Well, it's cold, cold, cold, cold inside
Darker in the day than the dead of night
Cold, cold, cold, cold inside
Doctor, can you help me? 'Cause something don't feel right
Something don't feel right

Yep ,
FUCK YES! FUCK YES!
All the great bands have songs that sound so different from each other. This is another gem by Cage the Elephant and it sounds like it’s straight out of the 60’s.
Absolutely
Interestingly the guitarist has a jacket with the symbol of kronos on the shoulder that's used by Blue Oyster Cult
@@aidenwhitehead7018 I'm not sure a symbol on a jacket that a Blue Oyster Cult guitarist used has any more significance/importance than if he'd been wearing a pair of Nike trainers 10m other people have worn. Maybe the guy is just acknowledging & respecting the 4mins that always was/will be Blue Oyster Cult's entire history & ONLY contribution - perhaps falsely making people believe they were a great band. Maybe they hit some chords & it happened they'd hit lottery jackpot with' 'Don't fear the reaper'. Not masterpiece musicians' using artistic ability on scale of greatness as vermayer or Auguste Renoir produced. Think Cage the Elephant have long since surpassed Blue Oyster Cult whom won't really be remembered as talented musicians due to lack of evidence!
exactly, if you had told me this was cream, i wouldn’t have been surprised
This album was produced by the Black Keys, so the whole thing has a bit of a different feel, but still the soul.

True story, don't care if anyone doesn't believe me, not the point. My cousin shared this song with me the day she died. I hadn't listened to this song in years. I'm crushed over her passing, but this song will hold a special place now for me forever. RIP Brandy.
This really touched me. Beautiful how music can brings us all together.
RIP
I might be thinking too far into this but do you think it might’ve been a cry for help
@@Cheddarcheese52 yes. Honestly, I think her surroundings changed and she didn't understand why. What I didn't say is that when this happened, she was already gone, but I didn't know it. There was no reason this song should have come up in my mix, but it did. In my world at that moment, she was still alive. Her and I were very close and shared music all the time. "Remember this song?" "Thought you would like this new song." This was her last share. And I will never believe otherwise.
RIP, though sorry but may I know the reason for death of her?
I don't understand why this song didn't get a lot of radio play. I know of the band, but have never heard this one before. This is great. It captures the feel of 60's songs spot on.
Cage The Elephant have some of the best music videos in modern rock
how do you see this video in particular? I am never good at understanding abstract videos, but from what i picked up it felt a bit like the process of becoming depressed. In which he feels he is slowly losing himself while strange things happen to him, until in the end he dies on the inside and he has to wear a mask so society doesn't see him differently?
nick willemsen I see it like the people are trying their hardest to indoctrinate the man in the beginning. He feels like he's different and tries different things to be the same, but he has to change himself. He's no longer the same person when they indoctrinate him. He's part of the cult, who all wear the masks and do the same things.
nick willemsen eehh, i dont really think its about becoming depressed honestly, its seems more like he tries fitting in with society but then tries to run away, but he eventually gives in to the desire to not be an outcast so he gives up and lets them take out an organ (his heart i believe) which turns him into another mindless slave of society
nikkahn No they don't
Not really lmao, they're just more mainstream than other modern rock groups with amazing videos

I feel the message is that it is better to be sad than to not feel anything. " Better to have a dark heart than to not have any."
"Cause a heart that hurts is a heart that works."
This sounds like we have a choice to not have a heart. How is it really?

I don’t understand how these guys are so amazing and not really a household name
It's because they are more alternative. They are great but for my household growing up there was a lot of country, and Nickelback. It's not surprising it's gonna be passed down to the next generation with them instead being recognized.

I’m 36 and absolutely LOVE the retro feel of this song! I feel this way with a lot of songs that are retro. They feel nostalgic for me and I don’t know why. I can feel the lyrics on this one. I saw them as an opener once and their performance was better than the actual group I came to see.
Hi I recommend a song and accompanying video called 'Where I Come From' By Robert Nix
I'd suggest "Take It Or Leave It" by Cage the Elephant for the retro vibe, and not because I'm a bot like Mr Skies here.
Who were they opening for?
This will always be my favorite cage the elephant song, hands down
I love this song and think the video is very symbolic. The coldness in his chest represents depression (the first few lines also reflect this). Society views negative emotions as a problem to be treated, and so they force him to be "fixed" by the doctor. They try a variety of methods, including physiological analysis, women and the pursuit of love, and drugs, which are all real-world treatments. In the end, they behead him and pull out his blackened heart, symbolizing, in my opinion, the forcible end of his depressed appearance. They cover him up with a mask, and he becomes another faceless part of the society that has been watching him. This is only a facade though. The last few lines repeat that he is still cold inside, he doesn't feel right. The change is superficial; he is the same, but has now been forced to hide his emotions behind a literal mask. Additionally, the world is void of color until the women first appear. And the line "My life before me like a flash in the night" (3:53) appears just before the beheading. Your life supposedly flashes before your eyes as you die. So being "cured" actually is the end of life. They kill him, take out what they don't want, and then put back together the empty pieces. Also, note how none of the masked people act as individuals. They are a singular entity with no acceptance for what is deemed undesirable behavior.
OnPS4 OMG I see it

This song would have made it in the repertoire of any mid 60s garage band. I'm probably not the age demographic these guys are aiming for but I feel like I've gone back in time when I hear this on the radio.
Good music has no age limit! I listen to a lot of new stuff that's more than likely targeted towards a younger demographic. I wouldn't hesitate to show up at a concert if I had the opportunity. When I saw the Rolling Stones in Atlanta on their Bridges to Babylon tour 1997, there were people of all ages from Toddlers to the elderly not to mention people with alternative lifestyles. I saw an old couple and the very short old man (who looked like the old woman from Poltergeist) was being lead by the woman with a leash. LOL! It was all quite a sight to behold.
Yup, I hear the Seeds in them.
This song reminds me of the Animals 60s band.
Arrr matey! This is a good song
This reminds me of the Animals and such band, even though I don't. Know their names I recognized the sounds. Cool thing about liking alternative rock is that you get to be exposed to many different genres and times.
I think the music video critiques the consequences of antidepression medication. On the one hand, the individual seeks a 'cure' from their suffering. But on other, the treatment takes away the life force that gives them a unique identity, leaving them numb. Now part of the collective, the individual no longer faces pain at the expense of feeling anything at all.
@Janky_Vagaries Thank you man. My uncultured brain could not comprehend what this was about. Your comment gave some insight into the thought behind the song.
