  • This was when McGregor was hungry, dedicated his life to martial arts and his passion was flowing through every movement, no energy wasted. Unfortunately, he became corrupted by money, fame and power, the familiar combo that has tanked many successful fighters. It's awesome seeing this video of him just casually training at Venice beach back in 2014, next to the skateboarders, body builders and homeless people. Today, I bet he wouldn't dare go there and place himself among normal everyday people, because he is too cut off from that reality and his ego has reached heights where he may never come down from.

  • I feel no resentment towards any fighter's talk. Conor brings a new kind of excitement that I've missed in MMA. It was quiet for a while.... no real excitement. I like to watch Conor. I do understand where he comes from. I like his suits, the bullshit, and his whole act. I am just waiting what it will do to him when someone defeats him. Will it devastate him? Will he still be the same man IF it happens? We will see soon enough, because all good fighters lose one day, that's the way of the warrior.

    @ikanketjil@ikanketjil9 жыл бұрын
    • he's lost before so it doesn't really matter. like he said "cocky in prediction, confident in preparation, humble in victory or defeat."

      @thatt-shirtguy9669@thatt-shirtguy96699 жыл бұрын
    • He lost before, but he was inexperienced at that time, younger, still learning, and all that was before the UFC hype. Losing now, that's a different ball game with his expensive Rolex, custom made suits, and what ha ye. Losing all the cash NOW, and the "fame" that he so rapidly "acquired", that will set him back in a world of hurt.... unless he invests his money for a rainy day. But he likes to flash his gadgets.... we will see if he's that smart as he pretends to be.

      @ikanketjil@ikanketjil9 жыл бұрын
    • Floyd Mayweather has been doing that and risking his brand for 18 years and there still isn't a blemish on his record. Not saying Conor will do the same, but who says he can't? What if he DOESN'T lose and runs through the division like he says he will? That's something to behold. I like him and wish him the best. He believes he can, and really and truly that's all that matters.

      @thatt-shirtguy9669@thatt-shirtguy96699 жыл бұрын
    • +Adam Warlock. I agree with you. Conor was unemployed prior to the whole UFC hype. Now he's making good money. He's driven, motivated to stay on top now. Unemployment sucks, and now he's a "star", making a lot of cash, as he proudly mentions in his interviews. I hope he will do well, but eventually everybody will lose. The body is under constant pressure, so one day every single fighter will have to give in. But the guy is 26, he can fight for 10 more years, if he takes care of his body well.

      @ikanketjil@ikanketjil9 жыл бұрын
    • Adam Warlock I agree but boxing is a complete different story to MMA nowadays. Mayweather has been a pro for 15+ years and only had 47 fights. When you're as good as he is and as smart as he is it's easier to stay undefeated, even at his age.. When you have that boxing IQ that the younger guys don't have e.g Bernard Hopkins you can do things these fighters can't react too. I'm not one for knocking Mayweather and I think his resume is great but he didn't fight other legends in his younger years on his ascension and we missed out on the Pacquiao fight. Even so, Mayweather has arguably lost before (Jose Luis Castillo). MMA has way too many ways to lose for someone to stay undefeated, imo..

You may not like his personality or the amount of trash he talks when promoting a fight (or himself), but if you don't respect his skill as a fighter, you're either a hater or just don't understand fighting. The guy is amazing (as is Aldo, btw). I honestly see McGregor taking the title, via 4th Round KO, but I would not be at all surprised if Aldo remains the champion. • I am currently dealing with a mental breakdown and I must say this has cheered me up mahoosively. Last night I fell down the stairs and landed on my dog Lady Chatterly & broke her neck. She died almost instantly. I fractured my cervix and sprained an ankle but other than that I'm fine. It has just been one of those weeks where everything goes wrong. Between the sudden death of Lady Chatterly, and the stairs accident I also lost my glasses on Thursday and ended up bumping into everyone and got into a fisticuffs with one woman who took offence to me accidently bumping into her. Then I ended up sitting in on all the wrong lectures and only realized half way through the classes so was too embarrassed to get up. My nerves are shot now so this just what I needed. THANKS A TONNE.

    @NeonLeonNoel@NeonLeonNoel8 жыл бұрын
    • +Léön Kroß he said it was about momentum. he was prbly trying to use his strength to do it. many ppl can do a pullup. many ppl can do a dip. but not many ppl can string it together to do a muscle up. it's not about strength. it's about knowing how to move your body.

      @garrettlucas1555@garrettlucas15558 жыл бұрын
    • +Léön Kroß when you do a pullup you go straight up, but to achieve the muscle-up you have to use your arms as a lever, in order to make your body go up making a curve, does it make sense? Instead of flexing your arms to go up, you use the momentum of the effort you make in the first pull, to make your body go above the bar and then do a dip.

    • Lol... Don't get me wrong, he's good and I'm a fan. But there's no way you can back that up yet. What champion has he fought? What kind of title from a respectable organization has he defended? He has fought and dismantled a couple skilled fighters, but no one who is world class. He is great, and I love the attitude and frame of mind that he's brought to fighting, but there's no way he's the best ever...he very well could be, but that remains to be seen yet. So hold your horses for a little bit lol

    • cingratta I totally agree with you. He is probably one of the most popular MMA fighters since nowadays memes are famous and his trash talking hypes the fight. But his track record isn't as impressive as Anderson Silva, Gsp or even Machida. He is a great striker. If he breaks Khabib's winning streak he is easily enters the same place as Gsp.

  • All the greatest fighters in history have shared something similar. The mental game. The war is won before the battle begins. Watching McGregor with his adversaries leading up to the fight i.e. the weigh-Ins, ETC., is like watching the wolf nearing the lamb. Even if I thought he was going to destroy me in the ring (octagon) I'd give it right back to him, stare him down, scream at him. Whatever it took to get back what he takes from his opponent. Their belief in themselves. Just an observation. I predict UFC Featherweight gold in his near future. Like say July ;)

    • Is a boxer not allowed to learn new moves??? He is a boxer first now an MMA fighter. So this disproves all the BS that boxers can't do it in a octagon.

      @agunaful@agunaful9 жыл бұрын
    • Dara McC oh yeah, of course. But you cannot say that it proves that a boxer can do it well in MMA, because it does not proves such a thing. In fact, it proves that a boxer has to change and adapt his style and to include new skills that boxing doesn't have for being good in MMA. Conor included kicks, jiu-jitsu and changed his posture and angles. He is not fighting like a boxer does.

      @nilc.8850@nilc.88509 жыл бұрын
    • Dara McC Yeah you can tell he's a boxer by the 360 tornado kicks he was throwing. The fact of the matter is Conor is as much of a boxer as he is a jiu jitsu and Tae Kwon Do practitioner. He's a well rounded MMA FIGHTER that is successful by implementing a new style of stand up and that deals with winning the battle of range and movement, not putting on sock em boppers and playing patty cake for twelve rounds.
