A little thing you should do is take the bottom case off, add masking tape around the screw holes (to isolate the top housing vibrations), poke holes on the tape for the screws and then close it back up. If done correctly, the tape won't be visible from the outside and it will ping way less when typing.
Such a well made video and very informative! Thanks dude. I’ve been looking for a somewhat customizable 75% and this looks like the winner
Loving my Q1. Just finished modding it yesterday and it feels/sounds amazing. As others have mentioned putting some masking tape on the case near the screw holes really helps get rid of the ping the case has by default. I also replaced the thicker foam in the bottom of the case with some ConTact brand Zip-N-Fit Liner. Lubing the stabilizers with some dielectric grease is a must as well (the lube job it came with wasn't great). Other than that I tape modded the back of the pcb and installed some lubed/filmed gateron ink black v2 switches. For my first custom keyboard I am extremely happy with the result. It is night and day compared to your typical mainstream keyboards. I highly suggest getting the board preassembled for the extra $20. Getting a full set of keycaps and switches for $20 is a pretty good deal.
Yes I agree I got the switches and keycaps for the extra 20 bucks then gave them to a friend for his first custom board.

Cool man! Thanks for sharing
Great video, I like the fact you do long term reviews! That stone gray of the _Hacker_ keycaps looks pretty dope, I love it.
Thanks for this! I'm actually using the K2 V2, which is an improvement on the one you used, by having a more angled body, so it's more comfortable to use, and I love it. Relatively lightweight too, so I usually carry it around with me. Been very tempted by the Q1, and now I can see it would be more of a permanent fixture!
How is the keyboard holding up? Am thinking about ordering 75% k2 hot swappable. I had till now HyperX Alloy FPS RGB. Thanks in advance.
Hey there! Have you heard of the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact device that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, which can be super handy for keeping your desktop spotless. It also has multiple tubes and high-quality filters for long-lasting performance. Definitely worth checking out for efficient cleaning!
Just got my Q1 this week with all my other products and mods. Can't wait to built it tomorrow!
Such a soothing video. This channel is a gem. Terrific production quality.
very good review. glad you did this because I was gonna pick it up!
I'm loving my Q1. I modded it a lot; force break to eliminate pinging, removed the thicker foam leaving the thin one for flex, tape mod under PCB, swapped the stabilisers to Durock v2, changed the switches to Aqua King 67g and added KBDfans switch pads. Very satisfying.
You should add pe foam
Keychron realized this too and fixed the pinging on Q2, while also offering knob option.
Hey there, I've been using the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for a while now, and I'm impressed! It's perfect for keeping my desk spotless and even cleaning my car's tight spaces. With its dual-functionality, powerful blowing, and efficient storage, it's truly a game-changer. Highly recommend it!
It's a year later and the Q1 Pro and Q1 V2 have since been released. These boards have greatly improved on the older design. If you we're to spend some extra money and time on modding the Q1 Pro, for example, it is possible for it to achieve the performance, feel and sound comparable to the most premium 75% boards like the Mammoth75. The other modern 75% keyboards that come close to the Q1 in quality include the Monsgeek M1, Sense75, QK75 and the Varmilo Minilo 75%. The Q1 is ,in my opinion, the best modded 75% keyboard available for a mid range price (approx. $300 for the entire build). The best stock experience in this price point would come from the Minilo 75% ($150). The best budget option would probably be a tie between the M1 and QK75 because of the price to quality ratio. The Sense75 keyboard has had the worst reputation because of the price, but since the price has been dropping, it is also a valid competitor for a good 75% board. The best board that beginners should buy, if they would like a 75% board and don't mind giving up the gasket mounting style, is the Keychron V1, which can be currently bought for $70 for the fully built version. Also, do not buy the GMMK Pro! Since its release, so many great boards have come out, that do better in almost every way.
Got my Q1 less then a week ago. Since the ISO version is barebone only I had to get switches. Got myself a bag of 62g aqua kings that are really smooth linears and prelubed from factory, changed the spacebar spring for a 78g one and dampened the case with alubutyl (car stereo stuff) instead of the foam. Kills the ping dead. Using it with keychrons retro grey PBT keycaps. Have a thinner alubutyl sheet on order since the 2mm one takes away all flex but I already love the board!
