The Call - Alaska Moose and Wolf Hunting Adventure

2024 ж. 27 Қаң.

A diligent hunter goes to extraordinary lengths to deceive his quarry. He prepares mentally and physically. He practices until his weapon is an extension of himself. He studies the animals and the environment in which they live. Each species has it's own strength, weaknesses, and unique habits. The hunter's objective is to be undetectable and kill efficiently.
One of the most effective ways to attract game is through vocal communication. Ideally, a hunter delivers a call mimicking the sound of his quarry's mate, adversary, or a predator's preferred food source, and the animal is lured into striking distance. However, the oldest and wisest are often difficult to persuade. They've learned from past mistakes.
In today's modern society we too are tempted and called to in countless ways. Much of what is put before us is a trap, a decoy, or a poison. Like the game we hunt, identifying Truth vs and imposter is a matter of life and death.

  • Billy, I, m 92 and I have had my days in the wilds. I spend Lot of time watching hunting videos but yours are far and away the best from camera work to commentary and pack out, a skill you have honed from experience.I have seen all of your videos several times and sometimes I pick up on things that I missed. As soon as I got this new video I called my son, we are both avid fans.

  • As a longtime guide I frequently told my clients that my first trip to Alaska was the the most addictive experience I ever had. The need to experience more of all Alaska has to offer has never left me. In my mid seventies now it still pulls me to return. I hope everyone considering an Alaska adventure take that first step and create lifelong memories. I don’t personally know Billy but from his videos he is doing everything right.

  • Thank you, Billy....we just lost our dog this morning trajectly, and unexpectedly. I could not find anything to take my mind and emotions off of the situation so I sat down and turned on KZhead and there you were. The story, the video, the hunt all put me to ease and I want to thank you for that. God bless!

  • Mr. Molls I just want to comment and say I absolutely love your gun safety and awareness. Every single video after every single shot. As a younger hunter(33) with two boys I stress this so much to them. My oldest who’s 14 probably says “shut up already” in his head when I’m talking because I say it over and over again. And then again year after year. My 7yr old gets the same routine. And I won’t ever stop. People get excited rightfully so but I feel then sometimes Barrel direction, loaded guns aren’t the first thought when jumping, running and celebrating. Thanks for being a great role model and producing the best hunting content I watch with my boys. God Bless

I love Barry Barton, The Spaniard he was fantastic shooting, and you also had a couple who wanted even the ribs of their game, I felt bad for the younger guy who was disabled when he couldnt bag any Dall Sheep. My all time favorite video you did was the Tribute to your Grandfather the Spirit of the Mountain Man. I also appreciate you dont pimp products to us guys who probably cant afford them anyway (im speaking for myself). Thanks for keeping it real and enjoying your own craft. My best wishes and regards. • I was amazed when I first saw your subscriber base so low, as I had never thought about subscribing to any channels on KZhead during the first few years I started watching your videos. I always wanted to hunt in Alaska but never got any farther than being a fishing guide for Kings and a few fly fishing trips for Dollies and some Sockeyes. I did shoot a grizzly that had broken into my house and a couple of blocks that were breaking into my house and fish smoker, but I was never actively pursuing any wild game during my excursions. I used my watching you to define the hunting that I actually missed in Alaska and other places.

  • Hey Billy, great video. I really appreciate how you explain that killing an animal is NOT the most important thing about hunting. So many people misunderstand that! Like us seasoned vets know, it's about the experience, friendships made, how we were raised , the great appreciatiation for true calm and peace in our lives. I know when I go back home to Montana from Minnesota and I'm in the back country it takes me a little while to get reconnected. When I do , it's like Im part of the environment. I see all Gods amazing creations. I become in tune with all things. My senses are clearer and I am calmer. Keep explaining those connections to the wild places and keep including those awesome connections to our God . I dont know a better way to see and talk to our creator than spending quiet time in the wild places. Thanks.

  • Fantastic and emotional video. A Brother adventure. This last year after a heart procedure, colon surgery and some other items , I was sitting in base camp in the Wrangles while my son and grandson were hunting Dall sheep. A lot of soul searching. Now it is a foot reconstruction which will side line me until sometime this fall. Next year, 2025, and I will be 70. I am going to be in the Mountains. As stated towards the end of this interview, There is a better place, just not in a hurry right now to get there🙏❤️. Two things to remember, A body only gets so many Septembers and You will probably never know the last time you walk out of the woods when you do it. Heavenly Father’s blessings to all and thank you Billy.

  • That wolf hunt was extraordinary the way they come running in. The rant that Kurt had was so funny, almost spit my coffee lol. Trent was so calm and relaxed, taking everything in stride . That would be me enjoying the time in the outdoors, is my peace of mind. Then the great moose was icing on the trip for Kurt. Love your hunts Billy, its like reading a great novel , but you get to see it happening.

  • I just wanted to say thank you for the way you are able to tell the stories and articulate what makes hunting special, and why we do it. I try my best to explain to people that it isn't about the kill. That's just a bonus. You do a great job detailing the way it awakens our spirit and has a deeper impact on us in many ways. Really enjoy your show! I've done a dall sheep hunt and I know the work involved. A calling indeed, because doing that for over 20 years in incredible. Thanks!
