  • The bit about Mojang's commitment to environmental awareness is especially hilarious when you consider how the game has from the beginning practically forced the player to be environmentally unfriendly. Need resources? Dig out massive stripmines, displacing local ecosystems entirely in your quest for materials. Make the forest safe from creepers by cutting down every tree and spamming the area with light sources. Food? Just cram a bunch of cows into a confined space that's on par with some of the worst factory farms in the real world! Wool? Put a sheep into a small containment chamber, it will be sheared automatically every time it regrows its wool! Villagers? Best, most efficient way to use them (and least frustrating too!) is to cram them into a small space where they must stand forever, never able to sleep, always waiting to restock their trades, and always in danger of being turned into zombies, and you'll Stockholm Syndrome (ironic) them into giving you massive discounts by curing them. Mob farms? Lots run off of inhumane methods - iron farms rely on villager torture and gold farms rely on zombie pigmen trying to trample and crush turtle eggs, which btw can never hatch because they're not on sand - congratulations you have condemned innocent baby turtles to purgatory for a valuable resource. List aside, it's absolutely asinine that Mojang doesn't want to add real life animals because "muh environmentalism" when the game has from its very inception, all the way up to the present day, *encouraged* environmental exploitation.

    • I never archived anything in Minecraft, because I had to replant every tree and leave all terrain exactly as I found it. I would carry wood block to build ledges for climbing, because I didn't want to destroy the natural mountain cliffs. I was horrified when I saw other people playing the game and leaving huge parts of the world in ruin. If you play this game as a game, then obviously the optimal way is to ruin the environment to gather as many resources as you need as fast as possible. But if you want to engage in the tiniest amount of role-play and treat the generated world like a real world that was given to you to care for and keep and make beautiful, then it's not optimal at all to ruin the view you have behind your window. It's like Sims, playing to win is not the intended way to do it.

    • Am I the only guy who doesn’t confine villagers to small spaces? I let them just wander around town and wait on them to return to their workplace. Maybe I stalk them and steal their bed, but I wonder how many people share this same method.

    • @@boogie6419 I am fine with walling off the Village to keep them safe but Most People already move them to their all over so what do you lose by trapping the villager in a cell? Nothing. Something like that happened in Terraria where most people would make Apartments or Prison Cells to mass horde the NPC's and they added a tax if you horde the NPC's... with expected fire and brimstone. The only reason the NPC were mostly spared is due to they added a Teleporting System linked to the NPC's

    • While I agree with the sentiment, and abhorre the idea that video games make you violent, we have tangible examples of how widespread art has affected peoples views on animals. There is a strong correlation between the release of Jaws, and the number of sharks killed by us. The image of sharks seems to have been heavily tarnished by Jaws, and the author of the original book tried and failed to fix their reputation. They might be an endangered species because of the cascading effect of ONE piece of art. So I don't blame Mojang for being worried by the effect of such a large scale succesful game on people's perception of these animals.

Terraria is WAY WAY more focused on fighting & looting hostile mobs than Minecraft ever was, and over the past 6 or 7 updates Minecraft has become less & less combat focused, adding mostly peaceful mobs and/or mobs that drop no loot and/or you're just "not supposed to attack or kill at all". Heck, they've been working on a combat update for years and there's no sign they ever actually intend to include it in the game. Mojang seems to be on a trajectory to make Minecraft peaceful-mode-only by default.

The bat, make it destroy skulk or something or give it a drop which can combat the skull or warden or to just detect skulk, boom new feature. Update pigs , sheep’s and cows textures abit for instance horns for cows, snots and tails for pigs and more fluffy coats for sheep, also muddy variants like for Minecraft earth, boom new feature. Better foliage and biomes, Birch forest, add mushrooms that grow on the sides of them, hollowed birch which act like hoppers but only move down not to the side, more grass textures that are randomises for better foliage, more variety in trees so they are bushier, boom new features. Allays spawn randomly not just in dark oak mansions, allow them to be used to move stacks of item’s between two chests/ inventory’s, boom new feature. There are so many things they add which just end up being useless and with little updates and additions it would make the game so much better. Also they need to sort out the inventory

