A man was taken to the hospital Friday after shots were fired at an apartment complex in north Raleigh. At 2:04 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the 6300 block of Shanda Drive, at the Legacy at Six Forks apartments off Sandy Forks Road. A short time later, a man showed up at Duke Raleigh Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Just before 5 a.m., WRAL's Kelsey Coffey heard police say, "Come out with your hands up." Coffey heard around 10 popping sounds.
Police said there was no barricaded subject, no officers were shot at, and officers did not fire their weapons.
A spokesperson said, "The noises that were heard were produced by a special tool deployed as part of ensuring the safety of residents within the complex."
Police were at the apartment complex for hours and could be seen holding guns pointed toward an apartment building.
