Pinegrove is a twangy indie band who fuse Americana, emo, and indie rock into an insightful finished product. Singer and lyricist Evan Hall is a contemplative, serene frontman who possesses an intimate relationship with and an expansive knowledge of the human language. He’s acutely aware of the human experience and manages to pen astute observations about self and circumstance with genuine wonder. Though sonically somber, there is a kinetic forward focus in Pinegrove’s sound that lifts up each unconventional arrangement and unfettered chorus.

that first "I'm out", nuts
Fr, hits right in the nerves
I've known about this song for years but only recently do I sadly shuffle when I listen to it
lmfao
Real.
Sure you did gen z
@LL-ti7cn 🤣 damn your life must be fucking sad
@@LL-ti7cn wtf 😭⁉️
Back in the dust bowl my mom would sing this song to me before bed, while blowing dust off my forehead. Glad it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves!
This genuinely made me laugh so hard that I coughed and saw stars.
I didn't know chinchillas could talk
Yo I love TF2
@@cottageghost Yeah, that’ll happen when you get dust in your lungs
@@It_Is_The_Me dude wait until you discover the dustbowl irl
best version of this song...can't stop listening to it.
same.. :)
Check out the Little Elephant version
They need the man with the telecaster. He blows the Little Elephant version out of the water. His leads are insane.
Little elephant wasn’t bad, but it didn’t compare to this.
just found these guys again, I first heard "old friends" off a friends spotify back in januaryish and couldn't find them again since. Finally rediscovered again and I have had this song and session on repeat all week. In love w their music currently
Why is this the best song I've ever heard
Cant stop asking myself the same question
Exactly my thoughts
Why is it so SHORT?!
@@BennyHueENT good things never last
@@BennyHueENT 3 minutes is the perfect length for a song wym
Both versions are extremely tight, I love that everyone likes a version better than the other. That's what it's about, everyone's taste is different
This one ...the quality is sharp and clean
I’ve never thought about it that way. Excellent way of putting it out there thanks !
Imagine your song blowing up 7+ years after originally making it my takeaway: freely create, put yourself out there, and don't get discouraged for a minute if no one seems to care
Imagine a bunch of retards making a dance for this shit 🤣
right on. if someone can enjoy what you make, anyone can!
Amen Amen Amen. A blessing in comment form. Thank you.
Been struggling with this idea and not writing for nearly a decade and talked with a therapist today about it, and then this pops up immediately after. Lovely coincidence.
@@dr.kennethspeers8014I hope u get back to writing :)
It's like the song that plays when you're about to cross the afterlife and you're looking back to your greatest memories
Perfect description
The lift in the guitar solo around 2:19 gets me every time. So perfect
Gary Umstetter fucking same
it's like getting an emotional boner
fucking shivers man
Actual goosebumps
Instantly became my new favorite electric guitar solo.. tickles my tear glands
This song makes me think “things can be better” every time I hear it. Life isn’t perfect. But you can get through whatever it is you’re going through. And you deserve to. You deserve to love and feel loved. It’s gonna be okay one day in the end. If it’s not okay it’s not the end.
If it’s not ok, *its going to be ok in the end* 🙏
currently doing the pinegrove shuffle while sobbing and throwing up bc this version of need 2 absolutely kills me
Same bestie
This has to be the best performance of this right? That tele sounds fuckin perfect. The tone feels so nostalgic, for lack of a better word
infinite complexity in simplicity. theme of pinegrove
nearly ten years later its a blast off!!! ❤
This version is so fucking good. By far my favorite Pinegrove track.
Ugh, pinegrove is so good.

