Lol this is just for TV/ internet. As a former Tesla worker, management will tell you straight up do not talk to Elon unless you want to get fired on the spot. Believe me these guys are more scared than showing *respect. Everytime Elon visits, we must be on our best behavior and best ability or off with your head! But it's very rare for Elon to be at the Tesla factory unless really bad things are happening. He's more focused on Space X and other pet projects with his engineers. Assemblers like these guys are insignificant ants to him and Tesla (probably why the black clothings we have to wear), they cycle through workers like every few months because it is production hell (burnout rate is high).

Yes, people act differently on camera, however upper management at virtually every other company would expect the employees to get out of his way, and a memo would have gone out from his office reminding everyone of that. Elon does not act as though he deserves royal etiquette, even after decades of being super rich.
It’s actually a big part of leadership.

I hope Elon's gesture near 5.15 doesn't go unnoticed... He was asking permission from his employees to "interrupt" them and film them for the internet. What a great leader, built the company from the ground up and remains so grounded. Realizes that at the end of the day, they are hard at work too. Small details make the leader.

It was eye opening to read about and I was disappointed in Elon for that - of course he'll be polite to workers when he's on camera. Never the less, Elon's doing great work on propelling energy and transport tech into the future.
I love that guy. He's very humble, he treats his employees well, the guy is a billionaire and he's getting a youtuber for an interview. One day I will go to greet him in person, who knows how to work as an engineer there.

As an employee at Tesla, I can confirm that Elon literally beats up a random employee everyday. Luckily, I haven't been beaten up yet but you never know. Only the huge paycheck which I get has kept me from leaving that job.

Elon just seemed like one of the crew, he didn't phase anyone, no one jumping to attention because Elon is there. All seemed equal. Great stuff. They mostly likely respect him because he knows every step of what they do, he understands, he listens, he makes it better, he cares about the staff that make his cars. Without them there are no cars. He's not some muppet in a suit. Love the way this guy gets things done.

Andreas Lindhé Yeah he did a good job being an introvert and not putting Elon on the spot like some "professional" interview. Elon didn't feel much pressure from marques which allowed him to speak authentically and in depth.

I was thinking the same. You know how often an artist is way more comfortable on stage than off stage. This is clearly Elon's stage. Amazing to see. He's also probably the only CEO with a tech company out there who actually spends so much time on the work floor.
