  • Thanks for demoing this. It's been awhile for me, since I switched to Rotring. I prefer the Koh-I-Noor.

    • It's good that folks still use these pens - it's a lost art.

  • Your method is thorough, but It is easier and as efficient to clean the parts with warm water first, then immerse them in cleaning liquid or alcohol and the with the Rapidograph cleaning bulb run alcohol or cleaning solution through the nib. Much less mess and faster

  • What happens if you want to clean and do not have the syringe cleaner? Can I still use q-tips, warm water, paper towels, and alcohol to clean the pens?

  • Have you ever removed the needle/nib? Doesn't it get more loose over ti Even?

    • I don't think they ever get loose. I think loose means something isn't right inside. I find it does move freely in it's way where you get the clicking when you move it back and forth like a tiny rattle. I have some that are from the 90's and they are still hard to get the wire back in without a great deal of patience. I've ruined wires as well. Rinsing and soaking often are the best way to keep from ever having to suffer the experience. I got one recently from ebay and noticed the little wire peeking out of the "nib". Such a pain as it hits the paper before the ink/nib and it interrupts flow.

  • Has any one had luck using Koh-I-Noor's in size 0.18 and 0.13? I bought them and returned them because one barely worked, and the other one didn't at all. Im guessing the cleaning pump tool could suck them working again. But I use Rotring Rapidiograph 0.18 and 0.13 as a replacement for these sizes. They work better because the ink that Rapidographs use isn't really waterproof and is less clogging. Also radiograph lines are a bit thicker.
