Camping in a classic Land Cruiser | ASMR - Solo Adventure Travel in Utah [S6E11]

In this adventure our 1980 FJ45 Land Cruiser comes out of hibernation for a peaceful drive through Utah in search of adventure and the perfect camping spot. This is a whole new style of story-telling as a creative challenge to myself: to tell a story without saying a single word or playing any music. Call it ASMR or call it experiential; either way I had fun doing something new as a film maker!

I needed a creative challenge... and so I decided to try telling a story using only visuals and sounds. What do you think? Should I do one of these every so often?
Absolutely!

ASMR Overlanding!
Certainly🏕️👍. Outstanding content my man!
I love camping videos (silent) like this. just the sound of what you're doing, the truck and of course mother nature.
I think what I like most about this format is it captures the reality of solo camping. Many people get caught up in the gear and the "highlights" that often get the focused attention in content. The truth is that the passion for gear only takes you so far. Overlanding, solo camping, etc has the majority of moments where solitude is your only friend.
I love seeing The Beast in its natural habitat. Easily one of the coolest trucks ever built. Bummer about the steak. I've done that many times. Quick rinse with water, and into the belly it goes! A little dirt never killed anyone 😝
What a great piece of storytelling... really had me hooked from the start. The real sounds of adventure!
Thanks so much, Tim. Glad you enjoyed it! You might have to ship that 40 series to the states and do a trip with the Beast one day.
Kevin, I absolutely loved it, it's OK to wash the dirt off and devour it
Loved it Kevin! Early morning on my day off, quiet house and only the sounds of Nature and Beast. More please.
Oh how I miss my FJ60. It was so solid and original. I love the sound of the transmission whining and how much torque it had. I would sleep in the back and have a walmart tarp over the open back window bungeed to the frame with an old tent pole making a roomy shelter to sit under in the rain. Enjoy her my friend and I hope to see more video's like this. Thanks.
I love a good 60 series too. Such beautiful rides
This was simply amazing! I waited and waited for you to talk...then I realized. Epic episode!
Great intro- the feeling of peace by yourself in your garage. Then into ASMR over landing. Much win!
I really enjoyed making this one! Thanks for the feedback!
This was a genuinely unique video as compared to your normal format. I of course wouldn’t want them all like this, but it was a fun viewing experience. I would like these every so often. Without music and commentary the peaceful solitude of solo travel really comes through.
ASMR for overlanders. love it.
Great video, love the FJ45. next time Ill join you.
Thanks for sharing that you dropped the piece of steak. I think that happens more often than many of us think. I camped with 3 old friends about 3 weeks ago. The one who cooked the steaks dropped 3 out of 4 of them. It's really is a good lesson. Protect those steaks, move them around on a tray or platter large enough they can't fall off. Cut carefully. Often knife cut free suddenly and food can be sent flying. Remember this lesson!
Definitely in need of a dog companion for solo traveling
Well thought out. Thanks for putting the trip together and sharing it.
LOVED this video style and its serenity!
THANK YOU KEVIN! love the natural sounds and content!
Hoohoo! Can’t wait 👍 I love classics😁
What a great video. Love the format. Love the sound.
Awesome truck, great format!
Thanks, Danny! Glad you liked it!
Very good. This seems like a transition into a new level. Thanks for all the hard work.
Loved it mate, suited the solo trip perfect
geez this build is sick
Love it… these are most of my getaways
That was perfect. Thank you.
I loved it
I loved it. Very well done.
Mesmerisingly beautiful, fantastic filming 👍
Perfect truck.Perfect spot.Perfect meal.Well done Steak.
Such a work of art. Oh and the video was pretty good too.
Very stylish loved it , reminded me when I had a FJ40. I seriously use to sit in it and dream I was in Africa, ,,,,,, for a piece of steak like that I would go to the 60 second rule .
Great video...nice format. My '81 fj43 would love to experience that beautiful scenery. 👍
Mesmerisingly beautiful, fantastic filming
Loved it! I have an 2007 FJ standard transmission for my winter driver.
