Having been a high school teacher in Southern Ontario for 35 years, I can’t say enough about being involved in these sorts of performances for the students. They really appreciate the fact that we are willing to go out and perform in, for them, off the wall sorts of ways. We become more human and approachable. Kudos to these teachers!
Before the teacher ing industry became flooded with leftists. Teachers from the past were exceptional individuals!!

I did performances like this with teachers & staff for Homecoming at Norte Vista HS in Riverside. We had a blast at rehearsals and the performance! The kids loved it & if you messed up, so what? The kids loved it even more!!!
I watched this grinning from ear to year. Then I had tears streaming down my cheeks. Not out of happiness, but out of longing to create a society where we can have our students together without fear of being emotionally hurt, getting sick, or being shot. This is what going to school should be like. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Not only did the teachers do this because they love their students, they had to have rehearse for hours of THEIR OWN TIME. Way to go teachers and way to go students for appreciating them.

I can't say enough of how impressed I was in seeing these teachers preform for these students! How lucky they are to have such good teachers willing to do this.
I went to 4 different high schools in 4 different cities, 2 different states in the late '60s/early 70's. Whitmer was, by far, my best experience and provided me the tools and guidance to develop confidence, self-esteem, and a drive to push myself to be better. I am so happy to see this video, and to know that the teachers and administrators in that institution are still dedicated to students.

Wish my late wife, a teacher all her life, could have seen this. She would have done anything to see such. a display of teacher fun and joy. She advocated for that all her teaching career!!!

All of that PLUS the principal and assigned police officer! And they all knew the drill! God bless them they really worked on that and those kids were thrilled. Way to go Whitmer High School!
That police officer let her radio mic bounce all over, gues she does not know how to secure expensive equipment, other than that it was a great

@@muffdiver7670 And yours is only half full. As a retired Police Officer, I was always taught, take care of your equipment, she could easily damage the mic, not know it and some day when calling for help, nobody would hear her. I have no problem with her dancing, but secure your equipment first.

@@tinabelcher8116 Me too !!!! I taught high school for 30 years and did something similar to this with a buddy of mine when we did The Blues Brothers. Students should know that teachers are human who like the same things as students ... with the same energy in expressing those likes. More people need to know that teachers can "let go" on occasion. ;-)

I couldn't stop smiling from the very beginning and my smile only got bigger when more teachers kept joining in! In the last 2 1/2 years we've endured (pandemic, lockdowns, zoom everything and government in chaos) we need more Uptown Funk. What wonderful school faculty!

@@JohnRorabaugh I went a high school where it appeared difficult the teachers would even smile. Never laugh. This is priceless. Teachers worked really hard to put this together. I really admire what practice they went through for their students. Blonde with the ponytail really rocked.

yeah - my junior year a guy streaked the assembly and got hung up trying to get out of the gym - someone had narc'd on him and a coach had locked the escape door he was counting on... ;) 73 or 74 ...

I'm so proud to say that Whitmer is my alma mater. Would've loved to have seen my teachers do something like this back in the day. Way to go Whitmer faculty! Pure awesomeness!

Kudos to all those involved to make this happen. Having done something like this for a talent show in an elementary building required hours of after school practice and that was only a two minutes song. Great job!

This is why we need to protect our public schools and teachers across America. They show up an go beyond both time wise and financially EVERY day. And, they truly do it because they care.
They all need raises - which may happen now that Biden will be President. Whitmer is in Toledo, OH, a blue area. My guess is many of these teachers voted for Biden.

I taught school for over 30 years, kids liked it when we showed them we were people, too!
Every school year all the staff to perform a skit to introduce our Reading contests, after the skit the kids were smiling at us and we were smiling back great start. We also had 30 mins before class started in the gym with music to dance stretching out the wiggles out singing with actions. Everyone had a blast and off to our classrooms, this program put smiles on their faces and that’s how we started our days. Hats off to are wonderful PE instructor and her helpers who would stand by the K-3 students Our goal was to be fit, wake up our brain and have fun the instructor kept the fun rolling along we were one big family, the 70-90s were the best years to teach.

This is the type of things we did when I was in high school in the late 60 and early 70's. What a lucky group of kids to have their teacher that are willing to show off in front of them. this is a memory they will always have

My daughter and I did this dance as a surprise Bride / Father dance during her reception after her wedding. It was so much fun. We practiced for almost two months. Thank you for the inspiration and choreography.

I've graduated from HS 45 years now and this video made me so proud of those teachers, administrators and security personnel who bonded with those students that day. I am a retired teacher and kids loved it when we did stuff like this! I always chaperoned the dances, kids taught me the new dances! Loved it! I have many ex students as friends now, they have kids, but remember me! I miss working with kids!
It is important for a teacher NOT to demote yourself to the level of a high school student. I know the mindset, "let's do something so that the kids can better relate to us". What you are doing is blurring the lines between adult and student.

I agree with this. Teachers are human beings just like the rest of the population. They can dance, sing, be silly like we can. I admire this group of teachers. Wish my high school teachers would even smile, much less laugh. Times have changed over the past 40 years, though.

I don't know why this made me cry. I guess with all of the divide in the Schools and the Country it warms my heart just to see everyone having fun together without all of the nonsense. Great job everyone!

I loved this so much I've watched it several times. It took guts for the teachers to put themselves out there and the kids showing their enthusiasm and appreciation was very uplifting. Heck, even the administrators joined in. Now that's school spirit. That's a school assembly worth having!

Having been a teacher, this is absolutely the coolest thing I've ever seen at a school or otherwise.
And as a former teacher, I find it appalling.
It’s good for young people to see that their elders, teachers, parents, family, bosses, etc....can have a good time. Reminds them that they were young once too and can relate to them. Perhaps even give advice that can help.

My favorite teacher in high school was my choir teacher. He made every day in his class fun. I will never forget him. These teachers really get that. God bless them.
