I'll be covering everything from kid's chores and homework systems to bill pay, laundry, dishes and more! I hope you'll leave today's video with some motivation to curate your own home systems to simplify your life!
Want more ideas on how to make life easier? Save time and energy on the mundane tasks and have more time to do the things you love? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below! I have more ideas to share and I could talk about systems and habits all the live long day! ;)

  • I have had a day planner since I was a teenager, but a few years ago I put up another calendar on a bulletin board in the dining room for when recycling goes out, sport games, late night meetings, summer job meetings, special occasions. I put $20 a week under a little dragon figure on my desk for my husband’s weekly gas $ because cash is cheaper by his work and his Prius only uses $20 of gas week with 2 hours driving to/from work a week. I keep a list on the bulletin board so so when items are low or used up EVERYONE in the house is supposed to write it on the list for shopping or I won’t buy them on my every 2 week trip to the store. Laundry is individual. I gave my kids their own baskets at 😊12 years old and taught them to wash their own clothes so they’d be ready for college.

    • Thank u for ur message. My daughter is 11. I do the laundry. And I have a habit of washing by colours. So I am finding it difficult in giving it over to for her laundry.

    • @@mithaiable I was given valuable advice when raising children - never rob people of lessons they can only learn by doing themselves. I showed my children how to pack their school lunches starting at 5 years old, how to clean a room for company, how to use the appliances we’re blessed to afford to help with chores, how to be organized for maximum efficiency and allowed their creativity to flow outside in nature. When an 18 year old college student asked my daughter how to work the washing machine I was proud to hear she’d shown all the girls in her hall. :)

    • Yes I am so glad I taught my daughter at a young age to do laundry. I think she was 9/10. I worked at a dry cleaners and was blown away at the college students that didn’t know how to do laundry and would bring them to the dry cleaners to be done.

  • So glad you plan date nights with intention! I’m 60, and my “kids” are in their 30’s. Our weekly date nights were sacred. During our early lean years, we usually paid more to the sitter than we spent on the dates. But that’s fine. Even a fast-food dinner with uninterrupted conversation was a joy and so important. You’re doing great!

    • Absolutely! We’ve been really lazy about date nights so far this year but we do cherish our impromptu moments together without our kids… like when they are at grandmas and we get a solo trip to the gas station or get to do chores together 😆 Uninterrupted conversation is important for sure. 🥰 Thanks so much for sharing and encouraging me!

    • I will definitely put that on my video ideas list, thanks for asking! I feel like mine has become more basic over the years as a lot of things have been automated or digitized to save time and space. I basically have a section for finances (where we discuss bank balances, upcoming bills, expenses, budget, etc) I have another section for family meeting where we discuss the family calendar and obligations (work trips, kids sports, etc), kids chores, house projects, meal plans, and to-do’s I have the date night section too, a list of family/friends home addresses for Christmas cards, and several tabs with pockets for school resources/calendars to keep all of it handy. Hope that helps a bit! Thanks for stopping by!

  • For the cash stuffing do you withdraw a certain amount regularly from an ATM and then allocate it into envelopes? I rarely use cash nowadays so would not naturally come across it. I can see how it could be beneficial as if I added cash to envelopes as I’m not so likely to just unintentionally spend it in the same way I might do when it’s in my bank account and there’s a certain disconnection from it. Thanks 😊

    @carriecobb8@carriecobb819 сағат бұрын
    • So I am new to cash stuffing I have not done anything like it in years… my plan is to withdraw a certain amount of money from every paycheck and then put it in the envelopes according to our budget and sinking funds. I plan on doing another video on this in the future.. I would also love to direct you to The Aesthetic Dollar on KZhead because Emily does a great job of explaining her systems. ❤️💵

    • I brainstorms the problems first. Where am I dropping the ball? What is driving me crazy? 😆 What’s overwhelming me? Then I think through what I’m currently doing in that system and how I could simplify it. I may search online for ways other people do it or tools they use depending on the system. Then it’s about implementing what you think will work best for you and then reevaluating it again in a couple months to tweak it. 😊

    • In a recent video, I shared a little bit more about my business if you’d like to watch behind the scenes, but I own a women’s clothing store (mostly online, small brick and mortar and a traveling boutique for special events/pop ups). For the most part I work from home, therefore, I try to do household chores in the pockets of my day (although I have to keep it pretty structured because it would be easy to procrastinate on work and just clean my house all day. Lol) to answer your question my husband does help around the house, but for the most part, I take care of household chores and he takes care of anything outside of our home on our farm (he also works full time, travels a bit for work and manages our small farm!) during my busiest season he helps more around the house because he knows that I have extra to do at work. I’m blessed with the best and we are quite the team. 🥰👏 I hope that helps answer your question. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hiring a babysitter can be very expensive and we are honestly just blessed to have grandparents close by so I understand that can be really hard. Maybe you could also get creative and find a way to have a date night at home after bedtime? Sometimes just watching a movie with my husband is fun and we can call it a date lol
