    • Polymer clay stays workable until baked. If it gets old, it might get crumbly, especially if not stored well, but it is not "finished" until baked. Air-dry clay will dry by itself if let out to sit in the air. If you do not store it well (in an air-tight container) it will dry and be difficult to use. Sometimes you can rescue air-dry clay by adding water. Adding water to polymer clay does NOT make it softer, although there are products that can help soften. Some people have success adding a little baby oil.

    • If it is really the air-dry clay, you MIGHT be able to revive it by slowly adding water and kneading to make it soft again, BUT: it may not work like new; it may not dry correctly; it may crack. You would have to just give it a try... 🤞

    • @@shimopaws1372 OK. That is a good description. I think what you have is similar to Crayola "Model Magic." Crayola also makes one that's just called, I think, "Crayola air-dry clay." It's in a tub. The Crayola air-dry clay and others like DAS won't squish when properly dried and are similar to a kiln-fired clay, although not as strong. They are somewhat like clay you would find outside from mud that has dried in the sun after a rain. They can be strong enough to withstand dropping without breaking, but that would depend on the brand, what the item is, how it was prepared, how it was handled and dried. As you become familiar with it, you understand it's strengths and limits. There are also easy recipes for making your own air-dry type of clay. They are sometimes called salt dough and they can be made using flour or cornstarch, water, glue...there are a lot of variations. They are made often in schools, scout and church groups, and by families who make Christmas ornaments. If they are properly made and taken care of, they hold up for a long time. I know this is a lot of information, but it is all easier than it sounds!