      @rogoznicafc9672@rogoznicafc9672 Жыл бұрын
    • @@rogoznicafc9672 something you need to remember is that there is also a ton of other factors involved in adding something than just coding it in. There is marketing, design iterations, and planning. There is also any potential unforeseen bugs and issues that they might run into (which is very likely), and parity is another issue. And despite the relatively simple graphics, Minecraft’s internal code is very complex due it being a Sandbox. Keep in mind, this is a sandbox game. Other games like Minecraft dungeons can easily have set levels and monsters that nail the atmosphere because you don’t need to worry about the player breaking blocks. Id rather have a few new balanced features with interesting memorable designs that feel like they fit in the game, than 50 new boring mobs that were slapped together with duct tape in a day, do the exact same thing, are buggy, and absolutely destroy the game balance. That’s not even taking into consideration making sure the path finding is actually good, and also the fact that an update that large that comes out that quickly might feel way too overwhelming for some players. And the developers who have said mods are easier to work on used to be modders themselves (ex: kingbdogz is one of the creators of THE original aether mod). Unlike modding, which uses an existing framework, the developers are working on the base game and have to create features from the ground up. Also, not all 50+ developers are coders. Some of them are artists or work on sounds and music. And even then, some developers also mainly fix bugs or work on back end technical improvements. Also, the last time an update only came with one new mob (besides 1.17 which focused on overhauling worldgen, and 1.15, which was a much needed bug fix update) was 1.9, which only added shulkers (and even then, they also added skeleton traps). Adding a bunch of new blocks and flowers in a biome sounds nice, but they will also make the current inventory problems way worse. That isn’t to say there aren’t things Mojang does that I don’t like, but most of these are related to their design philosophy and not their content output (ex: Mojang having a bias towards passive mobs in recent updates, trying to give every feature a use regardless of what it is and scrapping it otherwise).

It’s just a pretty major issue to tackle while also making all players happy, so a lot of big ideas on how to fix it usually fall outside the scope of an update.

  • MAJOR hot take: The game really did lose it's touch when Notch left. Say what you will about the guy, but he had a vision and a creative mind that fit well with Minecraft. The dude may have been experimenting here and there, but you could tell he wanted to go places, and going through older versions and their updates really made that clear. He was willing to try things and create fun, unique creatures and mobs that even minecraft today can't recreate. The current updates might have one or two things that make me go, 'oh, that's kinda cool I guess', (allay being a perfect example), but that's it. there's nothing that's been in the game that's made me really go 'wow' like back then. (kinda makes it a stab in the chest to see them not even invite the guy who built the game to the 20th anniversary party they had) There's no drive, all the additions in the current updates have been focusing on trying to recreate 'real life' by adding in bamboo forests with pandas, goats in mountains, accurate bee simulation, frogs in swamps and... it's all just bland now. You look at the creeper and immediately think 'woah, that's weird and unique, I like it', but when was the last time Minecraft gave you that that same feeling? the creativity isn't there, Minecraft isn't the innovative, driving game it used to be when Notch was behind the lead, it's just a sandbox with an 'adventure' mode that really is just the basis for creating structures and redstone contraptions to show off to your friends, hell why even play vanilla when modded offers so much more than that? the soul of minecraft is just completely gone, man.

  • I honestly think it's time for mojang to shake minecraft up. Right now minecraft has 3 core pillars, building, crafting/exploration, and redstone. Each update adds on to each of these pillars, though typically whatever they add is either 1) too hard to get for what you get in return or 2) have too niche a use to be useful. I believe minecraft should honestly add a new "pillar" to work off of to keep the game fresh. Something like magic or reworking the potion system so there's an actual incentive to use it and it becomes a pillar of the game. Idk everything mojang does just feels like pointless detailing.

