Notes (read if you care idk): - This video is updated from last year's with clips suggested by commenters and other clips I added to this video, which is why the video is longer. - I'm not planning on updating this video with more clips or when the next Doctor comes, I'd like to move on to other stuff. - I'm not uploading Doctor Who videos on this channel anymore, there's a 2% chance I might upload some on my second channel www.youtube.com/@roamerfunky (which is still not a Doctor Who channel, I'm just more likely to upload there than here). Sub there if you care, unsub here if you care, do what you want. - 15 doesn't specifically react or look at his face in The Giggle or The Church on Ruby Road and I don't see why he would in future episodes, so the closest and only clip for him is his post bi-generation scene. - 14 talks about 10's face returning for basically most of the 60th specials, so I'm just sticking with his initial shocked reaction from The Power of the Doctor. - To the one person who asked, I'm sticking with the telesnaps for The Power of the Daleks for 2's initial reaction and not the animated recreations, I'm just lazy. - I uploaded this video late instead of around when The Church of Ruby Road aired because I was away from my laptop for a vacation abroad for a month and only recently was able to edit and upload this now.
15 might look at his face the "normal" way if there's ever a standard scene where 14 regenerates into 15, but it's just as likely that he wouldn't bother because he already _knows_ what that face is going to look like, and never forgets a face. (Assuming the theory that they're still part of the same timestream as a stable time loop, and that 14 will eventually regenerate into 15 and get sent back in time to his bigeneration is correct, at least.)
@@MrOmegatronic I agree that 15 may already know what he looks like from being 14, but the only issue I have with that theory is that 15 himself appears confused from the bi-generation (saying "No way!" and "Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here?!"), which wouldn't be the case if 15 already knew everything that happened from 14. Basically, I think it's the same as past multi-Doctor events where past Doctors don't remember the most recent Doctor and the events with them but they still remember everything afterward (hence 15 still benefiting from 14's backward rehab). As for the potential for 14 properly becoming 15 in the future, we'll see if that happens.
That's a very good point, @@RoamerMonkey. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, yeah.
@RoamerMonkey at the moment, I'm actually wondering if the bigeneration is the origin point for the Valeyard; it would explain why there were effectively 2 Doctors running around at that point, and certainly _feels_ like something RTD would include in the series.
@@nicholasfarrell5981 I considered that, it does make sense. We’ll just have to see how and if RTD continues addressing the bi-generation.
"Don't look at that mirror, it's absolutely furious." is a great line
Smith and Capaldi had the best regeneration reactions of the new run... Still think Baker had the best of the OG run
I wish they showed where he said Kidneys!I got new Kidneys!I don't like the color! But even he said he has attack eyebrows,so I'm good😅😂
He was my instant favorite from that episode which is wild since I've been watching since the Tom Baker days.
Me too @@BeeWhistler
I’m Scottish. That means I can complain. That means I can really complain
Almost every Doctor after regenerating: Well, it's not perfect, but there's good parts and bad parts; I'll make it work. The Sixth Doctor: I AM THE HOTTEST PERSON WHO HAS EVER LIVED, THIS BODY IS LITERALLY PERFECT.
'Sorry, half an hour ago I was a white-haired Scotsman'
"I have been falling FOR THIRTY MINUTES!" In case you weren't sure, that's a reference to Loki from Thor: Ragnarok.
I liked in the recent Childen in Need special 14 was like, "About an hour ago I was a brilliant woman, and now I'm this guy again."
“who frowned this face for me” -underrated line fr
It's really a beautiful scene.
I love how absolutely wounded 14's pride is when Mel calls 15 "beautiful". Looks like those vanity issues came back with that old face lol
and insecurity... but he does have something to be vain about, not gonna lie x)
It must be so weird, to respond to your own face, as if it is the first time you see it. I love how they addressed Capaldi being on the show before though. It really made sense as well.Very fitting
And it’s the second time that’s happened. During the 4th Doctor’s time, his Time Lord companion, Ramona, regenerated, and the new actress had been a previous guest star. The Doctor complains that she can’t just steal that other person’s face, but she keeps it.
@@rabbitfishtvColin Baker also played a character in Arc of Infinity during Davison's run
@@crazybadatoms5004 Cool, but did Baker reference it when he was the Doctor?
