Dan Ashworth is taking Newcastle to arbitration in an attempt to force through a move to Manchester United.
Elsewhere, Marcus Rashford has blacked out his Twitter account in a stand against abuse, saying 'enough is enough'.

Getting sick of Marcus, he’s paid £350K a week, he’s in an extremely privileged position, yet his performances are dreadful, and even worse he cannot take criticism. Right now he does not deserve to play for United, his attitude stinks, his body language is atrocious and he thinks he has the right to come out on twitter and say people are abusing him? They’re criticising you for appalling performances week in week out and rightly so. Earn your place, because it is not guaranteed and he is not deserving of it right now. If he continues like this he should be sold, it’s just business and high level sport. If you aren’t good enough you’re done.

Rashford likes being a Man Utd superstar but doesnt do what is needed to walk the part. Bruno despite his flaws KNOWS what is needed to be a Man Utd superstar. Rashford doesnt work hard...pressing counter pressing. Doesnt track back. And if only he was banging in goals and creating chances we can excuse it like a CR7 used to do back in the day. But he cant even beat championship defenders. He is not creating either. Or the pass before the assist. Worse of all is the effort. He just trudges along after every turnover. Bruno and the midfielders will win it back. Or the square side or backward pass then jogging. For 90 minutes. Nothing. Then going on social media or PR interviews to change perception he is a good humble guy who loves Man Utd. He shouldnt be criticiszed or be questioned about his commitment, Then partying and not training.

I love the bones of Bruno, but he needs to cut out the petulance from his demeanour on the pitch and the hollywood passes that go nowhere during a game. The Bruno from the other night, which is the true 'Bruno' for me and the player we had for the first two years after he arrived - is simply 'world class'.

Rashford is not “ title winning “ elite calibre. Same with a lot of our players. It’s not about hate or abuse , it’s about the ruthlessness required to build a title challenging team. You can finish in the top 4 with a team of Rashfords, Martials, Maguires , McTomminays etc but compete with City / Arsenal / Liverpool ? Forget it .
My dad used to manage the bar in the Executive Suite in the 70s and 80s. When Utd got to the final in '76 and '77, all the staff were invited to see the match, with travel and food laid on. Nothing wrong with that.

'fair and reasonable' money will be the defining principles an arbitrator would set out - If there isn't a written amount in the contract. I'd imagine it will end up at a 'relative amount' to what Newcastle paid to get Ashworth, plus something reasonable like a 50% "profit".
Everyone seem to forget both parties have to agree to go to arbitration. So if Newcastle decline then it doesn't even start

It is believed Ashworth has a release clause which money bags Jim won't pay. Ashworth was happy to sign the contract with rumoured release clause when he left Brighton. Why would Newcastle give away a highly regarded ( who Jim desperately wants) for next to nothing with all the players he had scouted for Newcastle suddenly turn up at Manchester?

He's Newcastle's sporting director until his contract's up. If ManU want him now, they have to pay. It's simple. 2 million is ridiculous because it's less than what Newcastle paid Brighton. Why would they lose money on a player, let alone an executive that's 100% locked into a contract? If ManU wanted Ashworth so badly, they should have just bought him from Brighton.
If you are PSG do you want to buy a player like Marcus Rashford who doesn't look like he's enjoying football ? Is it worth the risk or do you look to buy the next Mbappe when Mbappe leaves. United have had this issue for some time. Easy to over pay for players and hard to sell under achieving overpaid players. I don't see the Rashford situation any different.
Rashford seems to be the type that spirals. When he is doing well he feels good and his confidence and form improve. When he is doing poorly he gets down and his confidence and form drop off a cliff. I assume he's getting some form of mental help already but it's not working for him, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs to get out of this slump.

Brighton got 6 Million for Ashworth and that was to buy out the final year of his contract, he only had a year left and i know that Man United fans seem not undertsnd how real life works but Ashworth has 2 years left on his contract, 15 mill is probably the right price for someone of his calibre, also YOU tapped him up which is illegal and you seem to think that you should have everything that you want!!

The criticism of Rashford has gotten to the point where it feels like an agenda and fueled hate. Not everyone is as strong as Magiure mentally is. All this abuse might be getting to his head and messing with his mind. Same thing happened to Maguire. There was a period where every touch of the ball reeked of a lack in confidence. Rashford is going through the same right now. We need to extend him some grace and also factor in the consideration that he has been there for 9 years and been one of the players who have had significant impact on any kind of success we have had.

The only reason they scored were the goalkeeper made a stupid mistake past it all nine out of 10 that does not happen, we scored four goals. We could’ve scored 67 or eight and yes, they got a goal. We are always liable to score a goal. We don’t have a defense. We barely have a midfield, but like it was close.😊
