thats what sparring is, if you spar light when things get hard you get knocked out on fight night. if you spar hard, when things get hard you can take the heat on fight night. look at Haye v Wilder sparring, look at Mike Tyson sparring. KO artists have to spar like theyre in a fight.
@@ajawbox no they do not lol. Those guys just had bad sparring habits especially Tyson. He was knocking them the fuck out constantly that’s not what you’re supposed to do. I don’t even think this was considered a hard spar based on how Kell was fighting in these clips.
Different levels to sparring depending on where you are in camp
I used to spar sometimes 6 times a week with no head guards. And what I see here is more of a testing spar in favour of kell Brook. Benn said in one of his first debut videos he can't box and do the stuff great boxers do he goes straight at you and tries to take your head off. Issue here is kell is doing fine and when you wear headguards you tend to stay ther for far too long and take big hits which both here are doing. If headguards were off and it was controlled with no ego those are the best spars to have.

I boxed as an amateur. That's heavy sparring. In my opinion. Kell working all styles as he does. Conor throwing full beans back.
You can see where both of them get their confidence from in wanting this fight, both landed good shots in this footage but it depends who edited it and how bias it could be.
But must remember brook is getting worse Conor is getting better I think brook won the spar but I'd bet on Benn to win the fight provided all his improvement wasn't because of peds

Without gloves and head-gaurds that's as close as a street fight both looked sharp to be fair.

@JC7 maybe because he doesn't have the experience or pedigree of Brook. So he has to work harder, expending more effort and energy just to keep up. Just a thought.
@@TetaTalk decent take- although I’d argue that Benn is one dimensional, therefore he is always expanding when he fights which is why I think Brook would win comfortably with that experience and know how.

It is my personal opinion that had Kell not taken the GGG fight, I suspect that he'd had picked off the rest of his division. He'd have been a totally different fighter against Spence. In fact, I firmly believe that "The Special One" would have beaten Errol Spence Jr.. I think, at Kell's peak, the only fighter in his division that betters him would have been Terrence Crawford.... and I feel, had Kell, not fought GGG, the fight with Terrence Crawford would have been much different. Not saying Kell would have won but I think, because of the loss - and damage - done during the GGG fight, his entire mental state would have been much different... Keep positive Kell. I hope, upon your retirement, put yourself out to tour and train kids in the amateurs. I know our little club would be chuffed to have Kell Brook come train and coach.... Rule Britannia ;-)
its wild how good he was doing against spence and ggg up until his eye problems in both fights. the only brit to take on allcomers at the very elite level. dude is so talented and likable

I was at Bramall Lane when he fought Spence and he was winning the fight comfortably until his eye got done, so you aren't far off the truth Deborah. What we now know is, Spence breaks his opponents down and comes on strong in the later rounds like Ugas and particularly Porter. I think Kell bit off more than he could chew with Golovkin and as you say that fight changed him. Spence has matured as a fighter in the 6 years that have passed and he is better now than Kell ever was in his career. I don't think Kell (at any point) would have the skills to beat Crawford though. Crawford is arguably the most complete fighter in the world. Spence has the height and strength but Bud has those long arms and spite in his punches. Can't wait for that fight!

The real damage is done over years of sparring and not in the actual fights. Benn was trying to knock Kell's head off.
Even a juiced up Connor couldn't put a dent in Kell, the clean Connor gets dropped twice by a kickboxer and has his jaw broken by Ohara Davis in sparring as well as getting dropped many times, man is weak without the juice

Dude they went to war you can see kell trying to set up the jab and stay patient and relaxed and work the body catching his rhythm, while clomidor henn trying to just overextend swing wild for the fences and go for a ko.... sure its sparring and edited but I can still see the basic flow and premise ....if it were a real fight without headgear and 8oz on I know who would be getting the better of it as the rds went on

You're put into spar with people of similar ability at different weights and sizes to test your own abitlity, of course they're gunna lite each other up! Fans base so much on sparring but it's just another form of training. Is as close to a fight as you simulate without actually fighting but it's not like the real thing and shouldn't be read into too much.
Conor for the win younger hungrier if this is old footage it would be harder work age wise for brook.

From that select footage it looked quite even. But Kell is more accomplished and hasn't had a performance drug controversy black mark in his history.
Connor, has gained confidence, whether this is due to drugs before or not. Kell, seems a little off track recently and to be honest there seems to be too much going on upstairs mentally for him to have a chance. He also seems a little punch drunk in one of his latest interviews. If Kell comes back, I wouldn’t be surprise that he’s doing it to regain some honour after his nonsensical behaviour concerning drugs. And to regain some of that money he was wasting on drugs. I think presently Benn has the better chance of wininning and he seems to be constantly heated up and ready, mentally at least. There’s a lot of anger waiting to unleash.