We could have a wider variety of gear where people can focus on different combat aspects (say a set that improves crossbow recharge but makes melee damage 20% less) would add alot. Make it so that full netherite isn't the final goal for everyone. Maybe there could be some deep ocean ravines that has gear suited for underwater use. If you know by any chance, I'm trying to find a few older KZhead videos; A short, maybe 57 second FNAF 2 Garrys Mod animation, done entirely in sliding camera shots over still frames. I distinctly remember a model of the sniper, maybe with that goatee beard cosmetic or whatever, and it had a slightly faster, higher pitched cover of the man behind the slaughter song in the background, also with less instruments possibly. Garrys mod map of gm_construct in minecraft textures, older video for sure. Venturiantale video, small house map, papa achachella, and a tree prop (large one) fell down. Minecraft tornado mod video, male voice with a cheap mic, further away from the mic for sure, custom asian map, he was in a rice field and got hit by a tornado, maybe british, definitely before 2015. Minecraft video from way back in the day, it was an adventure map, maybe referencing vampires, very dark, prison? Player could only break clay, had to break clay and get under iron bars. Not a video, but a ps2 or ps1 fps game, only level i remember was a gunfight in an airfield at night, highly lit up, several fighter jets, and you had to run to the command tower to get a briefcase; I always died trying to get to the briefcase or getting it and in a lone voice recording from the last time i played it, said it was something along the lines of "Spastist spy." (spas-tist) Garrys mod flood video by a MAYBE popular KZheadr, had a group of friends on a couch, and a wall of water hit them on a flat map with a custom concrete pad with ramped edges. I remember they were all early 20s around when i watched it (pre 2014(?)), They were on a couch when it hit, van prop used later. Garrys mod tornado series from around 2012-2013, person made a bathtub car with a ladder, breens desk, large wheels, and took off and the video ended. Possibly related to these videos is the avia 31 prop in a seperate video being turned into a crude flying car, 2 or 3 people in the video. Some ytp made before 2018, All i remember is a joke about one of those excercise tilt chair things being great for sex, then something about tap water using bieber to kill 99% of Germans. I remember the Discovery Family Hub logo. Might update this later with anything else I can remember, but if you recognize anything or have any leads, it would definitely help.

Seriously nobody playing Minecraft is actively thinking about the environment and learning environmental preservation while they're playing the game. In fact, it encourages the dead opposite. • and don't tell me the Warden is a "passive" mob and that killing it is essentially like "killing a blind man" that is such a stupid argument. The Warden doesn't spawn in peaceful mode for a reason. Because it's a hostile mob, and it's a hostile mob because it's always in a constant state of trying to attack and kill you as soon as it spawns. Unless you throw a snowball, it automatically knows where you are upon spawning and starts coming after you despite being blind. If you move out of his path, it doesn't matter because he sniffs you out and adjusts his direction so he can come after you, and when he gets close to you, even if you're standing still and not making noise, he still attacks. Why isn't he neutral when he spawns? Why can't you just wait him out? Why upon successfully being able to kill the thing in survival do you NOT get a reward for it? At least give us a ton of xp. Would make sense too for the biome we're talking about, but no, the community doesn't want that because they're afraid of people making farms out of it... Dude, so what? People make farms out of literally everything in this game. If you can build a warden farm in Minecraft, you've earned that right. It's a limitless sandbox survival game afterall. People should be able to play the game however they want. If you don't want to make mob farms, don't, but don't encourage the prevention of features and abilities that give the player even more ways to play. It hurts nobody. We're not playing on mass SMP survival worlds, most of us are playing singleplayer survival. Get over it.

  • I think Mojang, when they decide they're actually going to do something, it turns out really well. 1.16, the new World Gen from 1.18, and on the smaller scale Frogs and the Mangrove Swamp are all great additions to the game and achieve everything they set out to do. The issue with Mojang I believe is that they're Short Sighted, not lazy. Examples given in the video of things like Mending making Anvils all but entirely useless is a good one, Elytra now dominate the game, the Caves and Cliffs are beautiful but they're a hassle to maneuver around without an Elytra. They add these great things, but they never add things to compliment these new features, or seem to think of the longer term ramifications of an addition. If they took that year to add other things to make the update even better, a great example is 1.14 adding in things like the Stonecutter as a peripheral thing that fit into the main update and achieved something, then I think the long wait would be more acceptable. Though an elephant in the room that I think has been largely ignored, is the distrust towards Mojang that has developed over the past 2 years that is the fault of no one but themselves. It seems they've at least somewhat learned from the mistake of promising things for an update before they're done (Keep in mind the Warden was supposed to be in 1.17), but it doesn't wipe away the issues that came before. Then you have things like the Birch Forest revamp and Fireflies that could have easily been added without any issues, as especially with Fireflies all they would need to do is disable the ability for Frogs to eat them. This, I don't want to call it Dishonesty, so I'll say Overconfidence, is what has made a lot of people extremely miffed with Mojang in combination with everything else. As for their "Environmentalist Message" it's just a farce to look good. I don't claim that lightly, but they've added things like Dolphins, Pandas, Polar Bears, and Parrots, and among them only the Dolphin does anything but spawn in a rare biome and exist. I get not wanting to add Aggressive Mobs from Real Life, but there's a ton they could do with Neutral mobs and just not have them attack the player unless provoked.

