How to: PERFECT WINGED EYELINER for Hooded Eyes (Beginner Friendly) - Soft and Thin Winged Liner

I think eyeliner was one of the first things that most of us bought in our makeup bag . But it is probably the last thing that we can master. Even after years applying eyeliner, it still sometimes took me 10 to 15 minutes to apply perfectly. Through a lot of trial and error, today I'm gonna show you how I learnt to perfect winged eyeliner on my downturned hooded eyes.

  • Your eyes are just like mine-double eyelids and limited lid space! I've made all the mistakes that you talked about in the beginning of the video :) Your advice is 100% legit!! One advantage is that our hooded eyelids are already very defined, so we can get away with just tight-lining if we don't want a flick (or even no eyeliner imo). Great tips Kelly! I'm looking for a waterproof liner for tight-lining (I don't want to support Maybelline bc it's not cruelty-free). Any further suggestions for oily eyelids + watery eyes? :)

    • You can try out the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eye pencil or Nyx eye pencil but I don’t know if they’re cruelty free or not. I couldn’t agree more with you about just tightlining, that’s what I did all the time before I figured out how to make the winged eyeliner look good on me, lol.   • Thank you for the tutorial :D. I have monolids and epicanthic folds, but I don't know how to do flattering eye makeup on monolids so I use lid tape to create "double eyelids", then I have hooded eyes instead LOL. I used to apply thick eyeliner as you demonstrated at the beginning, which ended up taking all the space and when I open my eyes the eyeshadow is barely seen. So far I find thin eyeliner with light-colored eyeshadow close to lash line the most flattering for my eye shape.

    • For eye makeup, if you use waterproof mascara or do tightlining, it’s really hard to remove with just micellar water. I recommend oil based makeup remover instead 😉

    • I use the cleansing balm to massage my eyes for about 30s to 1min to remove it, you can also use cleansing oil. Micellar water sometimes can not remove as good and sting the eyes if you have sensitive eyes.

  • I used to have very hooded eyes. Fortunately I had an upper bleph done. I am still a little swollen and I will not use eyeliner. It only makes my eyes smaller so is a big no for me.

    • So sorry to hear that but in your case the best bet is to go with the puppy eyeliner. Have you tried the bat wing liner? That one can go over the hood and turn out really great for some people :)

    • I know how you feel! Before I figured out how to make it work for my hooded eyes, I didn’t wear eyeliner at all because every time I put it on it just didn’t look nice, I just removed it right away. Don’t give up, girl, I have a few different methods to do eyeliner on my channel, you should give it a try!

    • I have been there! To keep your eyelid taut, when your eye closes use your finger on the other hand to keep the lashes in place then draw, hope it helps! 😉