Lovin the Nat Sounds!
i can always appreciate a good silent adventure! new here! good stuff man!
Just the basics, nothing else, pure and true. You should do it again with that awesome family, I think that would be cool 😎
I wish Toyota would build an FJ for the American market like this. A simple aluminum body on frame, box on wheels with solid axles, front and rear lockers and a big straight -6...or a V-8. ...maybe a diesel option. A super low crawl gear, and an optional manual trans. No electronic crawl control or fancy computer controlled traction stuff. Able to accept a 35" tire without rubbing or trimming. Factory steel wheels. No cameras, no power or heated seats, no power windows. A large fuel tank....like 30 gallons. Off-road bumpers, winch, rear swing mounted spare tire. Skid plates and rock sliders. Lots of additional blank switches for lights and accessories, and pre-wired for an additional battery. A tailgate. Comfortable seats for long trips. Rhino liner or Line-X on the floors....is that too much to ask, Toyota?...just keep it simple and bulletproof.
Very much a Go 4x4 video from down under. And I dig it.
Would like to see more of this baby overlanding! Subscribed 🤙
Vintage land cruiser👏💪👍🇵🇭
Keep on trucking man, lovely video.
Stunning video
That Toyota looks sweet! Nice job on the build.
Closing that door sounded so good. I was hooked! Something about classic vehicles that’s mesmerizing to me. I have a 21 trd but i love my 96 4runner more 😅
We liked it!
Great video! Sometimes we just need no words. I’m looking forward to this weekend in Jackson Hole with few words, kind of like your video.
Great video. Love it
Thanks so much!
What a stunning truck 👏👏👏
5 second rule :). Awesome video. Love the vehicle. Totally jealous of the solo time.
Why i am so more delightfull with your overland camp with these landcruiser than any other modern car? Its weird feeling.. but its great combination of classic and freedom.. need more video with this landcruis
I liked it. Thanks
I enjoyed it 👍🏻
Rinse it off and eat it. Great video. I'm ery happy to see the old cruiser out and at it.
Awesome truck and video 👍🏾
Thanks 👍
What a beautiful machine..
Very nice Kevin. Time for an outing in my FJ40
Thank you! Yes, time in a classic is always good for the soul!
Nos encanta el contenido que nos das!!
Love it
Awesome
Very satisfying ,and the steak was amazing looking 😀🌴
Been watching ur videos since ur Vancouver Island days...u guys are in Belize...and I just spent 11 days in some beautiful parts of Canada...(6 days in Vancouver Island -Salish Seaside RV resort) Banff, Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Whytecliff Park, Nanaimo, Victoria, Empress, China Town, Sooke Pot Holes, Sky Walk and few other places...I know...touristy...but we have a 6 an 9 yr old with us...leaving tomorrow July 20 to Washington coast, then Oregon coast, red wood trees an S.F. then home in the L.A. area...27 days total...and absolutely loving it! Enjoying watching ur videos and an amazing Pan American trip.
That pop up roof is really cool. I wish Jeep created something like this on the gladiator chassis. An overlanding van with a pop up roof.
Now that would be something!
I like how well your pop top blends in. Have been thinking the same thing for my 43 Dodge. It has a giant hole already.
This was something different and its good to change it up a little
Nice film work Kevin. 👍 And the steak just had added a little overland seasoning.😁
This is very Chad of you! I shall call it Living the Troopie Life! Nice video! Love y’all!
The second you backed up I started laughing. I know the feeling.
I've watched many of y'alls videos and enjoy them, but this one was really cool as well. Kinda makes you feel like you're there and just thinking, similar to when you're actually going out wheeling or camping. Good idea and great execution. The shot when you arrive at the campsite and get out of the truck was especially good. I bet you wanted to walk over to the camera! Thanks!
Wow that’s a awesome 4wd it’s a credit to you for resorting it to this condition it would be a shame not to enjoy it thanks for sharing your story it was amazing 🇦🇺👍⛺️🔥
Thanks! These were built to drive!
