  • I've been doing online university since the beginning of the pandemic. One of my professors wanted to have a face to face meeting with me and I was shocked when, just before leaving for the meeting, I realized that I shouldn't wear sweatpants with a blouse when I'm meeting the professor in real life.

    • For me, what shocked me the most was knowing people’s real height. After so many hours of staring at each other’s faces, you start to think they’re around the same height as you, only realise that they’re actually way shorter/taller than what you thought

    • @@mollycule2792 That's probably the future of most office jobs. Having an office is too much overhead for a company in a day and age when most stuff can just be done remotely. Head offices may still be needed for the odd thing that can't be done from home, but that's about it. That's going to be a nightmare for the companies that rent out office space, but great for everyone else.

  • Im so glad my company saw the benefits of WFH and stopped the lease on our office. Now we get to WFH full time. Its great. The best thing is having time to put your washing into the machine and hang it out later 😂

    • Get to work by 7am. Leave by 7pm...6 if I'm lucky. Just Mondays and Tuesdays for now. Rest of week is usually 7am-4³⁰pm.

    • I’ve had those conversations too. Eye contact is one I have to work on. It’s like I forgot how to have eye contact in real life. It’s either too much or too little. Then I feel self conscious and start thinking about it as I’m trying to hold a conversation.

  • I was quite surprised on the first day back that my boss sent me home for wearing shorts. Then on the 2nd day, I managed to wear pants, but he said track pants don't cut it either. Today, I'm trying the trendy torn n holey jeans and tshirt with profanity on it. Decided to see if I could stretch out this 18 month holiday another week.

    • I believe the marketing strategy was actually TOO aggressive and that corporate need to bring forward an entire restructuring of the marketing and PR department. The guys from HR also agree with me on this as the company moves into the third fiscal quarter of this financial year.

  • For real, I recently had a meeting where camera on was mandatory, and it took a tremendous effort to maintain a decent seating posture and neutral face for 30 minutes. I dread to imagine I’d have to do this for 8 hours. The re-adaptation will be a real struggle for all

    • @@8catweazle idk whom you're talking to man, surely not me here. I'm a working adult, not affected by internet escapism, who works your normal 9-5 for years now. My office switched to work from home a year ago. Over a year my seating posture kinda deteriorated because when you work at home no one is stopping you from sitting like a goddamn shrimp. So now my back literally hurts when I try to sit in my office chair normally for a long time. That's all my comment is about. The teenage phone addiction is a completely different thing which you should be addressing in another places, not under this comment of mine

  • It reminds me one of the first conference call. While I was talking to my coworkers, my German Shepherd started biting my hand for fun. Since I couldn't stop her, she kept squeezing my hand harder and harder. At one point, as I couldn't stand the pain anymore, remaining very professional and smiling I said: "excuse me but my dog is crushing my hand" and I shouted to her to stop it immediately. Luckily she never did it again 😄

    • Day at school is one thing. The little one of my manager has Dinosaur PJ's and knows all their names. And he was so happy that I also knew some of them 😂😂😂 And I know all family pictures of his grandparents now and the picture he painted for his mom....and I know how his Covid test went... including all details when he got sick because the stick in his nose and they had to start over with the test.... 🤢 I will truly miss those parts of virtual meetings. Never thought I would say it, but I look forward going back to the office 🤣🤣

  • Had a staff meeting the other day. Thankfully still on zoom so I joined wearing pjs, uncombed hair, a snack of sushi and coffee. Also because I have a tablet, they got a view of the roof because it’s too hard to hold for an hour and a half.

My only private space is my bedroom and I don’t have a desk so sadly if they want my attendance, they gotta put up with the fact that I have no effective way to hold my tablet for hours. Not everyone is setup for such. And I can’t work from home because I teach swimming. Plus I’m not getting paid for said meeting either. It’s impossible to hold a position for over an hour. I have tried and gave up as a bad job. The stand on the cover is worse than useless and it never works. 🤷‍♀️ I do the best I can with what I’ve got.

  • Greetings from me! I am a Member of The Country Women's Association of Victoria Incorporated (Eureka Rebelles Branch, Ballarat District Group). We are experiencing our SIXTH Statewide lockdown. 22 hours before our 2021 State Conference (to be held in Ballarat), we had to go into Lockdown 4. It was only yesterday, our Branch was to have a Branch Meeting via Facebook 'Rooms', but as our Secretary created the Event and I am the Vice President and Membership/Publicity Officer who has to 'chair' the Meetings due to the passing of our President in February, I have access to our page because I am on NOT on FB, I couldn't join the 'Room'... because the Secretary [accidentally] slept in! 😂 I had to let those Members who were coming, "Nope! Not today. To be deferred. Will let you know..." Our Association is much like The Countrywomen's Association of Ireland (ICA) who we are 'Sisters' with on FB. Stay safe, stay sane and Keep Calm and Carry On with your sketches! 💚💛😷
