Thus confidence in "knowing" decreases with education, and conversely the more ignorant you are, likely the more confident you are in the things you know are "right". This video aged very well! Despite it was published 2 years ago, it accurately predicted the inflation we're going through now and the probable stagflation that could come.
And the strengthening of the dollar as other countries try to hedge against their worse inflation.
You should consider what would have happened had the fed and government not acted.
I am not endorsing the extreme bias towards corporations and the very rich of most of the fed's actions, although the system was designed to function that way. The creator is quite right about that, the Cantillon Effect, etc. However, had the fed NOT acted to support the economy with easy money, and the government not provided e.g. PPP loans, etc., we would likely instead be mired in a severe depression. Did this video mention what a rapid DEFLATION is like? Yeah, sure, money becomes more valuable. Inflation favors borrowers, deflation favors savers (though not necessarily investors!). Yup. Got it. However, as the price level falls, firms produce less. This results in less profit and falling wages. Falling wages lead to reduced demand. Remember, companies cannot just keep lowering prices to keep pace with deflation because their debts don't deflate. Thus, the best thing everyone can do is hold onto their money. Can't pay back debts, and spending is foolish for companies amidst falling demand. As prices keep falling, people begin to hoard money. After all, if you think something is gonna cost less tomorrow, why buy it today? Unemployed people and falling firms eventually default on their debts, which causes lenders to go under. There isn't anything you can do except either "reflate" (impossible without fiat money) or let the economy collapse.
@@bsadewitz I would agree with all of that, deflation is much more dangerous. But that said, we could have attacked inflation from the supply side by meeting labor demand with immigration and had a much softer landing.
Inflation doesn't result from merely printing money. Prices have to be bid up. This can only happen to the extent to which a given good is scarce. When huge corporations are the producers of everything, they can make this happen; after all, it can be more profitable than raising wages or paying more for the factors of production.

For the average person, the strategies are fairly demanding. In actuality, most professionals who have the necessary expertise to pull off such trades effectively carry them out.

The most important thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be to invest in different sources of income that doesn't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the word. This is still a good time to invest in various stocks, Gold, silver and digital currencies.
The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading.

I am an economist and also Venezuelan and let me tell you that is amazing how well you captured our situations. I have been a fan of the channel for some time now but this episode has been amazing. All you say about people using the money to make hand bags or necklaces is true. There is some people even who melt the metal out of the coins and the metal alone is worth 100 times the coin's nominal value. I agree but tbh it's because the world's economy is pegged to the dollar so as soon as countries no longer able.to trade in dollars you'll have inflation regardless. Soon this will change as people are starting to realise how the dollar is taking us all for a ride as it's worthless and it's shifting all the inflation to other countries. This is why countries like China & Russia aren't going to just sit back no more so expect more trade wars
The problem its not only the pegged money (Bolivares) Its that for many years the Chavez government emptied out the reserves to keep the fixed exchange rate where it was, leaving the country without access to any currency. We (venezuelans) are used to buying stuff or buying USD (in the black market) as soon as we get some high amount of bolivares (not in cash of course because our highest nominal bill is not even worth $1). We do have internet and 4G because they are subsidized, as the electricity and oil, but of course they work like sh$% cause they dont have any money, or interest, in fixing it.

The two initial *glaring* errors of the video: 🤔 1. Refering to money created via *_credit_* as money created via *loans.* Wrong. Loans require the money exist *before* signing the loan documents. 2. Claiming that money created via keystroke is _printing_ money. NOPE. Creating money from keystrokes is *NOT* _printing_ money. Printing money *requires* printing presses.