Loved it, like in a song when the vocalist gets out of the way and the music is left to do the talking and tell the story.
Muy bueno !!!!!
I loved this style. I much prefer the sounds of traveling and the sounds of camp vs music. Although I do like your choices of music compared to some of the other popular KZheadrs with their overly dramatic cinematic tunes.
Legend
WooHoo, but OH the multiple clutches I have killed on vehicles over the decades. Ouch I so want a similar ride, maybe you can do a video or Patreon Education Chat over coffee on how you research to find your wheels? What you know I don't! Loved 😍 this ride along. Love, and Hugs to ALL the family too.❤
Thats a sweet looking rig… wouldnt change anything about it….
In the style of Fish13! A little odd at first, but becomes absolutely mesmerizing. ASMR is a great way to describe it.
Very nice
I liked the video.
Been there done that with a steak. I simply rinse off the steak real good then give it a quick sear again. The trick is to be happy with a medium steak instead of a medium rare steak. Thanks for sharing.
Nice job putting this video together. I know the pain of dropped steak in the dirt. I have done this a time or 2 as well. I washed it off and still ate a mildly gritty steak of dirty.
Wow
Cool
I have seen some B 0 ring staff in my life your videos are just ultimate 😂
Loved the video. Also in Australia we go by the 10 second rule. But if it's steak we can accept 5 minutes. Especially when out bush. Brush it off and eat that bad boy!
Wow!!! That Troopy , is awesome. If you had it shipped from Aussie Land, the cost , plus refurbishing her lots of $$$$. But worth every $. Three of my buddies had the Landcrusier Pick ups, and 2 had the landcrusiers back in the early 80s here in British Columbia, Canada. Cheers & many happy miles.
It was imported by someone else back in 2008 ( I think) We've been slowly restoring it since 2013. It's been fun! lso.link/beast is another video about some of the work.
You said it "Peaceful "!
It really was so serene!
Although I do understand and appreciate the artistic style of the silence. It is not my cup of tea, but anything with that rig is worth watching. I love it. Like Simon and Garfunkel (Or Disturbed for the youngins) said the Sound of Silence.
Ya got me at Porterhouse
🤠 epic
Great video with the Beast. Sorry about that steak though.
Thank you so much for sharing an Asome Beast, I enjoyed the ride and the sunset. Now I can go get something to eat Cheers ❤
That was great, I could taste the steak🤣🤩🥃🥃🥃🥃 I think mine was the piece you dropped, little rinse and it was fine😎🤩⭐️⭐️
Thanks for riding along! I really tried to wash it off and it was still a no-go. Landed right in that Utah dust that embeds into everything. Steak grease soaked it right up. 🥺
@@LifestyleOverland that’s just more flavorful; seriously; I’ve done that myself( I rinsed mine with whiskey; Johnny Walker🤩)
5 second rule. Wash that steak off.
Oh trust me, I tried. It landed in some of that Utah dust that instantly cakes on. Definitely a no go.
Well, some small predator had a good meal..not the end of the world.I can’t tell you how many MRE’s I shared with indig personnel in the Horn of Africa.
That’s what I thought 😂 wash the steak
We need a video and tour FJ interior. Cover the tent and interior liveability….or potential build out liveability.
I was cool. This is what the Go4X4 channel is all about.
Hey Kev, just had a random thought when I saw the empty factory number plate bracket, and thought HE needs a " novelty " LIFESTYLE OVERLAND number plate there, You can take that idea and run with it, And maybe even wack em in your merch store 👍🇦🇺
What was the change you did to silver to add a new screen system to the dash?/ Nav, Audio, Diagnostics?? I want to do the same. Was it any good?
Машина красивая, еда тоже. Привет с Байкала Россиия.
Dude, so you dropped it. It was already overcooked, rinse it with whiskey and drive on bud. Lol anyways,, nice dad's night out. Excellent
Great video. Sorry about the steak…😅
24 hours of peace ....... 2kids and a wife ....
