Honestly, KZhead throws me in the best of directions sometimes I swear. "Hey, look at this cool random album." "Okay, sure." "Holy shieeettt."
Totally agree. Their recommended choices are on point!
+Ashton Conley It did that for me with this album, also with For Giants- "You are the Universe" and Widek-Journey to the stars. They all blew me away!
YUP , I HAVE BEEN TURNED ON TO ALOT OF FIRST TIME FINDS THAT I LUV .
Really, that's what I was going to say when I scrolled down to comment! By some chance I clicked on this on my home page. Never heard about them before, but I've been listening to Leprous so I guess the recommendation is based on that? If any of you haven't heard Leprous. Listen to Coal (the full album). Maybe a bit more heavy/progressive than this, but still. One of my brother's greatest finds.
+Isak Ronestjärna I've listened to Coal and The Congregation more times than I can count lol. Leprous is

Best fucking suggestion in the entire youtube. Cheers from Chile guys!
And I just wanted to thank you for making this wonderful music, so we could listen. :) I hope you people will make a great success with this album. This is how YT suggestions should work, BTW. :)
Brazil is with you guys!!!!
What kind of sorcery is this? What did you guys do? This came up as a recommendation out of nowhere for me. This is the best surprise I've had in a very long time! Thank you for creating this!
I am amazed at how great your music is!!!!! Love it!!!!!
This album doesn't age, it's as breathtaking today as it was when I stumbled upon it roughly 4 years ago. Everyone associated with this, you're all legends!
Completely agree
Ok, i NEED to say this.... This is BY FAR the best "random" music i have EVER heard in the last what? 3 or 4 years? I was listening to Haken's Affinity album and this just came in the sequence. I'm SO HAPPY that youtube gave me this. Please, DON'T YOU GUYS EVER stop making music. This is a FUCKING MASTERPIECE 12/10. Eargasms AT FULL POWER!!! P.S.: The track "Crater" is just OUT OF THIS WORLD. GEEEEEZZZZZ
I was listening to Affinity, too. Do you like the album?
+Angelo massimo everyone is here because of haken looks like! lmao. tesseract, haken and this.
I absolutely love Haken, but I was brought here by Katatonia's The Great Cold Distance. :) And yes, this is at least the discovery of the month!
I love haken and katatonia but leprous actually brought me here haha.
I was brought here by for giants!
I have been transported somewhere beautiful
Sublime.
This is magical. It's almost like a dream.
i just randomly clicked on this album because i wanted to find some new music and fuck me this is fucking good im in love!!!!!
Leon Taylor i missclicked xD
Filipe Simplicio misclick - insta flash
Same here brah
Dude I did the same thing and accomplished the same feeling!
yeah it's great :D
5 am - Ok let's take a look at this 6 am - That was a masterpiece.
just lived that moment today...what a great piece of music.
can't stop sleeping awake,
hear buckethead man that alien will change your life
You just have to get through the >200 albums ^^
go to work already! lol
Apparently I listed to this before 7 years ago. I just got it in KZhead recommendations again and was COMPLETELY blown away again. Amazing.
Wow. I'm very happy I found this by accident :)
Anyone else listen to mob mentality like 100 times?
Found this by accident. Stayed by choice.
+Nessa Nevermore me right now :D
pareil mademoiselle !
Pretty much my experience here
same fam
Found weed on accident, smoked it by choice.
Sounds as if Katatonia and If These Trees Could Talk had a lovechild and hired Karnivool as the babysitter.
+Jibberwhistle Looked up If these treees could talk. Goddamn man, its the most beautiful thing i've ever heard!
i actually have no idea how i have missed this album for five whole years. Incredible and just what i needed for this prison of a house
you are free my friend no house contains thyself
I missed it for five years and a month 🤣
I completely agree; and I, too, am in prison in my home with a nutcase roommate.
Sucks for you then.
@@camilleleanne3757 better than being alone....unless that's your natural state.
Someone sent me the link to this in 2016 in an attempt to rekindle my waning interest in metal. I bookmarked it and slept on it. Took a listen today and discovered that not only is it fantastically melodic and diverse, but parts of it were produced in my hometown. The regret is real. I haven't enjoyed a new metal band this much since my first listen to "Still Life" decades ago.
It’s very orchestrated.
Omigosh this is amazing. I discovered this while working on a college paper of all things and I'd be lying if I said it didn't help me focus. Great fucking music, guys.
Same, made my math a lot easier somehow lol
I'm too focused on these angelic notes to pay attention to much else.
