I restore an old and rusty pistol in this video. The gun was completely rusted before the restoration and stuck with rust, so I had to do a full restoration process for this old gun. This old gun needed electrolysis to remove all traces of rust present, so after that, the old rusty gun is clean and ready for bluing.
For this old gun I had to rebuild the primer assembly because it was completely broken and rusty, and on top of that I had to polish the internal and external parts of this gun. I have cold burnished the small components. After the bluing treatment, I polished the handle and treated it with impregnating and lacquer wax. I hope you enjoyed the video.

Brilliant job great to see old firearms brought back to life great video thanks ...
Greetings from Southern California USA, or should I say Ciao. Nice work. Reminds me of the Ford Theater Museum's display in Washington, of the single-shot Deringer pistol that was used in the Abraham Lincoln assassination circa 1865.
As far as i know, Booth's pistol was not boxlock.
Awesome job bring it back to life and thank you for sharing

What a wonderful restoration video to watch. The gentleman invested far more time, effort, materials, and chemicals into the restoration more than the antique pistol was worth, brand new in the middle 19th century or today as an antique. He restored this pistol to museum quality. I've seen photos of this type of single-shot percussion pocket pistols in several books on old and antique firearms. It must have been a commonly produced, simple, straightforward, self-defense pocket pistol for its time, circa, 1840 to 1865. By the end of the American Civil War time period, unitary metallic cartridges had proven their value on the battlefield and thus muzzle loading rifles, carbines, and pistols rapidly went out of use. This common self-defense pocket pistol was probably economically priced in its time. It was only one-shot so the shooter had to be careful. But the one-shot was obviously of a large caliber shown here, more than .50 caliber, probably .60 caliber. Therefore the ball or Minie' ball must have conveyed some stopping power against an aggressive assailant. When you're trying to fend off an attacker armed with a knife or club, you definitely want your one shot to stop him in his tracks. There is no second chance as with a traditional, two-shot Derringer. 19th century customers of this convenient pocket pistol were likely wary of muggers, footpads, lurkers, highwaymen, and the like, the type of disreputable individuals encountered on the streets after dark or on dark, moonlit nights along carriage paths and country roads. In the 19th century it was still very risky to be out and about after dark. One needed to be armed. Not everyone was skilled with a knife nor wanted to use one. But a small, handy pocket pistol shooting a large lead ball or Minie' ball was a good guarantor of personal safety. In a northern Alabama gun store a few decades ago, I passed up the opportunity to purchase a $50 descendant of that pistol shown in the video. The barrel tipped up for the insertion of a single, .38 Special cartridge. I sort of wish now that I had purchased it just for collection. At the time I thought, just one shot only? Too risky. Might as well purchase a two-shot Derringer to be on the safe side if I wanted a small, pocket pistol.
Very insightful comment, thanks
Beautiful old gun, I'm glad to see you do more guns other than modern cartridge firing guns! The variety is refreshing, and cant wait to see what's next. Hopefully a firing test. 😉 Where do you find all these guns in this condition?
I find most of these gun's from private seller
Nice job! And at the 7:00 minute mark, that's the way I like to work on a restoration project!! 🙂
ahahaha Mazzagatti. Means “cat killer” in Italian. lol
Non volevo scrivere io la traduzione 😁
@@restaurato6629 ahahahah è tutto molto bello 😀
@@restaurato6629 To be fair, in English we just call them Derringers.
@@tiberiusvindex804 in argentina we call them “matagatos” what means “cat killer” too

Another beautiful firearm
Eso sí es arte! Todo un máquina!
Ver el amor con que trata cada pieza es para confiarle cualquier reparación de un arma antigua. Mis respetos.
Perfecto magnifico..
5:30 oh my gosh, big mistake!! you can buy the nipples, are very cheap , for exemple from Pietta, Uberti or Pedersoli... it's completely wrong to weld it , because the nipple needs to be changed after some time (black powder is very corosive and percusion deforms it)
Really impressive, keep on doing the great job, cheers from France

Hello first comment
Nice little pistol now
Curious why you chose to solder the nipple in rather than thread and screw in. Can you trust solder to hold if it is actually fired? Though I doubt with its age that is a wise idea..... But AWESOME job!
Nice 👍
Ciao from sunny Southern California USA. Will you ever make a shooting range video on this cool restoration.

Scusa la domanda ma dove li trovi tutti questi oggetti?
Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you soak the grip in acetone?