Got my Q1 pre-built with phantom browns. Love the feel and flex of it, but it does sound a tiny bit pingy for me, so I did some tape modding and now it sounds wonderful! What I like the most is the weight of it, it's so stable and with my desk mat I can type and game comfortably without having to worry about my keyboard shifting places (since I'm pretty intense when gaming). Can't wait for the rotary knob upgrade
Hey there! The HOTO Compressed Air Capsule could be a great addition to your desktop setup. Its powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities are perfect for keeping your keyboard clean and your gaming sessions uninterrupted. Plus, its compact size and multiple tubes make it versatile for use in other areas too. Check it out!
Hey there, {{3}}! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact yet powerful tool that combines vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your desk and other spaces spotless. The keyboard cleaning feature with its 22m/s wind speed is particularly useful. Plus, the versatile accessories and long-lasting battery make it a great companion for road trips and outdoor activities. Happy cleaning!
I've had my Q1 for about a month now! Finally go around to uploading the video for it. I absolutely LOVE it! I used some really nice tactile switches, and did Keybored's force-break mod. I'm thinking about going back and tape modding it, though.
Apparently Keychron use the feedbacks to release Q2. I'm waiting for stocks to localize.
@@unholydonuts I’ve heard lots of good things about the Q2 so far! I think I might skip it for now, though. 😓 I already have two other 65% boards coming in the next few months
@@thesurgeonkeebs9857 I sincerely wish you luck restraining yourself from this. My mind has already gave in to Keychron.
Typing this on my beloved Q1, it's an absolut pleasure! I highly recommend doing at least the Force Break and Tape Mods to improve the sound. And soldering on a rotary knob is actually pretty easy and it really completes the board. Can highly recommend some good tactile switches on this board! (although it might get expensive)
Any recommandation for switches?
Yes, tactile switches are the best on this board. I use the panda switches from Glourious and I love them. After moding the board to eliminate ping and maximize the flex it's the perfect keyboard.
Got my barebones a few days ago, i was a pleasantly surprised by the quality and typing experience for the money. I put lubed and filmed OA switches in mine and also did some tape mods.
while clearly still new to the hobby, this was an excellent video and im looking forward to maybe more keeb videos
As my first custom board coming from a Ducky Shine 3, I absolutely love the Q1, I definitely recommend doing atleast a Force Break mod as that will alleviate a lot of the ping if done correctly. I personally preferred Durcok v2 stabilisers over stock but stock is definetly usable. All in all, a great entry level custom board and I definitely recommend for anyone wanting to get into the hobby.
For anyone coming into this later, the V2 revision has the force break mod already done for you out of the box in addition to other small fixes like better comptatbility for third party keycaps due to better and crisper cutouts.

Welcome to the custom mechanical keyboard hobby Eber! The Keychron Q1 and GMMK Pro are great options to dabble in this space and get into customization, hope to see more from y'all!
I found the GMMK Pro to have a pretty ineffective gasket mount and a muted sound overall. The KBD67 Lite R3 is in stock now, and while you do have to build it, it has a great deep sound and is much cheaper!
@@KDZen that’s what I am saying lol. Q1 is definitely better almost in every aspect ,but people still fanboy’ing for that awful glorious board, they fucked up gasket mount and overall board just don’t sound good .
@@KDZen and that kbd67 lite r3 is very nice
Agreed, I hate to shit on glorious but the gmmk pro burned me so hard 😂 q1 is pretty nice but only after heavy modding, wildcat has a great video of what to do
@@KDZen yep, who tf uses keyboard stock. These people are menace to society. (I mean budget boards or mid tier boards, cuz some expensive boards tend to sound good without any mods)
I have the K2 V2 hot-swap w/ white backlight only and I love it!
Since my stupid MSI laptop (never buying from msi again) keyboard started to malfunction ( apparently a very normal issue for MSI laptops) I started to look for a nice looking keyboard. For me it was all about a functional portable keyboard for work and casual gaming which would replace the laptopkeyboard as well as being able to connect to my desktop pc. Keychron k3 was my solution and iam absolutely loving it. Takes a bit of time to get used to but thats normal. Thanks for the video!
Would love for you guys to do a full build from scratch, break down your experiences with choosing and lubing switches, tuning stabs, etc.
I'm using it with bobagum silent switches with 68g actuation force, I came from a Corsair with reds. It's completely silent and looks awesome with hyper x pudding keycaps cuz of the south facing RGB. It's a crazy difference in user experience. I'm not rich or anything but keyboard monitor and mouse are the things you interact with your computer over .
LOL yeah as opposed to getting a better PC which a actually runs your peripherals HAHAHAHA sure
6:30 if you're swapping the other end of the cable, try to make sure it's from the same maker. i recall reading elsewhere that it might short your board.