Dude totally agreeeaa
I think I found the glue to repair the hole in my heart left by Porcupine Tree. That glue is called Earthside.
The hole left because they are still on hiatus? Or because you were disappointed with their later releases? Two very different holes. Credit to this band, but that PT hole can be filled by Steven Wilsons solo work, I promise. ;) I almost am completely at peace with their 6 years of inactivity. Stevens solo work is really out of this world
Try out some Opeth
Totally agree. Steven's solo stuff is alright but there isn't much like their group music.
PT was never this hard. Agree. Also listen to TRANSATLANTIC. It is a supergroup made of several dudes from DT, PT, Marrillion etc... AMAZING. bUT i STILL love this band SOOOOOO much. Glad I saw them live a few weeks ago. Look for my Videos on YT. The sound sucks due to the venue but they are amazing
i think Steven Wilson 2nd album "Grace For Drowning" its one of the best albums in prog music, and also try "disperse", great band from poland ;)
welcome .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . we've been waiting for you.
Yes! New material is coming! Woohoo!
I try to run away from prog, but prog finds me.
Like a demons whisper in our ear. We can't help but feel it's tickle in our no no squares
E quando il sound ti prende non si puo lasciarlo ormai!
Why would you run away from Prog though? 😁
"Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in."
@@divinefallfromgrace just drama. People who are passioned about each other love to make drama.
way to use a real orchestra for mob mentality, I'm sick of hearing cheap keyboards humming in the background of like every song. Absolutely stunning
+macaron3141592653 There is no other way we could have done it! I'm glad you appreciate this. Jamie spent 4 years orchestrating this himself, starting it at Yale university where he was honing his craft. We are all so proud of Jamie for creating this. We care about having "life" in our music and by collaborating with other musicians instead of midi, we can gain more of that life in a timeless way.
+Earthside omg u replied to my comment, that's never happened to me b4 but anyway that sounds incredible, wish you guys the best in the future
+macaron3141592653 That's because they are real down to earth guys and awesome musicians!
+Earthside awesome
+Earthside I don't know if it was Daniel's idea to do that F5 in A Dream in Static, but it was perfect. This entire album is absolutely amazing.
7 years have passed since the day this fantastic album was published. And this album is still as amazing as the first time I heard it. Always giving me a lot of shivers, and a high sound quality. I'm looking forward to the release of the new album... Thank you very much for the effort, time and affection that you had to show this work of art to the world.
A dream in Static
I had a shock, it is amazing .... love at first listen.
shut up and give my "exodus" dammit :P
Same here!
Same here haha
Shokran Band you guys are fucking killer yourselves: respect.
Respect out to you guys
Thanks random clicks.
lol me too
this
same lol
so i'm not alone xd
well... that escalated quickly
I'm never happier than when a band shares their whole album with pride, and I bought this the same day I listened. Still listening in 2020.
same here 2020
Hell yeah dude. LOVE this album from top to bottom. Something about it is so unique.
Exactly. While, on the other hand, after Napster, I went out of my way to never buy another Metallica album ever again.
2020
Yeah this album has been in my car ever since then, it's just a classic
on 2023 still this album continues to rock, great style, great vocals, an allrounder easy to set in for a rest of mind space...
Some of the drum tones remind me of Gavin Harrison's. Sensing the Porcupine Tree influence here and there, love it!
THis is so amazing that I'm actually in denial about this being a debut album. YOu guys are gonna become an underground sensation, calling it now.
+Bryce Bruder They already are an underground sensation, this will elevate them to the next level ;)
The whole album is a masterpiece, but everytime i hear Crater i really feel like this is one of the best songs ever created by humanity.
And its incredible how crater being good at it is, it becomes even better in the album, one of the better experiences with music in my life
Oh yes. Strid is a master of his craft. I can’t get enough of that song.
So true, Crater is insane
"ever created by humanity" Humanity creates nothing; it is just a vessel for Divine imagination - William Blake!
What a nice surprise! I'm also glad that Lajon is involved \m/
that intro... it breaks my brain every time man!! and its get stronger the more i listened it.... never heard such a deep album....
listening to new gojira brought this up in the suggested vids... very cool. reminds me of anubis gate
Wow, Angelmaker vid brought me....worlds apart, lol. Love it though.
you seem like a person who knows music, could you please suggest me some heavy, dark prog bands similar to gojira or tool? Thanks :)
hmm... Andromeda is a band i like. maybe check out some Devin Townsend too..