@@rabbitfishtv Not in the main show, but according to the wiki, it was mentioned in the audio story "Prime Winner"
@@crazybadatoms5004 I love when the Whoniverse pays attention to that kind of continuity.
‘Do you come in a range of colours?’ DONNA WHAT???
"my face is fresh on" random guy: so then i decided i didnt want to keep hanging out with this serial killer
I love how early 12 is such a blend of anger and curiosity and kind contemplation
That transition from disappointment or confusion to acceptance has always been a good lesson on how to deal with unexpected changes in our lives. That's why the regeneration gimmick work so well even before Matt Smith spells it out in his last speech as the Doctor. Except for the Sixth who was pompous from the off but that's part of his charm.
There's a sort of tragedy to see 9 saw his face only after such a long time cuz of the Time War.
I always kinda thought when War Doctor regenerated into 9, he hopped back to Earth and then that's where he bumped into Rose shortly after
@@BPiehl5587 Not a bad theory too.
@@BPiehl5587It depends on how much you include the expanded media! In the Big Finish audios, Nine actually goes quite a while after regeneration before he meets Rose! It’s explained there that it’s part of his recovery and trauma of the Time War and living as the War Doctor that he always avoids looking at his reflection… and so it’s only after he meets Rose that he feels ready to move on and decides to finally look
Doctors 2-5: Guess I'll get used to it. 6th Doctor: I'm gorgeous!
Capaldi is just too good
The comedic timing of the transition from peri calling the doctor's clothes dreadful to her getting assaulted by him is fucking gold.
So glad you went with the telesnaps for the first regeneration and not the animation. Seeing the actual actor's face is so much better than that cheap animation, even if it's not full motion.
Thanks for reminding me why I kept the telesnaps, it was at the tip of my head. Yeah, there's nothing that can replace seeing Troughton's physical appearance, even if the animation may look smoother.
6: "Each time with diminishing effect. You have nothing to fear." 10: - blows up TARDIS' console chamber and sets it on fire - 12: - sets TARDIS on fire - 13: - has to go outside to avoid blowing up the TARDIS -
you forgot 11 styling on the dalek mothership and causing a 5 mile seismic quake to take care of the stragglers
To be fair, 10 was resisting it. 12 was breaking it in again after resisting for a while, and 11 had to deal with going beyond normal numbers.
I've never watched Doctor Who myself. But I will say I think the idea of having a character that changes faces every time they need a new actor, and they acknowledges that "Yes my face is now different.", giving it an explanation for why this happens, I find that to be an ingenious idea in on itself. And from what I can see and tell, I think each individual actor does a rather phenomenal job on acting the same precise odd way, since they are all the same character, they just regenerate and changes their face every now and then. I love when they give logical in-universe explanations as to why something is or happens.
Yeah, they weave it into the story really well. I recommend you watch the show, especially the modern one. It’s really good.
And every doctor is odd, but they each have different tweaks on it; they're closely related, but distinct, characters.
@@GhostKingDeAngeloespecially the classic one
@@omnishambles5956 ok. I recommended the modern one because I haven’t seen Classic who yet.
@@GhostKingDeAngelo A lot of the Classic Who episodes have gone missing over the years. The BBC taped over some. Some foreign TV stations never sent the tapes back. Some where destroyed in fires. Some got stolen. Etcetera etcetera.
Sometimes I like to think their last incarnation is still in The Doctors mind when they see themselves in the mirror
They are. Notice how Doctor 7 didn’t even know he’d regenerated until he saw himself in the mirror. He even acted like the 6th Doctor until he discovered he’d regenerated.
I about fell on the floor when the third Doctor says the eyebrows could be quite useful on the planet Delphon(?) where they communicate with their eyebrows.....I miss Capaldi!!!!
Six trying to show peri his reflection by shoving the mirror in her face is so subtle but absolutely hysterical.
The ' i am still not ginger ' is so hilarious
jesus matt smith was amazing i miss him
"Still not a ginger" - Every fan knows this is going to play out at some point. Also, get the 15th doctor pants or a kilt or something!
Me and lot of other ladies wouldn't mind him running around trouser less!
Well if you look at the sum total of what 14 and 15 are wearing, it adds up to what 14 was wearing before, so it makes sense; he didn't get a second set of clothes.