God this is perfect. Look at their faces they feel this music so deeply and play with their souls. I also feel it so deeply thank you for this.
so glad this song is getting the recognition it deserves, 2016 seems like so long ago.
Such simple lyrics paired with a resonating sound that evokes deep feelings. 10/10
I'm out There's nothing here to care about What's that sound What's that song about It's nothing worth me sayin' aloud So then why do I seem to Need to? Then why do I seem to Need to?
I'm so glad this version exists. The studio version is great but this is something extraordinarily special..
i cry whenever the beat drops at the beginning man
Wow, just heard this song for the first time this morning because of the shuffle trend. I then binged the entire album of Everything So Far immediately after. Amazing stuff
Did the exact same thing, have grown to absolutely love the band as a whole

This video has been on repeat for me as I sit in my dark living room at 2 am

Officially my song of the decade on Spotify. Thank you first and foremost to Audiotree for the most amazing live shows and sound engineering arguably on the entire platform. Also, big thanks for Pinegrove just for making the music they make. Tons of inspiration from them and an overall greater appreciation of music. Thanks y’all

God damn that guitar solo is so friggin good. Can’t get enough of it.
I didn’t know I heard this song years ago but now that it’s regained popularity I remember watching this video years ago
I come back to this so often it's getting ridiculous but worth it.
oh man, whoever did the sound for Audiotree, they are good. Godly good. And this songs, feels train.
Top song on my late night depression walk playlist
Crazy how you interpret this piece as a depression note. I found this song while reading some positive literature and I can’t stop coordinating the positive feelings with a happy moment.
I heard this on an edit of Kendall Roy now that Succession has ended and it haunts me
@@YourMateNate3crazy how people have different lives 🤡
I love the original, of course. But this just is so perfect. It sounds so beautiful.
Played a set in a half pipe in Grand Rapids, MI with this band, roughly around the same period of time this was recorded. Takes me back to those moments. I miss everything about it.
The mix on this is exquisite. I love how powerful the vocals feel. Nice work, audio engineers! I wish you could handle half of my music catalogue.
So glad for they're recent spike in popularity
See the singer holding back from choking up a few times during that emotionally fulfilling performance... Definitely the right type of song to write for themselves. Just a coincidence that everybody else thinks its dope too, music is something to give humanity meaning.
Can't tell you how much this song means to me. More than i can express really. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I get the fucking cheeeeels when he says "what's that sound!"
Reminds me so much of Pinback. Takes me back to long summer drives in college listening to songs like Loro…
Damn, I just heard this for the first time in my life. Idk why I'm in tears, feel so melancholic
Same 😭
This is giving Midwest Emo, Radiohead vibes and I'm all here for it
That teley is sounding sooooooo nice!! Let's go Josh!! Ya'll rock.
This is the ultimate version of this song
Evan with the AOL Instant Messenger Pin! Haha these guys are so legendary. Legendary fits for everyone in this series.

Chills and chills and chills! Every time it gets to the solo
7 years already that I miss this song my whole life😮
Discovered this band via AT 3 years ago. Thanks for another great addition to my library and for 3 years of listening pleasure. LONG LIVE AUDIOTREE

I listened to this song when my cousin died and it gave me so much comfort.
Did you listen to this version?
@@Rum-Runner yes
the drummer is just feeling it
i come back to this version so often; thought id share the love by now
this is a very important song about the making process of art jesus fucking christ i love this band so much
I’ve been listening to this song since the civil war
Anybody know the 2nd guitarists name? I know they rotate members but this dudes slide solo gives me chills every time and I "need 2" know if he has any other projects.
It's actually Josh Marre, he has a project called Blue Ranger. Nick Levine was the guitarist before Josh and was on the original studio recording but left before this was made. Hope this clears up any confusion and helps you find some good tunes. Nick makes some awesome music as well.
Tyler Wing holy shit you’re right!!! i had gotten my names mixed up!!! thanks so much for clearing that up!!! i’m checking out Blue Ranger now and it’s phenomenal!!!
dude this band just plays with such emotion. I've never felt emotion through music like this
KZhead keeps recommending me this video even after I've watched it dozens of times. I don't mind, I still click on it anyway because I actually like the song, lol.
all day, everyday! Gives me chills everytime

What a great voice my friend... melodic guitars are so beautiful! Great job.