Wither Skeletons should drop charred bones which can become charred bone blocks and charred bonemeal which has a chance to have an effect double that of bonemeal but a small chance to reduce a crops stage down one 3). Fill in the missing gaps of stone types (Some stone not having cracked, mossy, or chiseled variants) I mean to be fair those 3 changes alone add up to about 22+ blocks and an additional item that works as a foil for another item already in the game. You could also do other small changes like: 4). Make furnace flames look blue if you use Nether-Based resources as fuel 5). Make composter's have equal chance of giving out an apple when putting leaves in as if your normally destroying leaves Honestly Mojang needs to stop expanding outward and start deepening what they have in the game at the moment. Small stuff like this is getting massively overlooked, I mean seriously, how hasn't the stone issue been resolved yet? Why is there SUCH a small dev team? If there were double the devs, or even triple, the likelihood is we would see updates a lot faster. They could be much more fleshed out. But right now, this tiny dev team is incredibly overworked and burned out, particularly after the Nether Update and Caves & Cliffs. We already know that the Nether Update was "one of the most stressful updates of all time", likely involving much crunching, and C&C was so big they had to split the update in two halves to save the health of the team. The concept pictures of the birch trees that never happened (and we were gaslighted into thinking it was our fault for thinking it was going to get added to the game), and ofc the archeology system which we still don't know if it's going to get added

  • This is one of the reason why I think 1.19 is one of the better updates. Maybe it didn't add an entire new dimension, an it's only 1 biome, but I feel like the deep dark was actually really well done. It added an entire atmosphere that I've based my entire Minecraft world around. It added new sneaking mechanics, the largest structure in the game, and and honestly uniquely interesting and useful warden, structures, and the sculk family. I think that the deep dark was genuinely one of the most creative, and (in my opinion) best additions Minecraft has seen, which makes up for it, even if the update was relatively small. It's potential, creativity, atmosphere, and features are just amazing in almost all areas, if you're one who likes those features. Even if you're not, it's an optional engagement. I seriously think that the deep dark was one of their best ideas. The only thing it's really missing, is really more unique items & loot to get from the deep dark, which they've already started doing in 1.20, and potentially a deeper secret with the portal, which they may very well expand on in the future, as it defiantly has the potential to do so. I honestly think that the 1.19 update was a good direction for Minecraft to take a step in, and hope to see it expanded upon, and have future biomes have the same level of creativity of it. Then again, that's my opinion. Feel free to debate it.

  • Agnes mentioned during the most recent minecraft live that Mojang's vision for the game is longevity, which answers the question of why they aren't adding in huge updates or tons of mobs. They see it as they can add one mob and one feature per year and that stretches out the life of the game into the decades. We're 10+ years past the original launch of the game which is far beyond what 80-90% of most games will ever reach in terms of how popular it is, and this train isn't stopping. Mojang sees that and needs to keep it fresh and funky even at the cost of actually good content.

  • In my opinion, the rate at which the game is updating and the number of new features added is actually too much, not too little. The issue is they will add a new update along some theme and only touch on the most surface level details and then leave that feature completely alone for the next 5 years. The number of features since 1.12 has skyrocketed, but honestly with the exception of the new villager trading all of them are not enjoyable in the slightest. I think either Mojang should get rid of themed updates entirely (probably a hit to marketing so that probably won't happen), or they should at least not shy away from adding or changing features from other themes, or choose the theme of the update last after they decide on all the features they change (I think that's how it used to work pre-1.13). Just because 1.20 is probably already themed doesn't mean we shouldn't get some new nether biomes or villager balancing. This way the depth of new features can be expanded on without us having to wait 10 years, allowing the game to evolve more dynamically as it did in it's early days.

Not running a bad system but recently upgraded from rtx2060 to 3060, had optifabric but yet to install it and java chugs hard in vanilla with default settings. Yet bedrock just works. Will say after a break from streaming/playing coming back to the latest official release of the game I am pleased to see early game progression on new worlds is harder, or at least that was my experience on both versions from a few seeds I tried.

