  • I completely understand that you have to work besides renovating, and God Bless your Mom and Simon, they are super stars in my book. I wish you could put out 2 videos a week and take on lots of sponsors. I wish you could buy a tractor, just a little one, or a digger. I'm just really glad to still have you here and putting out videos. You have got me hooked on Portugal videos I follow about 12 KZheadrs just from Portugal, I'm too old to travel, or I would definitely come at least visit.

  • I just watched a video today about drip irrigation and the lady had a couple of tips to avoid leaks. 1. Buy all the same brand of irrigation as different brand sizes might be off 1 mm here and there and then connecting them might be difficult. 2. Do not heat or use hot water to put the connectors together as this can cause leaking as well. It was suggested to use a small amount of dish soap to help slide the peices together more easily. Good job tough! Looks good. I hope you can fix the leaks :) oh, it was also suggested vo habe a back stop valve at the tap. Something like that. Im a little suprised you didnt change the layout of your buildings. Now your kitchen/living room is going to block the view of the land from your mothers room. Was there a reason you didnt change it slightly?

Does Portugal allow for leech fields? If not, are you going to dig for a septic system? How big a tank would you need? Blessed Be!

  • Have you confirmed that your single faucet can support that much linear meters of drip tubing? Usually they have specifications about how many meters can be on a single line to be able to have enough pressure to ensure that the drip tubing is working correctly. I'm on about version 4 of my garden irrigation system and that's one of the things that I learned the hard way. At a minimum you may want to add those last two beds on a separate line. It's an amazing transformation that you have made to your land. This was a good overview of all the things to consider when taking on a project / life like this.

    • Thank so much for your comment! At the moment, I still haven’t fixed the leaks due to the heavy rain but I’m having a window from tomorrow. I will check if I have problems. Once all the leaks are all fixed, should I let it run and then see how it goes with the drip system? And then adapt it? That makes a lot of sense though. Fingers crossed it works but if not, I already then know what to do as per your advice! Really appreciated it!!

I also worked with a woman from Europe, who would have to ask our Mexican coworker for a word occasionally. We did order all her paperwork for corporate and banking in Spanish though.

    • The accents are mainly distinguished as European Spanish and Latin Anerican Spanish. As all English speakers, we understand each other very well with the occasional moment - such as when a Texan meets a Scotsman - of fun. I have never met a family, even just a 2 member family, who speaks a foreign language or the language of the country where they live instead of their own language at home in private. I know English is always the language of choice when in multi lingual contexts and I'm beginning to suspect this is not only because we all speak it but also because English speakers are in the main notoriously unable to learn other languages.

Mom’s house is nice and your tiny home is nice too. So I know you have warm comfortable spaces to live but the ugly building is so depressing. I know I wouldn’t have it in me to do this project.

I’m super impressed how you’ve all just mucked in, learnt new skills along the way, and generally just got on with whatever needs doing. I’m sure your house will be amazing, given how much care and attention you’ve put into the container house and your mums house. I love watching the garden come to life also, as I’m a keen gardener myself. Your mum and Simon are both wonderful and provide much needed help - to do this totally alone would have been too much, I’m sure. So now I’m looking forward to seeing the house being built and the garden providing a ton of food 😃 🍄‍🟫🌽🫑🌶️🫛🥦🥬🫒🍊🍋🍅🥕

I would love her to teach us. How does she know when to transplant? When do those plants go into the big bed after being in the green house? How do one fertilizer it and not waste money but also don't let the plants suffer of too little nutrition? She looks SO clever. You talking about wasting money? I think I've wasted lots of money on trying to produce food, but are not successful.
