@@TB-um1xz is there any reason why you think cargo is better? I might wanna do cargo🤷🏼♂️

@Turbulence210 for me job security. Airlines tend to hire pilots until they furlough. You look at 9/11, 2008, and Covid. Pretty much every airline furloughed pilots. Cargo has been pretty safe. They tend to see problems in the market first before the airlines do and plan accordingly. Second is both FedEx and Ups offer a pension along with a company 401k Direct Contribution. I can't remember the extract amount, but if you put 30 years at Ups, your pension will be around 140k a year. Plus you still have your 401k from your company as well. Last not dealing with passengers. I show up, do my job, and then go straight to the hotel. There is no need to go through the terminal.

When on a trip or sequence you get what is called Duty Rig or Trip Rigs. It's a negotiated contractual provision. You are GUARANTEED X amount of pay hours for the Y amount of time on duty. For example for every 3 hours on duty you are guaranteed 1 hour of pay time, 1 to 3. It's probably something like a 1 to 4 these days. Plus daily guarantee, plus trip guarantee and maybe other special provisions for international. It's what ever you can negotiate to protect crews while on the trip. Also forces the company to publish efficient trips. If they make you wait in airports all day without flying you still get paid something. Pay only when flying. A small perdiem per hr away from base for food and daily costs. This is not pay. Hope this makes sense without getting into the weeds.