Oooh, I sure hope the Q2 comes out by holiday sale season. That 65% size is just right.
Awesome production quality and great detailed review! However, I would still suggest looking into mods to improve the sound, since is does sound really pingy. Keybored did a great video about modding the Q1.
They should make a TKL version. 75% sucks(hard to find keycaps).
@@basshead. A full range is coming out: Q1: Exploded 75% (R2, 23th December) Q2: Exploded 65% (12th January) Q3: Tkl (in Development) Q4: 60% (in Development) Q5: 96% (in Planning)
I think we need to stop telling non mech keys channels to mod their boards and. Just let them review. 99% of the people buying this board is not gonna mod it.
@@geromemanicia3809 in fact, 99% will be modding it since it is an enthusiast keyboard. Do you expect common people to buy keyboards that cost literally over $150 ? If yes, you better know that over 80% of people buy keyboards under $90 !
@@geromemanicia3809 channels like this are the perfect ones to be talking about mods. Ink Blacks or even Gat Yellows can be had for stupid cheap and take about as much effort to install as keycaps with the hotswap on this board. Less dense foam also costs pennies and makes this board sound like $500 enthusiast builds for not even half the price. Nice keyboards these days cost the same as any generic gamer keyboard and feel infinitely better to type on with the trade off being that you need to put in 15 extra minutes of effort (but hey if you're a hardcore pc gamer bro that's subbed to this channel and who built their own pc, then you're already 90% of the way there).
I just got the K10 and Gaetron Blues, and I was actually going to send it back due to being ANSI and I am in the UK so I am an exclusive ISO-UK user. But I just decided to get used to it (my other board is a BlackWidow Pro v3) and it's a pretty nice board. I was debating between this and the GMMK Pro, but I NEED my numpad due to the work I do.
Good god that ping! Id cry every time I used it with the shame of it likely damaging my soul indefinitely. A sheet of dynamat in the base to replace the foam, tape on the back of the PCB, balance the stab wires and put some small bits of paper or rubber tape by each of the screw hole locations between the two halves of the case. It'll work wonders! Also, get rid of those switches, get the thic thock Konpeitou switches (lubed and filmed) or something similar. Itll be the best experience you are likely to get out of the Q1. Some proper double shot PBT 8008 or similar would also look rather on point!
I just bought the Glorious PC Gaming PBT Dye sub keycaps and the legends look pretty good but of course not as sharp as laser etched keycaps or double shot shine through keycaps. Those feel good to type on and come in a decent color selection if you're into gradients along with plain black and white.
Happy to see you happy :)
Looking forward to the Q2 that's coming
It was cool to see Elige using a blue Keychron Q1 at the recent Blast CSGO tournament. Nice to see the custom world and the gaming world intermixing.
The Keychron V2 is a big improvement over v1. Most of us just want a good mechanical keyboard out of the box without modding or messing about with customisation. Nobody has time for that, and if you do you should probably take a look at your life priorities. A keyboard is a tool for the destination, not the destination itself
For anyone worried about the thicc foam and no travel; buy a 1mm sheet of silicone and that will solve your problem. I saw this in a post/video, can't remember. I just built my Q1 today with this and it has absolutely no ping and it sounds incredible! I have also added the "force-break" mod? Small pieces of foam, fromt he KBDFans stabiliser foam, next to each screw point on the bottom of the case to further reduce ping. Extremely happy with this build and it is a massive upgrade over my ID80V2.
I like my GMMK compact with gat reds, I also have thick washers which make a huge difference as they drastically shorten overtravel and dampen the impact when playing games like Osu it's game changing (I actually had to take time to adapt to the travel).
Hey {{3}}! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I love the GMMK compact too, it's a solid keyboard choice. By the way, have you considered checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for maintaining a clean desk? It's a great tool with powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your keyboard spotless. Just thought I'd mention it! 😄🚀
{{3}} That's a great recommendation! The HOTO Compressed Air Capsule seems like a versatile tool for keeping your desk and living spaces clean. The powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, along with the various accessories, make it a valuable addition to any tech enthusiast's setup. Thanks for sharing!
Gonna be keeping my eyes on this board for a future upgrade 👀
I really liked the Q1 but had to sell it as the angle was a bit low for me, definitely a great entry board to the hobby
You need to do a forcebreak mod on that Q1. I would also recommend you checking out some other switches in there, if you don't want to lube them yourself, like the Everglide Aqua King or Gazzew Boba U4T. You could go for TTC Gold Pink if you want light actuation force. If you are worried about resonance, you can try the tape mod too.
