Patricia JANEČKOVÁ, soprano - "New Years Concert in Vienna Style“

Patricia has departed this world after a courageous battle against breast cancer. (18 June 1998 - 1 October 2023) She will be dearly missed by all her family, friends and fans throughout the world.
How sad
I just know she is no longer here with usDso sad ❤❤rip may she

May she rest in peace. I confess opera is not my world. And I haven't heard about her until 13th October when I accidentaly found a video which was made in memory of her. I was amazed by her great talent and I was shocked by her passing away.
Can't lie. I came because her outfit was so cute but stayed because she cleared my pores, raised my IQ, and made my neighbor's dog howl
Yes, it happened to all of us
And that’s how I got into opera
So that's why my dog is barking like it's the end of the world

Triste né? Infelizmente a vida é assim... Parabéns pela sua carreira de cantora! Deixe sua marca no mundo e inspire outras pessoas assim como ela fez. Beijos e sucesso! 🇧🇷
That's incredible. Though she is gone, I think the fact that she could inspire you to become and opera singer shows that she will live on through people like you.
My father was 45 when I was born. He was an engineer, and we were more prosperous than most. When he was 16 the stock market crashed. But he told me that during the Great Depression people could always find a quarter for the movies. But it wasn't simply the movies, it was for the arts. Those lacking talent wish to be worshipped for their money. But those with talent, like Patricia, are worshipped for their talent, and even more so, making life worth living.
How long did it take you, I want to learn to.

She was only 17 when she did this!
Wow!
I don't think age matters that much. I mean, it is impressive despite the age.
@ It only matters from a voice perspective. At 17 her voice still has a long way to go in terms of maturing, alongside ongoing vocal training which will be aware that her vocal chords are still evolving. To sing with such talent at that age is a rare thing and can be easily spoilt by the wrong training and/or care.

Yes. So sad. Rest in peace
I love this. I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve watched it. The Doll Song is considered to be one of the most difficult arias ever written for a soprano. And yet she makes it look so easy, and with such power. And only 17 years old when she performed it. Just amazing.
17? 🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️ that is outstanding.
@Trey Stephens It's alright, not everybody is talented the same. I'm sure you can do something that is also hard for other people ❤.
@Trey Stephens don't worry, she's doing the hard work while we sit back and enjoy!
Well, summarily rating something as being a difficult aria is a bit of a moot point unless you point out difficult to whom, as different singers will have different register limitations as well as different singing techniques. While in some modern music, especially guitar pieces, some are written with the express intent to showcase the talent of the composer and lead guitarist to be as difficult as possible to play, I cannot think of an instance where an operatic piece was intentionally written to be as difficult to sing as possible. There are certainly many cases where composers had specific contemporary singers in mind (see for example Opera Seria prima donnas and composers), but really the difficulty of a piece isn't really inherent to the piece but to the match to a singer. Also, to judge properly, how to judge when a piece has been sung properly or not? The Bel Canto par excellence of Amelita Galli-Gurci from a purely technical standpoint far exceeds that of Maria Callas, but lacks the drama and emotion that "Una Grande Vocaca" (as Tullio Serafin called MC) could unquestionably far more impressively convey -- unless you prefer the former, you see... So, really it isn't a question of what piece is the hardest for all but for one specific singer. MC didn't like to sing Mozart, complaining it strained her voice too much. Bellini, Rossini, was much more gentle and easy, while some more rigid singers with less flourish in Bel Canto might find them much harder than Ms. Kalogeropolou. She had no trouble with many very difficult arias. I couldn't tell which ones were hard for her any given year (and this changed, with the damage to her throat 1957-58 and later), so I wouldn't know for her, nor any given singer unless they told me. Still, to perfectly match instruments in a majority of passages, the Bell Song (Lakme) ought to be quite challenging IMHO.
She seems a mezzo a light lyrical mezzo or a spinto
why is it that no one seems to appreciate the doll-like introduction and performance? that was an amazing bonus !!
It is really talented even I don't know what exactly she sings
She’s simply in character :) the main point about Olympia is that she seems „lifeless” as it gets revealed (in the original text at the end but the opera piece of course gives it away quicker) that she is no woman but merely a wooden animatronic.
Because it was not amazing to everybody. I was overwhelmed by the amazing vocal performance.
I think that's how the peice is portrayed, It seems to be called the doll song
Because 1) her singing is way more impressing; 2) this entire doll thing was already kinda weird/creppy from the beginning.

