"They presented the song to me, and to be honest, it was hard to listen to considering how tough it was to to get through some of those chapters." That Justin Bieber recounting what it was like to hear the first sketches of "lonely," which was co-written by benny blanco and Finneas. Accounting for some of the personal road bumps a performer in the spotlight must traverse to get to the top of the entertainment biz, the track and its video cut deep into Bieber's emotions and personal narrative.   • I just love this kid so much for this song. He's portraying such an important message to his fans, that it's okay - and not only okay but necessary, to be vulnerable and express your feelings. Justin is a true hero and a survivor. So thankful that he's healthy after all that madness he must have gone through since at such a young age.

  • This song overcomes me with its power. The truth behind each lyric speaks true to Justin as well as so many in different situations. No one will ever experience childhood as Justin did, but there are so many other aspects of relatability to his lyrics in the song such as the power of being lonely in a world that seems so full. I remember seeing Justin in concert when I was a little kid and he wore this outfit, but the metaphorical outfit he wears now of speaking his truth is so encouraging and heartwarming as if makes other people feel not as alone.   • this is the deepest song that i ever knew... like its sooo personal. but I'm so proud that he could bring this to us. he shares a little piece of his life with us. justin you're the strongest person that I knew. getting everything in life in a really young age that's not easy. and got all the fame that's not easy like there is something more behind that more ups and downs feeling.   • After Finneas wrote about my friend Nick, his wife Amanda and their son Elvis, with a beautiful son I still can't get through without crying. This one is also beautiful. Living in Ontario and a stones throw from where Justin started from as well as where he has one of his newer homes, I have watched him grow up. A friend knew him before he became big and had the opportunity to meet him and see him preform in a small studio while trying to get discovered. He had a copy of that private performance that I saw back in 2004. 💕