Near the beginning he talks about seigniorage being only on physical cash creation, however it's also made on electronic cash creation at an even greater level of profit. Also, for the record Jerome Powell was obfuscating and just lying when he emphasised that they are allowed to create money "digitally" (emphasis on digitally). "They" are also allowed to create it *physically.* That's why their name is literally on the bills they print. They issue all money both digital and physical.
As a young noob stepping into adulthood who has never taken any classes on economics finances or anything of the sort, this video was like being in a calculus class when you just finished algebra 1. So much of this flew over my head but even I can recognize that it has very valuable information that can help me understand the system we’re living in and thus help me make informed decisions. I'm not in any event joking when I say that the market crash and high inflation have me really stressed out and worried about retirement. I've been in the red for a while now and although people say these crisis has it perks, I'm losing my mind but I get it, Investing is a long-term game, so I try to focus on the long term.
I cannot focus on the long run when I should be retiring in 4years, you see l've got good companies in my portfolio and a good amount invested, but my profit has been stalling, does it mean this recession/ unstable market doesn't provide any calculated risk opportunities to make profit?
There are a lot of strategies to make tongue wetting profit especially in a down market, but such sophisticated trades can only be carried out by proper market experts
I totally concur, I have been consistent with my profit regardless of the market conditions, I got into the market early 2019 and the constant downtrends and losses discouraged me so I sold off, got back in Dec 2020 this time with guidance from an investment adviser that was recommended by a popular economist on a popular forum, long story short, its been years now and I've gained over $850k following guidance from my investment adviser.

Try short dated instruments to atleast preserve monetary value
I appreciate your approach to teaching.. To my understanding this just proves how much we need an edge as investors because playing the market like everyone else just isn’t good enough, we just need to hold onto our hopes and wait to see how things turn out because market movements are almost always unpredictable. In my portfolio, I'm noticing more red than green.
I always found the idea of using spreadsheets very time consuming and unnecessary. I just dump a bunch of money into my savings accounts each month and keep my spending money in a separate account and try to spend as little as possible.
There are actually a lot of ways to make high yields in a crisis, but such trades are best done under the supervision of Financial advisor.

Sooo, not talking about gold, but research structure. I'm published and have worked on over 100 books over a period of 20 years, and early on I needed a process to keep everything organized. Funny enough, I landed on Word's Outline Mode as the solution. You don't have to use Word. You can use any tool that generates an outline you can reorder, but the principle works well. I start by breaking my ideas down into big chunks, like chapters of a book. Once I've got a good framework down, I start filling in the details under each "chapter", like so: CHAPTER (the BIG idea) - H1 (a big idea inside the BIG idea) - H2 (a component of the big idea) - H2 (another component) - H3 (factors of the component) - H3 CHAPTER Lather, rinse, repeat... Nothing is set in stone, either. Move things around, something that Word makes VERY easy, build out the concepts and ideas until you have a framework that matches up with the idea in your head. Then, when you've reached your first draft, start filling it out. You can apply this process to any project. Just identify the big problems, figure out what you need to solve that problem, then figure out how to use those things to get actually solve the problem. It's also a nice way to prepare notes for documentation as everything you've just researched, prepared for, and processed to completion is documented for you :) Just make sure you update the outline as things change. Hmmm. Maybe I'll write a blog post about this process. Oh, and I also use Trello to organize the outlines and keep track of what's in the backlog, what I have up next, what I'm working on, and what I've completed, all with notes, attachments, checklists, and connections to a wide range of external services like OneDrive, which is where I store all of my projects. There are lots of tools out there that do these things. You'll just have to find the ones that work best for you. That will take time and patience, and I highly recommend you do take the time. I've been trying to research on this topic for almost a year. I watched dozens of videos, read multiple books, but none answered the question. They just went on about inflation and what went wrong in Venezuela & Zimbabwe. Then they will talk about the stock market and then some more bullshit. This is video the only video I've found that discusses the actual dynamics and the inner working of the monetary system. I won't say it explains everything but it gives a pretty good idea about how it works. I believe knowing this will make further research easier. Thanks a lot for this video. I hope this does well and we get to see other videos explaining more about this. It's very weird how we are not taught what money is, how it is made and how it works anywhere around the globe, eventhough we spend our entire lives runing after it.

B) How much are banks dependant on the interest on loans? C) How much can the interest be shrunk before bank's balance goes red? D-1) What is this interest actually representing? D-2) As a consumer, that uses a service, what am i paying it for? E) Are banks data farms carbon neutral? F) What's the average wage for a bank's emplyees? I havent finished the video, but if anyone knows How does the bank create money with debt? In the real estate example he used, theres a buyer and a seller and the bank is simply an intermediate between them. The seller sells the house to the buyer but obviously the buyer cant pay the full amount so the bank pays the seller the full amount and loans the buyer money in the form of a house. They had to pay their own money to the seller, so how are they creating money? Or is that not how it works?
