing and very cool. With very different places. Great your buggy work very well. Kris
When we used to race Honda odyssey's we had special wrist restraints to prevent from trying to reach out when you roll. Its instinctive to try to catch yourself, but holding back 400lbs of weight will snap your wrists or get pined by the frame.
Those beach scenes with white capped clouds running side by side reminded me of mad max highway of fury scenes.looks like you had a blast.enjoy ur friuts!!snooky pa😊😊
As you're going off of a jump.. Make sure you mash full throttle just before you go over it.. The spin of the wheels will cause the nose to want to raise--- so you won't dive down so harshly. You can creep up to the ramp at whatever speed--- but at the last 30 feet or so, you want to mash full throttle.
It will be great if you finish this project, adding doors + body panels and then paint
I was going to say, on to body and paint.
The trip looked mostly fun.The buggy did Very well. It's a testament to your machining skills as nothing You made broke.
As others said, keep your hands on the wheel or bring them to your chest. About 25 years ago, I rolled my gokart at high-speed and snapped my wrist to the point the palm of my hand was touching my forearm.
wonderful to see you enjoying the fruits of your very hard labour
Pretty awesome, fly like an eagle 👍😉🤣
I went with industrial stainless steel chain from a conveyor system tough and rust free but it’s expensive
Man l love this build its a beast of a unit.
The mini trophy gain a new color, some sort of muddy and dirt, wonderful groove, grait mix
Some form of fenders are a must-have. It looks like you eat dirt when you turn. Looks like a fun trip.
Awesome mate! after that much hard work and beautiful fabrication work to see it payed off in smiles is hugely inspiring!
Looks like awesome fun but, Power steering upgrades, mud guards front and back, and some sort of window net to keep your arms inside. Oh and new/rebuilt shocks 😂
Looks like it was a good day.
Gotta be the most Mad Max thing I've seen in a long while. Love it.
whoah, all this mud in the fan and air filter. nice test drive :D
3:43 Nice footage!
Very capable machine good job
After all your work, it make me happy to see how much fun you're having!
So awesome that you built this beast from scratch yourself and it appears to be running so good , nice job Chris, proud for you bud 🤙🏼
Looks like a ton of fun
You can see that the front suspension sucks up the jumps a lot more than the rear. That is causing the front to launch at a lower height than the rear, making it nose dive.
Love the side and shock angle . But it looks like yah need to tighten the rebound in the rear think it would help. Love to see you driving these projects. Everything you build has been awesome
And don't put yah hands outs pull them in next time
Stiffer front suspension would help level it out when you hit the face of the jump.
You should skin out a ford ranger cab to put on there, and then get some fiberglass body panels. You’d be protected from major of mud and it would look like a proper trophy truck. Just an idea 😅
Silver Lake up in Michigan has some awesome Dunes.
Its the rebound setting on the rear shocks that are kicking the rear up. Also the engine and gas tank hanging out the back is actually making inertia to make it worse. 2 ways to resolve it more rebound and let it squat like a trophy truck or more compression so it does not squat and rebound back up. Heavier springs in the rear will probably make it worse
This project is Amazing 💛👍🏼
Looking good!!! Well done!!
I'm impressed, good job man!
Sending it into the new year hard! 🎊🎉
You need a harness in this and netting.
Sweet! good shake down👍
You have built an amazing vehicle! That suspension is awesome!!😮
Chris you definitely need to turbo that beast !!! Its will change your whole driving experience!!
Yeah, I was even going to comment that after the side tip you started to lean to the left quite a bit, but now the problem has been found.
I would like to see an update on how well your air intake system worked … I.E did any debris get through your filters? Good job keep up the awesome videos!!!!
Looks like fun. If this was mine I would build hub mounted fenders otherwise the fenders would have to be really big to account for the suspension travel and keep the mud out of the drivers compartment.
You should come up to Missouri, we have a place up here called the loop 1 and loop 2. Its a huge offroad park that has all kinds of challenging trails and hills.
I'm impressed with your suspension ! It didn't bounce/rebound when you landed from the big jump .
Your tiers are packing with mud because of low wheel speed 😊you need to sling the mud out of them
That is sweet . I love street bike motors in buggy's . I had a Drakart long travel buggy w/ an r-1 motor . It was scary , so I sold it before I died . When your doing 80 mph in the whoops & you shift into 3 rd gear . Hey Oklahoma has sand dunes , nothing like we have in ca . Or Oregon . That mud is not my cup riding , I'll stick to sand & dusty desert 🌵
If you ever want to hit some dunes, come out to Utah and we’ll take you to Little Sahara Sand Dunes and you can take it up Sand Mountain!
We have sweet dunes on Lake Michigan in Michigan.
On some of the footage i can’t help but thinking Mad Max😂
We've got some big dunes up here in Michigan looks like you could use some fenders on this build
Sleeping bear dunes are only about 8hrs north of Louisville
Love this! Looks like so much fun
dude this thing looks like 1/2 a ton of fun!! well done.
100% never stick your arm out in a roll over accident. My sister works in the OR and has seen several people lose their arm. I know it's human nature to brace yourself in a fall, but you gotta work on not doing it.
Okeeee, keep go on
We have dunes a large portion of our west coast, in Michigan.
Great build mate, just a tip, lower your tyre pressure in sand or mud, gives you more traction, lesson well learnt here in Africa
That's some pretty slimy mud that you were having to deal with. but the four wheel drive seemed to work really well. and the suspension worked much better than I expected. it seems a little more bulky than the other projects. but a person has to take into consideration. that it's quite a bit larger than the other projects. from what I noticed when you were driving it. that you could pretty easily get away with lowering the tire pressures by several PSI. and you could benefit in two ways. first it's would take some of the severe shock load out of the suspension. because the tires would absorb a great deal more of the shock load. that is being transmitted back up through the suspension into the chassis. and second the tires would release more of the mud from the tread. due to the tires flexing more. but be careful not get the tire pressures too low. so as to not pull a bead off a wheel. or might even opt for some bead locks. anyway over all it seemed to do really well. and you definitely gave it the full send. and it turned out to be an AWESOME success.
I bet front and rear sway bars would fix most of that crazy body roll
Really neat buggy. Looks fun!
Sometimes fun has woe moments. 😂
You build a badass rig? Yes, there's some little things you have to fix, but you know what watching this video turn out pretty badass I'll say one thing she put a little crossbar or a protected bar around those rear shocks just in case. If you do late sideways least you protect it more. But keep doing what you're good at. I enjoy the contact videos
little tip when riding in the mud like around 6:00 try and follow the ruts instead of turning out of them, thatll help you get more speed and hopefully through the mud
That thing is mint
You should bring that thing up to Michigan to Silver Lake Sand dunes
Seems like a good motor to tip over lol