They will just fly for you and build up hours for themselves. I had to pull myself out of the school and go to another one. I’m on track now. But yeah aviation is a HUGE gamble
@@mikoto7693don't be jealous. Those indulgent meals destroy physical and mental health over time :(
Thank you for sharing your trip.😊 Looking nice being in Paris!😊
Hi Capt Paul👋🏼I must say, your new hair style is much more becoming on you! Hope you & your sweet family are well! Sending much love to you all from Michigan💕✈️😵💫
This reminds way too much of my 30 yrs flying for United… I can do without any more of that! Good luck to you.
It’s hard out there. But someone’s gotta do it! 😂
So, United's maintenance problems are still disrupting operations. Call it the Continental Airlines effect. After all, that "United" tail design is actually representative of Frank Lorenzo's Golden Parachute.
I know your life has many camera setups, and I envy you for this. Take solace in our gratitude for your hard work. Well done.
I love how this man flies a 767. One of my favorite planes that I have never flown on before but spotted. Im glad theres a Pilot KZheadr who was captain of it
How does he fly a 767? Different from other pilots? Don't they have protocol to follow?
Found ur plane on flight radar. Amazing vid ❤
Good thing about been a pilot is the solo travel you can do between flights and sample restraunts, do other business ventures etc
Wow! That was great! Keep safe out there!
Is first day when I discover your video and I must confess that I really like it !
You Sir live a good life!
Making the best of a bad situation. Nice work!
When cancellations like this happen, or even on regular flights where you have to lay over, does the airline take care of all your lodging and food?
This is awesome. 🤩
Love the new hair!
Im curious if you are mainly posted on a single route or that the assignments could be for random routes?
Happy to see the Pullman is still the haunt of airline crews. BTW, had the model room there for all the current ones ages ago.
Montparnasse, the 14th arrondissement, is my favorite area to stay when in Paris. It is central to so much.
Welcome in France sir 🇨🇵🇨🇵✈️
An awesome collab video, would be you with Garret Ray from “Fly with Garrett”
That sounds like a great week!
Good for you dealt with those delays Why not some yummy foods. Thank you for your wonderful work to keep all of us safe ❤❤😊👋👍
What a nice experience. My dream is to become an airline pilot✨️
If you want to do this, do it in Europe. No stupid 1,500 flight hours rule (making freshmen having to accept low wage jobs to get piloting experience to reach 1,500 hrs) - get to a reputable airline and apply there. If you pass all the tests and may begin training, you'll sit in the plane much faster.
@@PascalGienger Most European pilots have to do training in the US because US training is considered to be the best in the world. Calm down
His idea of "stuck" is my idea if a paid holiday
A nightcap and the next day we were supposed to fly? Did they change the 24 hour alcohol rule?
It’s 8 hours for the FAA, 12 hours for United.
How long do you think United and delta are gonna fly there 767’s for? I believe those are the last 2 airlines still using 767 for passengers
Japan and Al Nippon also fly the jets. Delta is supposed to start replacing their 767s with Airbus 330/350 through 2030. United is replacing their 767s with 787s now. However I have not heard of an end date.
Man, I would love this job!
So sad to be in Paris that long and not see much of the city. Food sounded good, though!
Alternative title : how to NOT make the best of 5 days stuck in Paris
Entrecote is the best. Ate there in 2010. The best lasagne in the world is at Clichy tavern over near Clichy metro stop in the 19th add near Montmontre.
Ah yes, lasagna, what only the tourists eat in Paris
It is also so incredible the commute distances that crew has to do to work, puts to shame any other ground based professionals needing to commute by public transport or car. 😂 Watching this channel has increased my respect for anyone working for airlines. It is truly a miracle of collaboration, dedication and professionalism.
This reinforces what I was told a few years back: helicopter pilots talk about flying, fixed wing pilots talk about where they fly to 😂
Lunch in tour montparnasse with a view over the Eifel Tower is fabulous. You have good taste!
😂😂😂 oh darn, cxl in Paris! Miss you my friend!
Ah Montparnasse and Eiffel. Two great places to have cool views
How do you just nap like that!! I could never!
You can when you have a schedule like this
I could nap on an airport floor if I had to. No problem.
I'm pretty sure your body learns that. And i'm also sure he did that a lot in his career.
Links to restaurants please
I fly out from Newark airport/UA a lot lol I feel like I’ve seen you
Awesome stay... next time try the view from the top of the Church Sacre Coeur, wich is on top of a Hill and give an even better view of Paris (and its fun to climb up)
When he cut to the part where he said “did some work” I’m shocked he didn’t have flight simulator on his computer 😂
Haha…I fly enough. I don’t need to do it in my spare time. 😂
I see you snuck that joke about the Montparnasse tower in 😂
Hey, I live in Red Wing and leave out of MSP to CDG mostly but on DL and AF, I am kind of stressed to use United ever since the Dr incident and overlooking and all that
Time to spare go by air :) Super chill few days in Paris!!
Please take care of yourself ♥️ we need wonderful pilots with sharp mental faculties.
Being a commercial pilot is my dream job. I’m hoping I can eventually fly the B757
Come to ups we have a bunch of them
@@TB-um1xzI see Delta flying most of the 757s. And luckily I’ve always wanted to fly Delta airlines so I’m hoping to do that
@Turbulence210 yeah I had the same dream. Interviewed with Delta before Covid, got offered a job. Then covid hit and they canceled my class date. Switched to cargo and have been so much happier.
Im so sorry for you you had to stay in france for 5 days my condolences go out to you
My man getting that coffee from Steve Urkel!
On day 4 did you have to try again to get out, or were you able to stay downtown continuously until you departed on day 5?
Definitely a UNITED experience. EU rules allow passengers a full refund for cancelled flights and partial for delays more than 3 hours.
God bless you Sir
“Who’s in Paris?” “Mylayoverlife, he’s been there for a year now due to cancelations and aircraft issues.”
Were you staying at the Pullman?? I even remember that coffee lady! Lol
I’m a flt attendant and I’ve had about five trips similar to this pilots. When I’ve hade them, it’s like no other job. I’ve had my plane break down on a Caribbean island, just to go back to the all inclusive hotel to chill out another 24hrs.
Being stuck in Paris sounds fantastic
Did you get paid for the canceled flight too? Or not because you were on a trip already? I'm under the assumption that if you were to get to Newark and the flight canceled you would still be paid for it.
I just flew into minisoda today from Portland oreagon and loved it
Is that route a 757 or 767 aircraft?
Went to Europe except Paris I hope one of those days❤
Definition of any flight within Europe: *Delayed* *Cancelled* *Permanently Grounded*
My biggest fear why I don’t do long haul I’ll stay domestic. For now but keep up the good work core four
Hi Paul, Quick question, do you have a R-ATP or an ATP and to be a United captain which one do you need?
Great video!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 do more videos! Well done!!
The new terminal in Newark is pretty nice.
I would be interested in a close-up of what looks to be an interesting vintage watch . . .
Living the life.
Do you get any kind of pay for those days you get stuck due to cancelations?
You get per diem on layover
@@mesbahulhoda9539wich is
When on a trip or sequence you get what is called Duty Rig or Trip Rigs.
What aircraft did you fly (im an avgeek)
This could be my life. But I have anxiety in cars and I don’t like heights, fast speed, and things I can’t control. I never stood a chance. 😂
What a fun life. I am so jealous.
I’m gonna tell you all of the United 54 details: It is a 767-322(ER) and the route is from New York KJFK to Paris CDG and the callsign is UA54 (UAL54).
Did you DH on day 5 or operate the flight?
Hope I can make it to your level before hiring comes to a close!
Man you had a drink with every meal except breakfast.
Bro i love pilots ❤
