Yeah, it simultaneously amuses and annoys me how many modern manufacturers seem to think that "off-road" means "anywhere that isn't paved". I suppose it's mainly to pander to the consumers who think likewise, and automotive engineers don't really believe that some clown who happens to be on a dirt road is having some kind of studly wilderness adventure that requires specialized equipment. :)

Counterpoint: living in a country that has 6 months of snow, this car car with its "off-roady" capabilities will be fantastic. The roads are plowed often but there is still lots and lots of it and having that slight increase in ground clearance and those plastic wheel arches means you are ever so slightly more capable during the winter time. The most important feature being the 4 wheel drive.

It's usually difficult to judge how fast he's going when he accelerates but the way the cars disappeared in the rear glass was crazy.
It is very quick. I don’t know about this car but I rode in the Taycan 4S and holy it is just amazing. It also sounds like a rocket ship when it accelerates lol

It doesn't take guts, it takes a realization that this is the direction vehicles are going. Gas is expected to run out in about 50 years anyway. The problem for Porsche is the prices which make Teslas look like a bargain. If you're referring to a station wagon from Porsche of all companies, yeah that does take marketing guts.

Hopefully. This tech ages very quickly and I don't even want to think what happens when these screens start breaking. Imagine being unable to drive your Porsche because the gauge cluster died.
I agree. Touch screens will be so 2020... And they are, like this climate vent, mostly useless, overcomplicated and of course expensive to replace if you can even get the parts in 10 or 20 years.

Yep. Interaction design is more common these years, thats the science of designing an experience for all the senses. Steve Jobs knew that, that is why the first iphones had that clicking sound and vibration that were so satisfying. Those are called microinteractions, and they are essential for a delightful experience. Ive seen more and more products designing for all the senses instead of sight only. The future looks awesome!

I like the look of this, and well done for continuing to make wagons. I will say, I find I never like asymmetrical wheels, and these are no exception.
I can imagine the porsche CEOs sitting around a table thinking "yup, controlling the vents and pretty much everything through separate touch screens that will look outdated in 3 years tops is futuristic."
I know right. A screen would only be futuristic and stay updated if it's designed as a screen, as a well thought out intuitive UI. What they have done is replicating what you do with buttons on screens. They should either come up with a ground up intuitive screen based UI/UX or stick with quality dials. And the worst of all is those screes lag like 10 year old low end tabs and have massive bezels that do not go with the premium design of the rest of the interior. Car is great, interior is also great but the UI/UX is horrible.
That’s how you get Porsche customers to buy a new car in 3 years when It starts to feel outdated

Handling is good for a four door, but you have such things as hypercars etc.. . There is no comparison to a lightweight sportscar.
Hey Doug, love your vids! On your drive tests, your lav mic tends to pick up a lot of road / rumble noise - not sure what you use for editing but when mixing the audio, you can put an EQ / high pass filter on the channel / mix and roll off all the mud under 80-100Hz. Will make you commentary more audible + allow you to get more volume on the vids. Thanks again for doing all your awesome hard work on making this channel rad!

Informative review. I learned a few things even though I've watched several other Taycan reviews. Well done.
2 months ago, I drove the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo. It was pretty much base, but I had so much fun driving it. The space sound is amazing, the handling through corners is insane for a car this heavy. Absolutely loved it. Also very comfortable and enough room for long trips. Although it wasn’t the Turbo, the base is still fast with 480 hp in launch control mode. Absolutely love it. I would take the coffee beige colour, every detail blacked out, high gloss 21 inch cross turismo wheels adn the high gloss off-road exterior package. Absolute dream❤

A lot of the other reviewers have gone in-depth about the driving of the vehicle. I very much like that Doug goes into nerd levels of details about the car outside of how it actually drives. He points out things about cars that no other reviewer would even think to find!

He “finds things” but doesn’t research things. For example this is made to be a crossover because then for the CAFE standards it gets to be averaged in with Porsche SUV’s to reduce the corporate average. Also from the Smoking Tire, they mentioned that Germans don’t count storage space above the top of the back of the seat, so that’s why this doesn’t have more listed cargo capacity. He could just exert a little more effort to get info on what regulations cause a car to be the way it is, but he basically shows all the surface details without really any research.

In towing, we currently dead drag /skull drah a lot of vehicles up onto the tray. The we put the tray up as steep as possible, wet the tray and skake the hell out of it, back and forward. I can only imagine that in 10 years this will become more the norm than not.

Cool Video as always, Doug. Just a hint - at 3:10 when talking about the ‚regular’ Taycan in comparison to the Cross Turismo…that’s the Mission E Concept, not a Taycan… There are two things that give it away right away - the suicide rear doors and the profiled rear wing. And the reduction in cargo space does not come from a larger battery. It comes from the subwoofer of the Bose stereo system that comes standard with the Turbo and Turbo S and is optional for the lower specs. This one even has the Burmester 3D Sound System (can be seen at 8:32 and 12:09). All Cross Turismos come with the performance battery (aka larger battery) as standard. So even a base Cross Turismo will have the reduced cargo space if you opt for the sound system upgrade - it’s not a battery thing. Also, it’s cool to finally see a review of a Cross Turismo without the Off-Road Design Package (aka the little wings around the wheelarches) - nearly all of the promo cars have that option installed… Greetings from Germany

that is the optional chrono clock! you can get it in the 911 as well..but for this wagon you can also have a compass :)
One cool thing about the passenger screen is it’s not locked out from menus like the the center screen is while driving. For example getting the WIFI password. The center screen can’t do it while driving but the passenger screen can.

The trunk in the turbo and turbo S is actually smaller because of the Subwoofer that come standard in these models. If you order the Subwoofer in the other models it is the same smaller trunk. It has nothing to do with the battery. Greetings from Germany
