don't trust somebody who didn't even show us if his fix worked , he just replaced the gpu , but didn't reassembled the laptop and switchedit on for us to see if it worked
this guy has no idea, the chip is moving around because of the amount of flux. Only a thin layer is required

Hi for heat gun i use chinese BEB and preheat BEST i don't think you can do with hairdryer maybe with some hairdryer modification . Chinese heating guns are so cheap like 50 dolars

@@klajdiclaydee8077 One way is checking other configurations of your laptop or other laptops with your same CPU. It's likely that the GPUs used in those configs. work with yours as well.

now obviously im not gonna do this myself with my overpriced strix g15. but the concept is fairly simple, heat up soldering insolate surrounding components extract, wait for cooldown, replace/apply soldering. i think this would become mopre popular in the near future im gonna try this (with a proffesional obvio)
i have a lenovo thinkpad e590. This laptop can come with a radeon rx 550, but mine came without it. Though the mobo has the sockets for it. if i manage to find all the "missing" parts and modify the bios, would it work? as the motherboard is essentially the same

Karim Moussa You can't upgrade or for some laptops maybe if they have pci gpu. Chip needs to be with balls or you need to reball if its old used chip in my case was new from aliexpress. and normal for every soldering you need flux that is basic , cleaning and removing oxidation from the metals to be joined

yes there is a mark on the side with little arrow or you can use boardview or you can mark the old one on wich side it is

The power delivery on the board might not handle a more powerful gpu and the memory might be incompatible/slow with the new gpu

What are you using to keep heat on the bottom of the motherboard while heating the actual card on top? It looks like something that would provide heat but maybe I'm wrong. I solder a lot for work but I haven't worked on computers in years and I'd like to get back into it. Any links to equipment would be appreciated.

You should only be replacing it with the same card tbh, not upgrading it. Also you might run into thermal problems if you decided to use higher card

DZ due to power limit and pinout of GPU i don't think you can upgrade your current GPU ! its better to use extension for external GPU but in that case you will need monitor

Yes you can upgrade your cpu. It's a lot easier. Just make sure the new CPU is compatible

After performing that kind of work in a laptop GPU and CPU do you think it will still be durable enough to run a hardware demanding applications or games without breaking the chips or damaging it much more faster than the new one from a factory? Hope you will answer, since I had my laptop CPU replaced and is now working but was afraid that it might get broken again when I get back to gaming.

I have been looking for this , quite sometime, while many others have been showing reheating with "Oven" method, reballing, setting up external graphics card via PC card slots on the side, but I am a little confused...you replied to someone down below, if a graphic card is intergrated, then NO,...but the one you are showing, is soldered onto MB, right!?...also, how about the drivers and BIOS menu, especially if laptop BIOS menu does not allow us to get into the graphic card section of BIOS menu, how do I "jail-break" the BIOS to access, ...etc. Last but not least, where are you located?/How much it cost for a job like this? CPU-central processing unit, refers to the chip such as Intel or AMD processor, I can even unscrew and take the Intel chip away from MB ( motherboard), but the Graphics card is soldered onto the MB, ....and all other parts of MB are fully functional, were you suggesting me to replace the MB? msibanker sorry i miss somehow your comment with description of your laptop ! in your lap top case you have separate GPU .That is old model there is no integrated GPU in to CPU so you can replace that , just you need to read chip spec and search on aliexpress or google for more info please contact me on FB or mail Thanks
I once Had a Legion Y530 and gave it back last year. I just bought a Yoga S940 however it's got Intel UHD graphics, not even GTX. Why is it that High Resolution,Thin bezel laptops have low GPU's, and Laptops with Low Resolution screens have major gpus. Is this because they have deals with Intel, or those laptops can't handle. Would love to swap for an RTX

There are high resolution, thin bezel laptops that have the stronger GPUs but will cost much more. Everthing is a balance between money and current technology

Hi PLASMAMan. Is it possible to replace the Nvidia GT 525m gpu on my Dell XPS L502X laptop? The gpu crashes often, most often when its connected to an external moniter from HDMI. It somtimes will recover and give a "LiveKernelEvent " type of message regarding the crash.

Hello quick question. My laptop can't use the Nvidia graphics and can't update the driver. Tried everything KZhead and Google tells to do, doesn't work. Send to shop for repair, he said I need to format. Format it and it doesn't fix it. Then I Google for solution and it might be because I never service the laptop. Do you think that's the cause? Hey quick question. I have a 2021 HP laptop and I wanted to know would it be possible to take a 30 series gpu from an old broken laptop and somehow put it into my HP? Currently I'm running on an i7 1165G7 and have Intel Iris Xe. This is a great laptop and I've only had it for about a year now but it's not so good when it comes to games like Fortnite for example. It's definitely playable but I feel like it could be way better if I had like an actual GPU. I know that it's possible to get like an eGPU but I heard that doing it that way you are bottlenecking like 60% of the power of the GPU so it's kind of pointless to do. I am super interested in doing this I have a gateway nv52l06u that I've done some up grades to already but the igpu is horrible I've already upgraded my processor to a amd a10-4600m quad core 2.3ghz with 3.2ghz turbo from a a6-4400m dual core 2.7 GHz huge upgrade also upgraded my ram to 8gb of Kingston hyperx impact ddr3L 1600mhz cl9 over the 4gb of Samsung ddr3 1333mhz also upgraded my 500gb 5,200 rpm data 3 hard drive to a crucial mx500 500gb ssd the computer runs actually pretty decent I got the processor, ram, and ssd, for $110 all together but the graphics card is the weakest link by far and I would really like to get some help on this is you could give me some
i think you cant upgrade because diferent GPU consume diferent power and have maybe diferent pinout but u can use extension for mini PCI and you can connect very strong GPU and also you must have aditional power supply
What of you removed that chip and switched that PC without that GPU, would it automatically switch to Intel graphics?

Hi, I have a few questions, I have an old hp notebook dv7-4091sf from 2011, he got an i7 q720 with an amd mobility hd 5000 series, he got a lots of ports, he is fast, but he has no battery, and I have to buy a new screen, he heat fast, a bit loud, but he is not so bad. Hi, hd5000 is in to the cpu itself so you cant change it , and also there is a differences between upgrade and replace , you can replace the cpu but you cant upgrade , because that is the most powerfull cpu in your series laptop as i know. And I dont think is worth to fix that laptop because it will cost you to much, but for fun you can do it! :) Thanks
