    • Well it wasn't the greatest idea for a series. You can't really draw two coherent sides of a Cold War right now like you could back in the 1900s. Many states shown as being on the same side are quite literally at war. To me the only side you could show would be NATO + EU + Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea + Australia and New Zealand as one security bloc.

  • Needs shades of purple to show active support or avoidant support. Purple is a great idea to show neutral countries. However, concerning the white areas, there is a confusion about neutrality, which can be fixed. You can be neutral by being active in your participation to both sides, You can be neutral either by being active in your support or avoidant in your support. Turkey is a darker purple as they actively support both sides. However, India is very light purple as they economically support both sides and try to avoid militarily supporting or go too far in their economic support to be seen as active by any one nation. This would then make countries like Malaysia, Mongolia, Switzerland, and Uzbekistan all light purple. Brazil is perhaps a mid-purple? Think of Finland and Switzerland in WWII, they would have been some shade of purple that would change shades throughout the war.

      @herkon_republic@herkon_republicАй бұрын
    • @@herkon_republic The problem with white is that some countries like India, Mongolia and Malaysia have decided. They have not decided to be on any side for the exception of what best continues their existence, and that is to be non threatening to either side. This means they do not work in their policies to support any one side, but instead make policies that strike a middle ground which does not go too far in angering the other side when they make a trade agreement or military agreement that supports a particular side. This takes a great amount of work in policy making, and therefore should not be thought of as not taking a side because they have taken a side, a very strong one.

If us as humans can’t somewhat get along even though it’s entirely possible that we are alone in the universe, then what use are we here rn? We have damaged this planet and damaged ecosystems. Make the purple countrys a lighter and more blueish purple (this purple looks like miltary red side supporter) and include Usbekistan in pink (CIS and SCO member) as well as the EAC countrys in light blue 3. Include the other wars (Myanmar, Ethiopia, Somalia, CAR, Lybia, East Kongo). If they aren´t proxy you could add a orange colour for war partys independent from the Cold War

  • Personally I'd like to call this the Multilateral Cold War, Traingular Cold War (China, Russia and US) or Quad Cold War (all of the above plus India). If we're keeping the streak unbroken from 1945 onwards, then I suppose we could call the contemporary geopolitical era the Concert of Nuclear Powers/Atomics/United Nations or the Congress of Geneva. Just a few suggestions from my take on how to call all of this

  • 0:56 that resolution didn't demand a ceasefire, but asked to “determine the imperative for an immediate and sustained ceasefire to protect civilians on all sides, allow for the delivery of essential humanitarian assistance, and alleviate humanitarian suffering”. Which basically means it's a toothless resolution. China and Russia voting no meant even more pressure on the US to let through a resolution that had more power, which they ended up doing.