He always was wearing pants.
Momma says life is like regeneration. You never know what your gonna get
I feel so bad for the homeless man, he must have been so terrified 💀
I really think I like Pertwee's the best of all of them. The sort of "ooh, no. Well... no. Mmm, well, though..."
there have been many doctors but only one first saw himself while shouting ADRIIIICC
Which funnily enough is also his last words
Are we just gonna either forget the fact that literally in 9’s debut he’s BEEN around? Like in Clive’s archives the 9th being on earth is not a first, but however it works lowkey too bc it’s maybe like he’s never wanted to see himself until given the opportunity by chance when they first went to rose’s apartment??
RTD did say that moment wasn't intended for 9 to be seeing his face for the very first time, but I still included it because it is still 9 reacting to his face post-regeneration.
I took it as, he is a time traveller. All the photos and drawings Clive has, has not happened to 9 yet. 9's future adventures into the past,.
I like to go with Moffat’s day of the doctor novelisation. Out of guilt and self hatred he broke many mirrors in the Tardis. When he does see himself in Rose it may be the first or one of the first few times he’s seen his appearance.
I always theorised that the those adventures are not prior to Rose There's a bit at the end where Rose originally refuses to go and he flies off, maybe he goes on a few adventures (the ones in Clive's Basement and the ones in the current Big Finish series) are set during this period before he goes back to Rose and tells her it travels in time
@stevestevens2066 Well Nine has been around for 100 years at that point
Smith’s reaction is iconic
16:09 the way they hugged was heart warming
I reallt need to watch the classic doctor who series seems fun
It's great, definitely worth checking out!
I think they missed an opportunity with 13 - should have had her see a mirror, "Oh, no. Oh, no, oh, no! Still not ginger! ... I like these eyes though"
I'm sorry - but how do you introduce Eyebrows without his comment about the color of his kidneys? Completely misrepresents his feelings about his new look! ;)
Why do I feel special for visiting the old one after this one
Because you don't have much else in your life?
@@HOTD108_ geez calm down

I suppose regeneration (or bi-generation) for the Doctor is like recovering from major surgery.
With a particularly messy colonoscopy in the case of the bi-generation.
@@wd25awhat?
More like becoming a new person while also being the same person its a bit like he dies each time
I’d seen 3’s first episode but didn’t realize in The Giggle the communicating with eyebrows was a reference
Capaldi is the best
Great compilation!
Thanks!
So many episodes were lost.
Do I just have a face that nobody listens to … again?
I wonder if all timelords have such contempt for their past forms, or is it a personality disorder on his part
Tenth was fond of Fifth to be fair, and Twelfth was giddy over meeting First. Granted, those were more the actors than the characters as in both cases it was the current Doctor meeting their favourite.
14 and 15 seemed to have amazing chemistry straight away@@fulldisclosureiamamonster2786
I read in one of the old novels (The Deadly Assassin, I think) that most Timelords’ regenerations trend older and more distinguished as they go through life, and their incarnations are much closer to type. The Doctor is different than most Timelords’ in that his regenerations are random.
2:53 -- If Forrest Gump was a Time Lord: "Regeneration is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." 🙃
He still isn't ginger 😔
We never did get an in-universe explanation as to why Thirteen's clothes changed along with her body, did we?
Nah, not really. Kind of similar to 2's clothes also changing when regenerating from 1, so at least it's consistently inconsistent.
Power of the Daleks is a legendary episode tho
I know. Binning the first story of a "new" Doctor is so daft.
@matthwe3468 well they did bin literally everything. They didn't know we would be rewatching in the future
8:46 -- I know this is supposed to be a family show, but if I ever had cause to question whether I was female or male, my throat wouldn't be the first body part I'd be touching. 🙃
3rd has always been polite in his mannerisms, which is why he makes a good Doctor in this sense. He's polite and gentlemanly - But that's The Doctor anyway! lol
Gracious Peri was so pretty.
So was her cracking hooters!
Yes she was
every time i see colin baker's, i think of santino fontana (hans westergard from frozen) singing "i am pretty". i feel like it would be perfect for sixie.