Not anymore, for the v2 they added rubber pads between the case
I just bought Keychron K8. And now You shows us Q1... :P
I'm currently on the Razer huntsman mini, and after this video i'm really considering building a custom Q1
Juts got Boba u4T with 57g springs in my Q1, on SA keycaps, feels so good
Would love to see you try the new Ducky One 3, especially since you said you like this one! I feel the Ducky One 3 might be an upgrade for something that doesn't require mods!
The prototypes of the Q1 with a rotary knob are out in the wild! It's going to be an upgrade kit (I think) for current Q1 users! I got impatient and soldered one on myself :P
The Hardware Canucks badge is such a slick touch. Also, welcome to the custom keyboard rabbit hole 😆
I am using a Q1 since January, There are 3 things that are bothering me: 1. The cut of the top frame is very tight, and I needed to use nail files to grind my keycaps to fit in (Idobao MA Blue cat). You will have problems with 3rd party keycaps, if their bottom edges are not rounded. 2. There is no support available if I want to add a customized RGB mode. And it's apparently difficult to add new, since the memory in the board is almost full. 3. If you want to get rid of the metallic hollow sound, isolation works well, but you give up on the gasket mount and there will be no flex anymore. Also keep in mind, this is my first custom mechanical keyboard and I am definitely not an expert. For the price, still recommended.
Thanks for this dope review. Question...Where can I find that black, metal platform with the WD Black on top?
As someone into custom keyboards, I’m excited to see another person joining. Sadly the q1 is INCREDIBLY hollow sounding and lacks in many areas, but it’s a lot better than what my first board was.
After modding?
@@itchyo1804 even being heavily modded it ends up sounding like a stock gmmk pro, which in itself was a huge letdown for being hollow sounding, on top of that, the ping will not go away no matter what you do.
did you do the force break mod?
@@libraofdeath you can easily get rid of ping. My Q1 has no ping at all and I think it sounds really great
@@duck848 if you’re referring to the tape mode applied to the areas near the screw holes, yes I have done it, still a horrid sounding board
The holee mod, tape mod and poly fill mod have brought my q1 to the next level.
Yes. Was looking for affordable 75% Keyboard. I miss arrow keys after using Ducky Mini.
Q1 Max, the newest iteration of this keyboard, was out of my budget, so I went with next best (compared it to Rainy75 and TH80 Pro v2) - V1 Max as a replacement for my trusty and modded K2 v2. Along with it got myself a set of Cherry PBT Double-Shot Dark Blue/Black combo keykaps, using Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow switches. Now in process of modding it fully and am sure that it will come out even better to my K2 v2 (also on G Pro 3.0 Yellow), which is thocky and much more silent compared to the Q1 Max. So if you are looking for $100 keyboard, start with the above one.
I am finally getting mine in this week
I think you didnt experiment with the stuff which is the beauty of Keyboard hobby i.e keycaps and switches so hope to see you experiment with those 😘
Theres this redragon keyboard called the k618 Horus. It’s similar to the Logitech G915, and I’m planning to replace my Corsair k75 cause I need a wireless keyboard for sim racing. I have no idea though how long this product is gonna last cause there’s no long term review for it yet. I was wondering if you’ve heard of them before?
5:54 "There are some INKonsistencies..." nice
next step polyfoam and tape mods are just about 20$ and it can get better, check out the alexotos build, plus i strongly suggest jwk switches alpacas or some durock pom, you can even spring swap if you want 45g, i would also suggest a gmk keycap set but it takes years to get one due to the current situation.
Can we just appreciate, what kind of an elegant personality this guy is?
The ping can be eliminated by adding silicone/masking tape around the chassis screw holes. About the flex tho… it’s a gasket mount keyboard. It is supposed to flex a bit. The best thing about Q1 is how adjustable the flex is by modding it.
I believe that the general people prefer their keyboard to be stiff and solid. It was the same for me until I tried a gasket mount keyboard. Now I need the soft tying feel and the flex, otherwise it just feels wrong.
One part of the custom keyboard life that you have yet to experience is the 6-12 month wait time from a group buy. After price, that is possibly the worst part of this addiction.
