Acorn Dairy's happy cows enjoying their spring turnout 2014.
Acorn Dairy were awarded the Compassion in World Farming, Good Dairy Award in 2012. The milk from their organic herd is available for doorstep delivery. Also Waitrose & Morrisons supermarkets.

  • I have been vegan for many years and will remain so for health, environmental and humane reasons. However good for Acorn for treating their cows with respect and care, beyond that is good for business as cows will produce more milk when happy but because it is right and ethical to always, be kind to them. Albeit taking their calves from them at birth part of the dairy industry is cruel beyond words what mother would want to lose her baby, cows are very sensitive and intelligent, sweet animals.

    • You say good for Acorn, but most cattle and sheep farms in Europe are like this all you need to do is drive around the countryside to see that for yourself. It's only perpetuated urban myths that says they're not like this. Taking calves away from cows at a few days old is not unduly cruel. The calf accepts the person/people feeding it as its mother, and the cow forgets the calf after a day or so, and then continues to produce milk every day for another 11 months. Fields with cows and sheep grazing in them, like in this video, act as a carbon sink because of animal manure etc.