Alot criticize bi generation but looking back at ten's line about he's dead on the inside as a new man walks off. 15th WAS 14 and was happy that face doesn't have to go away again while 14 is happy he doesn't have to go again
Always vain, this face. Never wants to go.
Regeneration is a lottery
Seven doctor’s reaction was hilarious
I feel like the fans who were disappointed that Tennant didn't sing any popular songs as the Doctor would be the same ones disappointed that Capaldi's version used almost no profanity.
The man/ woman of many faces-that’s the doctor after regeneration!! 😮😮😮😮😮❤
5 still has the strangest outfit out of all of them. Imagine if when 16 comes around they are wearing hockey pads.
I still think that goes to 6.
It would be funnier if Christian Bale was cast ao they could pull a "hocky pads" joke
13:55 so... the doctor is a believer?
Peri had the worst American accent, which wasn't helped when they gave her lines like, "Doctor, it's horrid!" or "You look dreadful." No American talks like that unless maybe they're over ninety years old and belong to a convent or the DAR.
There was really no good reason to make her American
They probably thought it would be cool for him to have a Yank friend but real American and Canadian actresses are not exactly hard to come by, even if they don't make as much money in the U.K. By the same token, I felt that the part of Charlie in "The Little Drummer Girl" should have been played by an English actress instead of Diane Keaton, who was American and too old for the part.@@potsdam28
@@MsLogjamIt was because she faked being American even off set because her agent told her it would get her the part
There's more to an American accent than drenching the listener with R's and taking a sledgehammer to the vowels. @@omnishambles5956
If they could have an American Doctor, I want a Canadian Doctor with an exaggerated Newfie accent. Maybe Asian-Canadian with a Newfie accent? Paul Sun-Hyung Lee would be great.
Ryan Gosling as The Doctor
Or how bout an American Doctor that is TRYING to speak British but can't get it quite right. He could be like "IT WAS EASY THE LAST 15 TIMES!!!"
5 seems disappointed
SOO if the Doctor can be ALL of these, then he CAN be a non human LIKE a Cat Man as well!
Always assumed that was the case given he counts his appendages so many times. Like, "oh good I'm not a horrifying squid creature," sort of reaction
You know 10th I have the same question but different when are they gonna hire an Actor with Ginger Hair to Place the Doctor so you can finally say "I have Ginger!" My conclusion to this question; Probably until your 20th Incarnation.....or how far your lifespan lasts now until the end of life...
The doctor is going to yell I'M FINALLY GINGER AND I DON'T LIKE IT
#drwhoisthebest
"I've seen it before..." love that nod to Day of The Doctor
No, it's a reference to The Fires of Pompeii.
Actually it's because Peter was in the episode fires of pompeil
i swear 6th doctor has the goofiest dress
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
If you have heard the audio plays you know Colin Baker could have been great, then they made him dress like that and the idiot BBC controllers then sabotaged the show..…. such a missed opportunity
I think CBaker's best companion chemistry was with Evelyn Smythe from the audio adventures. Their interactions actually sound like two mature adults working together, quite refreshingly.
I met the guy when he was new. He really wanted a long run, and I wished he’d had it. I guess with Big Finish he did.
Still not ginger😔
Why did Colin baker try strangle a woman?
When is the doctor going to be ginger
Still not ginger.
Dr. Who jumped the shark quite some time ago. Then it turned, around made another pass, and jumped a whole school of sharks.
Preposterous! I wouldn't jump any bleeding sharks! I would fly over them! In fact, I leave the poor buggers alone! Jumping sharks... You thickos are truly imaginative!
It jumped the shark S1E5 in the classic era when they brought in Daleks.
Doctor who has always jumped the shark it's Doctor who what do you expect it to be a normal Sci-Fi show at this point
so did he give the poor bloke his coat back? or some other clothes?
You left out the War Doctor.
He is in the video, just briefly at 06:28. That’s the closest to War reacting to his face, which is him silently looking at his face.
So regeneration now can involve sex changes as we see with the 13th doctor.
Sex, skin color, and even outward species appearance (when Romana was trying new bodies, at least one of them wasn't human looking).
I don’t like how Colin Baker’s doctor reacts cuz it’s so irritatingly egotistical but I guess that’s the point. The rest I like all the reactions of.
Colin baker's doctor was quite narcissistic so it is in Brand with him
