Destruction is a satisfying mechanic in games, how about adding some to the game I'm working on?

  • I actually find videos like this most helpful in the grand scheme of things, because I struggle with the "thought process" part of game design. Perfect, thanks!

  • Adding these destructible scenery items to the store could earn you a tidy sum - Would be great to have a range of tinted windows, 1 way glass, thin walls etc.

  • Thanks for watching, let me know what you think about the destructible walls and the video as a whole- part 2 is to come soon. Additionally, Suit for Hire is 30% off on Steam until November 7th! You may not be able to play with the destructible walls just yet, but we'll be updating the game in the near future. store.steampowered.com/app/1612420/Suit_for_Hire/

  • Nice stuff log, I'm really impressed with the graphical Fidelity you've achieved. It's similar to a game that I'm trying to go for. Where did you Source your character art from?

  • Would you be willing to do a tutorial on this. Or at least share your node setup. This is the best I've seen. Beats the chaos system

    • Does it really tho? Chaos seems to have a lot of tweakable parameters, i havent fooled around with it myself that much yet but I'd assume its at least nearly as good as Crimsons implementation.

  • This is really inspiring, that glass destruction system is something I've always wanted to implement in my project! I know it's a lot to ask, but is there any way you could share the blueprint or point me to a a step by step tutorial?

  • Lovely. Would be interested in seeing it without mirrored holes, as in different hole on the other side, but this looks awesome already.

    • That's something I noticed when testing it out for Part 2 of the video, only issue with splitting it up into two UVs is that it halves our resolution entirely, so a 1024 render target becomes 512 for both sides of the walls- not sure if that kind of sacrifice is worth it just for different types of holes/accuracy

  • Maybe put the Steam link higher in the description cuz atm u have to click expand more to see it

  • Have you revisited destruction in Suit for Hire using Chaos Destruction? I like the results of your approach a lot, but just curious if Chaos gives similar if not better results with 'less' effort.

    @radspiderjackson@radspiderjackson3 ай бұрын
    • I actually don't have access to Chaos in 4.26 (besides having to rebuild the engine for it), so it's still all using Niagara and render targets- I did learn some new tricks from Naughty Dog's technique for render targets and damage that could come in play but most likely for a future title and not Suit for Hire sadly.

    • Not yet but I'd like to make that possible if an explosive is used near the wall- most likely will try to get that going in part 2.