I've been a long time Keychron fan and I will agree the Q1 is the best mechanical keyboard they've produced. The keyboard is isn't perfect but at its price point and with a couple of cheap modifications you can definitely close the gap on its flaws. I've performed the popular Tempest tape mod by adding 3 layers of painters tape on the keyboard's PCB. I added some smaller pieces of tape placing them near the screw points of the upper and lower parts of the casing. I also replaced the PE foam that came with the keyboard with 1mm thick sheet of silicone. These mods will help reduce the hollow resonance of the keyboard. All these mods costs less than $20 and made my Q1 perfect IMHO. The keyboard feels and sounds awesome. I think the mechanical keyboard hobby is awesome but I don't think it should cost in upwards of $300, $400, or $500 just for a darn keyboard. Thank goodness for companies like Keychron who give folks the chance to affordably enjoy the hobby.
Well, Keychron did some modding themselves and released Q2.
@@unholydonuts They definitely did and it appears the Q2 shows Keychron was listening.
Hope you have been able to resolve the heating issues in your studio!
Time to mod this thing out! (There's still a lot of pinging tho, tape mod time)
When he did the sound test I thought the exact same thing lol
Whatever you do, make sure to check out Keybored's YT vid on modding the Q1. That video really show case what you can really do to elevate your Q1.
Just got the Q1 Knob version, supposed to have improved ping dampening. Still needs some love though.
If you are able, I would love to hear your opinion on the System 76 launch keyboard
Can you please also do a review of the IQUNIX F96? I've heard a lot of good stories about it, but I'd love to see an in-depth review before I purchase one!
Thanks for the recommendation.
I went with the ducky one 3 65% I can't wait for it to come in.
Not so much a suggestion for new boards but you should definitely try some enthusiast’s switches, like maybe NK Creams or Tangerine. Those will feel even better that Gat Reds and I’m not even a fan of linears!
I was concerned about the cost at first, especially compared to something like a GMMK Pro, before realizing the quality of the case looks pretty high and you do get some nice extras. Still sounds like it needs some work after factory though. Those keys have a definite ping.
Well, that's what Keychron Q2 is remedying.
I like compact keyboards, but I have to have the 6 rows like this one. Having to use the Fn key to get to F1-F12 is not friendly for gaming. I'm currently using an 84% Royal Kludge. Hot swappable "blue" switches, it's wireless both dongle or bluetooth, rechargable, ARGB. Etc. Not as nicely made, but I'm satisfied with it.
best way to remove the pinging is by adding some electrical or silicone tape between the 2 parts of the case and then just screw it back together
As someone who fell down the rabbit-hole HARD, I think you did a great job reviewing the Q1. I don't expect further videos on custom keyboards from Hardware Canucks, as it's not what you guys focus on. I love your vids on cases, and off-the-shelf hardware. Stick to that. All those who find the Q1 pingy, just haven't modded it enough. Replace the case foam with some PE foam, tape mod, switch the plate from Alu to PC, and the ping is gone.
Are you rocking a self built unibody 40% split too? Lmao, watching the "big brand youtubers" talk about "custom" keyboards is both cringe and interesting at the same time.
Got this as an upgrade from a wonky (but still usable-ish)razer blackwidow v2... will say it took a moment to get used to but the desk space is super nice. I will admit, however, that the numberpad is missed when needed to write up stuff for work. have mine stock but totally want to upgrade the switches
get a wireless standalone numpad!
@@beno94 surface numpad is good option
@@beno94 This is what I did. I bought the Keychron K6 for work/gaming and have a GK21s as an external wireless numpad. It's really great, only downside is the battery life for me only lasts about 2 days of work. I do data entry for a living though so that might be the worst-case scenario
That's what I hate about the currentstate of mechanical keyboards: FN for media keys rather than a damn volume knob and stand alone control keys because when changing keycaps the secondary legends for media controls disappear and you have to memorize which button is which.
11:22 oh yes, give me that metallic reverb sound test
As someone who is a bit more aware about the current "meta" in the custom keyboard realm.... it is amusing to see that "no flex" is something that would be considered more premium to people who don't spend way too much time looking at keyboards xD
Q1 + Tap MOD = Q1 Pro I bought one in last month, replace switches plus Tap MOD, and now it's one of my favorite keyboards too.
That sound test was rough, man. Part of the hobby is modifying to make the keyboard perform better. Definitely go for mods.
What would you recommend Apex Pro TKL 2013 or Razer Huntsman V2?
The ping is still really bad. If that is a final release unit then keychron’s extra foam didn’t do much. Needs something thicker or denser.
@@KevinOQuinn try the force break mod, it’s just adding tape between the bottom and top chassis to isolate the pieces from each other. It’s from keyboreds video and completely removes all ping
Keybored has a great video on what you can do to get rid of the ping completely. Alexotos also did a great job with his videos.