From my experience, optimized code is hard to work with, I used to often rewrite portions of codes I erased, because I had to add a new feature and it wasn't possible without a code. Bedrock runs directly on your CPU, this is why it will always be faster.

  • I absolutely loved your video, cracking up at weathered wax copper stairs tongue twister lol. I've been taking a break from minecraft for a while, but got back recently due to this beta 1.7 trend on KZhead. Sentiments that there's a lot of useless or just for decoration stuff in game. Or going back to the beta 1.7 felt more authentic, and like the world felt empty but mysterious at the same time. For me I just went back to 1.12. I've been thinking lately that's the point where it really changed a lot. It was before the world generation received more generated structures like pillager outposts and nether portals. Those structures always felt like an intrusion on my world. I always thought I'd have to remove them for it to feel like my world again, but that is just way too much effort. I don't really care for the pillagers and the drowned, I mean they are kind of cool because they add a new challenge to the game but the drowns also made the world feel less like my own, and less like it used to be, it used to be Serene and calm oceans, you could have an ocean base without seeing those ugly creatures, and you could just swim leisurely in oceans in rivers, without feeling like your gonna die early game because of those stupid drowned and tridents. I do kinda like that they spawn by ship wrecks, you could pretend it's the ol' captain and crew trying to stop you from stealing his booty. But that could be like a once per shipwreck thing. I'm kinda stuck because I really like the update aquatic overall but I hate the drowned. I did find a mod to just Remove drowned but Im just afraid it will use /kill, I don't want to kill them I just want them never to exist in the first place. With all these minecraft updates they're putting out, I really feel them because I got into minecraft from the console version and still prefer to relax with a controller rather than sit at my desk. It kind of saddened me when they put out updates on that I didn't know if I necessarily like because on console you can't just play in an older version like you can on java. With all the updates they added that felt a little useless, they start to feel a little like they should be optional DLC. I wish they were or like the sims expansion packs you could pick and choose which ones you want.

  • We see this with a lot of global franchises though. The creative team is motivated to keep Minecraft static and recognizable to market to the widest audience possible. This is probably why they usually don't expand on older features now; those features are iconic, cemented in valuable nostalgia. Instead they can add new items and features that evoke the same style and function that people remember. They're not lazy, their goals just aren't necessarily the same as ours. Mods are meant to expand the game and make it more fun. Updates are meant to strategically increase the value of the game while staying faithful to the original vision of the most popular game in the world.

Each new generation is more content, more products, more screaming-goat t-shirts and plushies to sell to make up for the fact that the updates are free. Thankfully (and not unlike Pokemon), because of the sheer size of the community, there's always gonna be someone who sees how much better things could be, and that's something I suspect we'll get to enjoy for a long time after the game is driven into the ground. I of course hope it doesn't go that way, but my point is that even if it does we'll be alright.

I never realized how much the problems with anvil repair & mending, enchanting and villager trading, or transportation & elytra resembled one another as basically just "give players the simply strongest option so they stop thinking about it", and I've spent a lot of time trying to design my own ways to play that try to retroactively undo these mechanical bandaids, only to be left with the same problem that was glossed over originally. I feel that this trend also applies to the hunger & regeneration system, as the issues relating to regenerating too slowly were remedied by simply making every food item a Regen 2 potion, when there were already two kinds of healing, and golden apples to boot! So many systems just need ground-up overhauls, and I can only hope they get around to the most critical ones. This was a very successfully constructive criticism of the state of the game in my opinion, so kudos for sharing.