There's something about having no mics and still filling the room that's so satisfying
most opera singers have hidden mics somewhere. With this performance, I'm not sure, but if she didn't have one and still sang so clean, it would be even more impressive!
aren't there microphones at 4:59
@MsSunhappy I think they're for the recording rather than to actually amplify the sound
Truly!
Lol the mics are right in front of her
idk why people disliked this... even if you don't like opera, you have to admit the talent and control that comes with opera. there is so much practice that goes into this.. like bro she's good

with Patricia and her sweet voice, no Opera is boring, 100% guaranteed!
You're right, but I have to say I hate classical music because of my father xd
True. Opera also has a plot, so it's not just random singing. It's telling a story in a fun way with music and sweet pure singing. The funny thing is people would watch musicals and Disney movies with singing (which literally learned this from opera) but they wouldn't watch opera.
Opera is a hard one. Most of it is incredible, some however are just noise for noises sake. Yes, she doesn't hit a top D, but 90% of the world cant. In 2016 I heard it for the first time and immediately fell in love with opera. Almost 8 years later I still come back because this is the best rendition of this song. Patricia captivates with her voice, every listen gives me goosebumps, my breath stops and I plunge headlong into a peaceful world with a magnificent girl’s voice. Unfortunately, life takes away the best, but I am sure that there, in heaven, she continues to delight with her angelic voice.
I just Heard about her passing. A huge loss. Thank you for every note Patricia
I love how her voice is so solid, melodic and agile! Such skill :) she must have practiced forever and a day. :)
Beauty in every respect!
She practices 40 hours a day.
She passed away today , only 25 years old 😢
She began singing at 4... What a natural gift!!
@@stevenmeyer9674 Every day for 40 hours each day, 56 months out of the year!
The amount of control in voice and head tone and staccato and vibrato is insane Also the dress is super pretty Amazing singer
Also she was 17 during this performance. This absolutely mind boggles me
❤😍
Patricia all had : beauty, exceptional talent, modesty, angelic voice and personality, kindness and a very unique stage presence which is very rare among opera singers. She was able to identify herself with her character as well as express and deliver emotions between role and audience. In every hundred years only one prodigy, talent like this little princess with all of those abilities is born. In spite of her young age she was one of the best sopranos of all times in her life already, and she would have become easily to the best of all times. With her departure a huge void has been left in the world of opera and there is nobody who can fill this void. No one can comes to any close to her talent and legacy till long long time. Rest in peace sweetheart 🖤🖤🖤you will never be forgotten 🖤🖤🖤
RIP. Heaven has gained another Angel,Gone to soon but your voice will go on forever, thank you for the music
Dang. I didn’t know vocal talent like this existed. This girl is heckin incredible. This song would be impossible for me to sing.
never say it's impossible.
She hits an A6 flat. That's impossible for most people.
@@aarongibson9027 is it that it’s physically impossible or people don’t often level up to that degree?
@@AK-jt7kh Most people, I included, need to use the flageolet register to hit such high notes.
@@aarongibson9027 That's amusing. In French a "flageolet" is also a type of bean, and although beans are notoriously noisy in their effect on the exit end of the human digestive system they would be unlikely to produce an A6, flat, natural or sharp. But it would change the impact of a "fart in a blocked elevator".
She has such clear diction :) As a native French speaker - it is sometimes so hard to hear what the singer is singing in French opera but she is so clear m. It is lovely
I agree! Lovely and so precise.
@욱일기는 전범기다 (Rising Sun flag is nazi flag) le rapport
I saw another comment of a French person in this comment section saying they couldn't understand a word of the lyrics, but now I'm confused. :o
As much as I like to partake in the tradition of poking fun at the French, I have to admit French music is beautiful :D
@@user-ub1hi2oh9u Noone understand it. French is a nonverbal form of communication, the sound is just for fun 🤪
I always came back to this performance of her. I am stunned to learn she passed away. Rest in peace, Patricia. Brightest flames do run the quickest, unfortunately.
Can’t believe that since I first commented on this wonderful performance, the world has lost such a shining star, what a cruel world this can be - rest in peace beautiful girl.
YES KZhead ALGORITHM SHOW THE PEOPLE THE BRILLIANT THING THAT IS MUSIC OF THIS TYPE. BRILLIANT.
ver true!
Show them, *the Good Stuff*
She is already a World-class virtuoso at such a young age. If I wasn't listen to her singing, I wouldn't have believed it.

And she’s so tiny!
Sadly, this angel, wonderful Patricia Janečková, has left this world on 1st October 2023 in a young age of 25 years.
I came back to view this many times over the years and it’s always made me smile. I hated opera, having been subjected to it as a child. Patricia changed my mind on that. Today, I’m just full of sadness and tears. Rest in peace, Queen of Opera.
That hitman in the back, his soul is melting in delight.
He’s there to wind her up when she falls asleep. Man, some people have no culture. 😄
@@duckwithlegs6953 he is joking hence calling the guy a hitman. Man, some people need to have some more humor. 😅
Tu Yiren I know that. I was also joking. Hence the sarcasm. 😅
Just to clarify. Did you just use the phrasal verb "wind up" in two meanings? That was almost a good comment but you screwed on the second half.
The fact that she did THAT without a microphone and still managed to look like an absolute cutiepie
assflowers666 microphone were right of front her

There are mics there
There are literally 3 mics in front of her.
Gabvo Torres she is a classical singer we by definition do not use mics, it’s called technique.
This is the song I'll remember her for. The loveliest doll.
Every time I watch this she makes me chuckle. Besides being a very talented singer she is quite a comedian. Patricia thank you for the joys you give me and all who follow you. Best wishes for your future.
She died yesterday 😢