@@KevinOQuinn yes, just watch keybored vid. I already mentioned it. I have a sound test of mine Aswell and it doesn’t ping. I reckon you could get away with only polyfill
I’d miss the fourth navigation key… I use those keys a lot to navigate between tabs and slides of decks… I got the K2 Pro last week… I’ll se how it goes :)
While I like and own 2-3 keychron keyboards, I hate the font they use the the keys. it's very fine and small and makes it really difficult to see unless you have eagle vision and in a well lit area.
So cool!!
Looks like a nice board but I wish they'd ship it without the coiled USB cable and reduce the price instead. I don't need a stupid bulky cable sitting on my desk. And in practise not more than a handful of people will ever switch keyboards so often that they'd need a custom connector like that. It's just a useless gimmick that adds unnecessary cost. This with a volume knob sounds awesome. And they even have the ISO layout available. Thank you! Another small thing that would be super helpful would be anchoring points for the wrist rest. If you move your keyboard around a lot it's just really annoying to constantly move the wrist rest and keyboard seperately.
One of us. One of us. :D Welcome to the beautiful hobby of mechanical keyboards.
Keycaps: 40 bucks, a bit overpriced GMK: hold my beer
i guess one got in the rabbit hole. Now we need demitri on board :P
A very cheap mod which further reduces the pinging from the case, is adding a small square of masking tape beside the screw holes in the bottom part of the case. I actually use two layers of tape, I also changed the plate to brass to give it a deeper sound overall.
I have also done some more enthusiast mods, like holee modding the stabilizers and using lubed switches (alpaca) which really help getting a better typing experience.
@@bibob1313 Isn't a brass plate usually higher in pitch than most other choice of plate?
@@KevinOQuinn Yeah, got a poly plate on my Pro as well, a definitive difference. It also helps with light diffusion so I can actually see when the Caps Lock's on
Compared to the aluminum plate it is a bit deeper, I think it is the density difference.
IMPORTANT KEYCAP NOTE: The layout of the Q1 is not quite standard ("1U" wide keys to the right of the spacebar, smaller Shift key on the right side, etc). If you're a newcomer to mechanical keyboards you may find that a lot of the keycaps you can buy do *not* support this layout. I still love my Q1, but wish I'd known that before buying my first few keycap sets. 😛 Also note that many shine-through keycaps have the lettering placed high on the key in anticipation of a north-facing LED layout. The Q1 has south-facing LEDs which are great to provide a subtle under-glow around the key bases, but will not provide strong illumination through the letters on many shine-through keys.
Can you review the WASD Code V3 keyboard. I can’t find any decent review
What about the vissles v84, I'm quite a noob but that one seems really attractive to me
Make sure to watch Badseedtech's video on it Eber, there's still quite a bit of case ping in your sound test and his mods would help you eliminate that.
OOF the amount of ping in that sound test though
easy to fix thankfully with just some film (or even just tape) to isolate the top and bottom of the case
@@MarcBehar tape doesn’t do anything on its own. The q1 is hollow inside. You need something dense to fill it or it won’t sound much different.
@@KLee0723 you have no idea what you're talking about
the sound test is ping-y af bro, but great review anw since u r new here =))))
the grey and blue body are in stock as in the fully assembled option
Honestly that sounds great for a factory board. And doubly so for the price
you need to mod it if you want to use it smoothly, the echo of each typing is really loud :)
don't move the delete key to a non traditional layout, put it in the same spot it always is or copy the layout of the ducky one 2 sf
bloody dying to buy one of these and get rid of my old K65 RGB
You should quit now while you can. Like you said, it's addicting and it'll get expensive real quick 😆😵😅 Personally though, I'm a tactile user and I like the Zealios V2 switches. Since you like linear, I'd suggest the Tangerine C3 linear switches. I've heard good things about them.
Also aquakings are pretty dope and smooth. Using those on my gmmk pro
last I heard the rotary knob needs a different PCB, so it's not something you can just install in the board as a plug-in upgrade!
Maybe not this specific brand but I can see the value in getting a mechanical keyboard with replaceable switches. I've had this current mechanical keyboard for 5+ years now. Once one of the keys (probably wasd) fail I'll have to throw the whole thing out rather than just replacing that single key. That is where the value ends up showing. Even if it takes years to show that value.
Each to their own I guess but I also see the value in being able customize the keyboard with switches to your liking. For me, that adds a lot of value as I do want to try out different switches.