Your video excellently brings to light a lot of the problems we as a community have been facing but I feel like there is a bigger problem which I wish more people would talk about. The problem with world sizes and corruption. The greatest appeal to minecraft is the ability to build and grow the same world forever and see how it changes and progresses. But sadly most people can't do that due to files becoming too large. This is primarily and issue with bedrock edition, specifically realms. I've had two worlds now that I've played on for years, the first one died several years ago and I was unable to recover it though realms. So sadly we all made a new world which eventually became the greatest world I've ever been a part of making. Massive cities and hundreds of thousands of blocks traveled. But when you travel hundreds of thousands of blocks the file becomes "too large to download" according to realms. Then you start seeing corruption issues that force you to reset the world to a previous save over and over again to recover the world. Eventually, even that will stop working and the realm becomes impossible to save and load into. We just put to bed our world of the last 4 years because it got too big. I know most players don't make it that far but when a game starts to lose it's biggest fans to factors like that you know the game has a bigger problem. The game is advertised to be basically infinite but as soon as you cross some undefined boundary the world simply cannot handle it's own file size. So what's the point? If all the work we do will eventually overload the game, why play at all? Isn't minecraft supposed to be a game that never ends? It hurts to write this because I know in the grand scheme of things my world means nothing. But, when this keeps happening to people everywhere who put equal if not more into their worlds only to lose them it's proves my point. Mojang, stop trying to push us half completed updates and fix our game! Optimize the files and make the game run smoother before adding more content. You just added massive new world generation but haven't refined file sizes? We the community need to talk about this more in my opinion not just the watered down content. What are some of your opinions?

  • Congrats, this is the best "Mojang sucks" videos I've seen. Some points you talked about have some problems, but I really liked it! Something interesting is how people were mad about 1.19 (including myself because it didnt felt wild enough) BUT I never saw this reaction with worst updates, 1.10-1.12 were the fallen age of Minecraft, just look at 1.10 it added almost nothing... since 1.13 updates had gotten bigger and deeper, and remember that they have to made it in TWO differents code bases, everything has to be taken in consideration. It's true that Mojang has some problems, but I've seen people saying dumb things, videos that in a nutshell is "mods good, mojang bad". We've recieve some insane updates, from oceans to new villages, from a new nether to a whole new terrain generation, ancient cities, the Warden one the most complex mobs they've made and so much more. The content you see on the market place falls in what you said "cute/cool mobs but pointless or useless" those mobs are just cool models, nothing more than that. And speaking of the marketplace, i know it sucks you have to pay.. but man, that let people to be able to live from making content for Minecraft, for Java we've all that stuff for free, but because creators love what they do, but it's hard for they, that's why in Java the map making comunnity is pretty dead, few people make insane projects in these days.

  • I've actually thought about this a lot for the last couple years, nice to see a video that fleshes it out well!

  • Incredible Video! Subbed! I have been watching the game since the start of 2011 and playing the game since spring of 2012, so I can also say I have seen the ups and downs of the game. The main issue it seems is just complete lack of direction and replayability, idk who calls the shots there but its ruining the game. They have one update where they add a system or change that impoves the game, (nether update, cave update, aquatic update) and then they just completley fumble other updates by adding nothing of real use. (1.15,1.17,1.19,1.20, etc.) You're bandage argument is the best I heard in a while, it really boils down to they see it not about improving the game, but instead fixing the game. People say "minecraft is boring and has no replayability" So instead of improving the biomes, redstone and other systems that exist already, they instead add a few new blocks and a new animal that will serve no purpose except give 1-2 new items and call it a update. They say its "fixing the problem by adding more things for the player to do and see" but after like a day what they add becomes boring. And when they "improve" a already made system it ends the same way as before, perfect example is like you said with the villagers. Problem was people felt they were boring and didn't have any custom/replayibility. So they made new buildings, improved trades slightly, then just made it so people could assign jobs to villagers. These additions ended up to be mostly cosmetic, and the assign jobs feature did nothing except for just increasing the size of already made trading halls. They "fixed" villagers, but never truly improved them. As for the people who say mojang is lazy or sucks I disagree too, they arent lazy thats clear by like what you said creating new systems. They just have some terrible game design desicions or microsoft forcing them to do certain things. I don't know, and I doubt we will know for sometime. All else I got to say is the mob votes are a marketing stunt 100%, the latest one seems rigged in terms of the other 2 mobs being made to look terrible by having zero functionality. And the marketplace is really cool, however I think microsoft may be the problem with this one, imo they won't let mojang add it to the game since it seems to be proiftable for them to keep it seperate. In conclusion, I agree with you completley, and honestly its kind of sad that the game seems to be returning to these same issues that kept the game dead years ago. Whether we see changes to this we will have to see, but I think minecraft is just in a better place overall then it was from 2016-2019 so thats good at least. Anyways great video, I plan to make my own commentary on mojang's decline as of late in one of my own vidoes, and I will be sure to mention your video espically as nailing the problems with current minecraft. Have a good day and thanks for making the vid!
