  • Lots of comments here saying India discovered water on the Moon and India landed at the South Pole. Both these claims are false. 1) Chandrayaan 3 landed 600 KILOMETERS away from the South Pole, at 69 degrees south latitude, nowhere near the South Pole. ISRO officially states they landed NEAR the South Pole (which is already stretching the truth), but many uninformed people and news outlets (and sadly sometimes ISRO itself) stretch it even further by saying they landed AT the South POLE itself. It's like saying Alaska is at the North Pole or that Mumbai is at the equator. 2) India did NOT discover water on the Moon. Yes it was the Chandrayaan 1 spacecraft but it was a NASA instrument (Moon Mineralogy Mapper) that did the discovery. India didn't make the instrument, nor did they come up with the idea for the instrument. The spacecraft was merely the delivery truck. Do you give credit to the FedEx driver for creating the packages he delivers? Furthermore, the reason NASA created that instrument in the first place was because previous NASA/US missions (like Clementine) had already built up a large body of evidence that there might be water at the South Pole. I wish India all the success in the world but they're getting way too much credit for things they DID NOT DO. Facts matter.

  • Sadly, I feel China is already on the path to overtaking the US. Everyone's head is in the sand about China and their dominance. It's game over already. I admire the optimism we have here, but I look at China's influence growing around the world and America's waning influence, which makes me pessimistic as to the maintenance of the hegemony of the West.

  • The Moon is apart of Earth's life you might as well say. We all, every nation needs to work together, not against one another to go forward out into space, to represent the human species. These competitions to beat each other and start claiming pieces or areas of the moon, is going to not be the big problem. The biggest will either be when they start destroying the moon in some form, which will affect life here on Earth. Or when other life forms who are not friendly start coming to visit. So I suggest everyone show some common sense and start working together, before we all lose.