Martin Karas Like Gojira or Tool? Dark Prog Metal? I got you! Try The Ocean. I would start with the albums Heliocentric, and Anthropocentric. Also, you might like Karnivool. The Contortionist is a deathcore prog band...one of my favorite bands. And if you havnt already, try Tesseract, and Skyharbor.
+Martin Karas Vildhjarta
OMG WE NEED A SECOND ALBUM!
40 seconds in and I already know this finna be hot biscuits!
Seriously dude! So much rhythmically im getting from this as a drummer. Never even heard of this band this shit is solid
I've let KZhead autoplay albums for hours, but fuck, 8 minutes into this one I get out of bed to see who is tickling my brain. Fucking awesome. Love & respect.
This is by far one of the best albums i've heard You've just created a monster
+Sebastián Barrantes seen them last night with soulfly and soilwork. 2nd show on the tour and they were pretty amazing
+Keith Feulner thinking of this music in context with soilwork just made it all make a little more sense to me.
+Keith Feulner Hey I was at that show! :D After I heard Earthside I definitely had to look this album up.
Probably the best progressive metal album I've ever heard. Still goes hard even 6 years ago when I heard it. I came as a sevendust fan because Lajon was in mob mentality but grew to appreciate the other songs on this album. What a cinematic journey this record is.
Jesus Christ this album is some of the most AMAZING music I’ve heard in a long long time!
Whoah man it is
KZhead actually knows what i want to listen to right now!
Machine learning at work!
same here!!!
fuck yeaaaaaah and this start to scare me
... and better than my head!
Yes its al technology
this is masterpice!
Those highs in A dream in static
Recien en 2023 descubri esta banda, muy buena musica y un excelente album!
taba esuchando tesseract y me apareceiron ta padre
After I finished listening to this masterpiece, I applauded my screen. This is pure art. Thank you for doing this!
Wow thank you for such a kind comment. We're glad our music resonated with you in such a way!
this honestly reminds me of Misha Mansoor's earlier projects, Bulb Specifically one of his tracks, Absolomb
@@EarthsideBand ok, i'm asking myself how i say this. you guys opened a new door for all of us and we are loving it. the new will never wear off of this. i'm a musician and i can't even pull myself away from your music so you know what that means " i have to learn it ". you have the stuff floyd and zepplin are made of and please never stop because if you do you will be denying a whole world of your talent !!! rock on my brothers, ROCK-ON!!!!
Wait; that's a debut album? ... Incredible. Keep on going, guys, that's the right way.
Just found this. where have I been? This gem is magnificent
Miraculous. I believe this is one of the pinnacles modern music.
wow the best thing youtube has done for me in a while was recommend this video!! THANKS KZhead!!!
same thing here, if I believe their FB page, they had a lot of traffic these last few days. Could it be that they are making their breakthrough? It's all I wish them ! :)
I think KZhead is recommending this album to people listening to the new Gojira. I guess that helps a lot ^^
Rishloo for me
Daniel Tompkins !
So, let me see if I understand correctly. You create a unique genius top notch production quality album that feels like a real life experience, with music that can be felt with every sense... and then come and share it freely with us just like that? ........You guys are absolute LEGENDS.
KZhead has been recommending this for years and I have only just heard it now. What is wrong with me?
Joseph Bastidas same here. I clicked on it one day just to get it out of my recommendation but I’m glad I found it.
Where should I start? 😝
Internet's gotta be lying to me, there's no way THIS is a debut!!!! This is one of the best albums I've ever heard, PERIOD.
is divine wonderful amazing cool metal good voice excellent instrumental this is music of quality oh my god, i love this
Good vibes
2022 still rocking!
to all earthside members I must say this is one hell of a masterpiece. I've been waiting for this level of music for sometime and you definitely delivered!! good job you guys!!👍
seconded.
This works. The orchestral element is not cheesy.
I found this back in high-school, when it came out. Listening to it again after a couple years, and I'm still blown away. This is still a masterpiece 5 years later. And will be forever. The fact that you guys are so underrated blows my mind
I looked up Progressive Nu-Metal to see if it existed or if I'm gonna be creating a new genre and that's how I found this epic regular Progressive Metal.
I came here from... I don't remember, because this just blew my mind!
I just found this by accident on one of my "lets check out albums and bands I've never heard, related to other things I like" sprees. FUCK. ME. THIS. IS. AMAZING!
This is not the album of the decade. This is the album of the life.
this is pure beauty
Majestic
46 seconds in and Im sold. This is absolutely wonderful, hope you guys tour through NC.
3 minutes in and i'm bored.
