  • Jake did a great job on this interview - he asked legitimate questions and challenged Comey. Jake didn’t kiss his ass. And Comey answers without getting defensive.

    • Trevor, Comey always emphasized on not leaking classified information, he even didn't answer some of Jake's questions here because it's related to classified material, and regarding his friend, he said it was unclassified, so where did you get that from?

  • It takes guts to sit here and get these questions. These are hard hitting questions. Mr. Comey may have made mistakes, but he has shown what his intentions were. Seems like an honest guy to me. Cant say much for the other guy.

    • Comey was appointed by Clinton and Obama. Someone might reply "Clinton didn't appoint him." Well, you would be correct, technically, however if you remember Clinton ran against Obama and in-exchange for no longer running against Obama she got some key appointments.

This kind of brainwashed kowtowing to the party of the nutjob evil left will lead us all to nothing batter than a totalitarian dictatorship by scum like Hillary and Obummer. DOJ taking power and disregarding their oathe is like Hitler and Nazis taking over and pushing their weight around without regard for decency or the rule of law. Wake up, lefty Democrats! Snap out of it. Unbelievable.

  • After watching this full interview, Tapper was unnecessarily rude. There were several instances where he took odd jabs, and framed nearly every question in a pejorative manner. I don't know if he has some grudge or past history, but this was probably the worst post-book release interview I've seen so far. For those that haven't read the book and are curious, Trump isn't even mentioned until the end. I think the audiobook is just under 10 hours, and Trump isn't there until nearly 7 or 8 hours in. It's definitely not at all a book focused on Trump. This is a memoir after all, and Trump's interaction with Comey was relatively brief, albeit impactful. If you read the entire book, I believe most people will see that Comey's decisions were widely consistent over the years, including with the Clinton emails. Whether or not you agree with him is a different manner, but there's a reason his peers respect him. He had several tough no win situations

My conscience rules me pretty tightly, too, and it can cause me to be unpopular at times. I am such a low-level person it doesn't impact the country, so...I still do not know what I would have done in his position. All said, I appreciate that he did what he felt was right.

    @pinaopina@pinaopina6 жыл бұрын
  • It's very difficult - and one can argue impossible (see Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle) to ascertain a 'real truth.' Even when we review what are commonly agreed to be facts, our interpretation of those facts are based on our individual beliefs, biases, loyalties, experiences and values. In response to this interview and others I've seen Comey participate in - my experiences lead me to believe Comey is a man who could have slipped away and lived quite well with relative ease. Instead, he wrote a provocative book potentially resulting in significant proximal and distal effects. In the immediate, his writing may influence the fate of current US politicians. In the long term (as he specifically identified as a hope) the book may affect how political leaders think and act in the future. His hope and self-reported motivation to write appear laudable. In addition, Comey's demeanor is consistently calm, his specific answers appear measured and his body language is not consistent with one who may be lying. Finally, by writing his book, Comey has opened himself up to tremendous professional and personal scrutiny. He does not present as an impulsive individual who would place himself in this kind of public spotlight if he was concerned about skeletons in his closet. So, for the time being, I will read his book and come to the most logical and productive conclusions I can about Comey himself, the behavior of Donald Trump and others - along with the value of Comey's words. As I write, he appears to be doing what he believes is right. Until and unless that is demonstrated to be unlikely, I am going to take him at his word. As a people we are too quick to make conclusions based on sound bites... conclusions (often unconscious) designed to reinforce our personal biases and reduce our anxiety about the world. But, to overcome this mess and prevent future problems it is in our best interest to sit with our anxiety and biases and to use our intellects and collective wisdom to reach sensible answers.

  • Jake you need to truly understand how important your role is our democracy. The reason I say this to you, is that you unfortunately, are one of the few voices that people trust on CNN right now ( not to offend anyone please) . Your interview of Comey was by far the most real ( love my girls on the view though). You are also one of the VERY few that would regularly ( though not enough and I know that you'd agree) have Bernie Sanders on your show. Funnily enough, I see you and Comey as having that same sense of integrity. Shout out Chris Comeau ( yes it's spelled wrong, from cda here) for giving Bernie some air space too. History will ALSO remember those who stood up, and those who said nothing. Easy for me to say but we are in a time when even fear of losing your job may haunt you, do the RIGHT thing. One suggestion......maybe cover the big Pharma companies that are killing our citizens while making money from their addictions. West Virginia would be a great start!

I also haven't heard the question or answer to why he revealed information about Hillary Clinton's investigation, but not Donald Trump's investigation. He speaks intelligently and I find myself often agreeing with or at least accepting his reasoning as sound behind decisions he's made. But I don't think I can fully trust him.

I admit, I could have just Googled it, but it's never remained top of mind for me and I ended up commemorating my ignorance to this question in a KZhead comment. Lucky for me, the internet is filled with saintly people who offer knowledge and sources with poise and grace to educate the ignorant, so that problem is solved. You're here too. Regardless of this, I still have a hard time trusting Mr. Comey, even as I find him convincing and affable. You may relate, though possibly for more pizza related reasons than I have.