+Bill Hicks maybe complex audio isn't for you. try Justin Berber or any new age trending tracks, because you won't find much repetition here.
( . Y . ) lol, why don't you try not to be a self righteous douchebag, music is completely subjective.
+Bill Hicks I was suggesting music. perhaps you can still find one thing you like without being a pompous douche? no one cares if you're bored. if you can't even explain yourself in the simplest form. what good are you? at least have the balls to develope criticism with reasoning. I'm bored, is a fucking waste of your time.
Unbelievably special album. That note at 20:33!! Outrageous behaviour!
Man, such a great combination of soft and beautiful with heavy and driving.
Man, if it were possible to listen to this on the edge of a cave with the natural acoustics, that'd be insane.
What a turn on!!!
+sarah marie Isn't it! I could only dream.
Dread Naught what about a live version of Mob Mentality being played inside a cave in the middle of a rain forest a night with a full orchestra; and you can just sit there listening to it, while the Milky Way spins like vinyl above you, and the endless emerald green forest spreads to infinity at your feet
Connor McDermott Even though I can't take bands with me but I'm going camping for sure now cause of you haha!
Would be a cool gig for sure if I had a million dollars I think that'd be how I spent it :P
Just had to buy this. So, so good. Keep at it guys, we all really appreciate the effort.
One of the best progressive metal albums!
Gru - Cosmogenesis
This is the best thing the KZhead Algorithm has shown me in a long time.
Very nice album! Daniel Tompkins is a beast!
BRAVO.
Ordered two CD's immediately after first listen.
When you type "Dream Theater" to listen a bit of prog metal from your childhood/adolescence from the first 2000's decade, and find something better by accident. This blew my mind!
Stumbled across this album about an hour ago, it is still paused at 12:52 as I am writing this. This is absolutely stellar! Why nobody has pointed me in this direction before baffles me. It is paused because I went over the the Earthside website and ordered the album, Now I am contemplating whether or not to continue listening or wait for the physical copy and have that first listen experience the old fashioned way, while checking out the booklet.
Wow... just wow. Saw you guys with Soilwork last year, finally checking this out. MASSIVE album. Progmetal for life.
The song Skyline is a work of art
Just discovered this today. INSANE! Skyline is INSANE!
HOLY SHIT! Absolutely incredible work here. The most unique sound i've heard in a while. beautiful...
Check out Riverside.
I hadn't heard of you guys until now, and now I'll never forget you. This album is incredible!
What a brilliant album! I hear influences from all over metal and they don't replicate, they make it theirs. What a great find.
I'm sitting here at work listening to this for the first time and I'm literally frozen in my seat with tears in my eyes. Absolutely wonderful.
i shutdown everything .just to be alone in darkened room with this amazing undefined music !!! Absolutely wonderful.
iM SURE YOUR BOSS WOULD BE GRATEFULL
@Marissa I am doing the same .. Discovered their music at work today.. And loving them
So glad I pre ordered this!
I found this album by accident while I was driving to get to a mountain bike trail and for the first time I rode MTB with music. I had an awesome ride with this album!
This album never gets old. Whenever I listen to it, it captures me in another world.
I agree Daniel, the Porcupine Tree sound is back. Yet, you have your own distinct gifts. Fantastic.
A MASTERPIECE !
Pain of Salvation and Periphery have made a child!
This is one of my favourite albums in 40 years of listening to rock/metal 👍🤘🏿
i'm a musical artist and this just blowed me away.
Devin Townsend brought me here. Lajon Witherspoon piqued my interest. The incredible songs earned my love.
I thought I heard Lajon's voice.
You guys worked with Dan Tompkins. So please join the Tesseract Polaris tour for triple pleasure {Contortionist}. By the way Magnificent Album.
Damn! The Album gets crazier with time. The band must have had incredible time playing these tracks. Thank you Earthside, for making this.
beautiful
This is simply mind blowing! What a masterpiece.
Very sick album I stumbled across the KZhead suggestions while trying to find some music to listen to while raiding in WoW. Sharing with my other prog nerds.
Dat Cenarius
One In 32k LOL just downed him on Heroic EN last night!
Nice!
CursiveS me too, great stuff!
2017 and you still waste your life on WoW?
Just seen you open for Caligula's Horse and all I can say is WOW! This piece of music is pure brilliance!🔥👍💯👏🎶🎶😊 Definitely want to see a full set live from you guys!
Very Intense!! I fell down a youtube rabbit hole and found this band ... Great Debut !!! It's Awesome!!
