Lyrics:
the end was not never near
I taste what I wanna hear
the poles are shifting nice, the comet’s cold as ice
the only answer is because, just because
yes understood, things will fall apart just like they should
this little shred was good
don’t think it through, things will fall apart they always do
at least something’s always true
these facts getting pretty fict.
I cant follow off the cliff
free donuts call my name, but cant un-circle drains
the only answer is because, just because
yes understood, things will fall apart just like they should
this little shred was good
don’t think it through, things will fall apart they always do
at least something’s always true

A SONG SO BIG, IT COULDNT FIT IN HIS HOUSE!
It’s bigger than his Buick
It's bigger than CAPS LOCK
Thought the same thing!!!😂😂😂
or a van, or a porta potty
Nah this is Louis' house now
Sam Wilkes, Louis Cole, and Genevieve Artadi back together again? OH FUCK IT'S RAI THISLETHWAYTE.
The prayers have been heard!

Louis Cole showing what big horn sections are made for.
*YES.* There's nothing like the sound of real horns (especially in person). I guess many artists feel that horn sections are cost-prohibitive, so it's great to see/hear all these horns on Louis' stuff. 😎
...the Strings section as well...wouldn't be the same without them contrasting the horns.
There is something about a big fat low brass section…
@@bbfoto7248 So true! They're really the star of the 2nd act. Adding some air over the gravitas.
@@JohanJortso If you dig how LC uses fat low brass, there's a Belgian DJ/comp/arr named Apashe who you might enjoy also. Particularly his "Renaissance" album.
It is to be admired how each of your releases can sound sonically totally different, but yet your melodies are instantly recognizable as 100% Louis Cole. Your way of composing is one of a kind.
i've never had a good way of articulating this thought but like his horn & string writing just has such a catchy style to it, maybe its just cuz their written with like bass guitar-level of groove and pocket feel, but like man there's always some cool chord and melody choices that i can distinctly recognize as a louis cole sound
I can always tell by the sneaky major thirds in the melody lol
@@iammatt3394I was about to say the same thing. Such a sneaky and groovy addition
His drum sound is also very recognisable. Bassy and tight.
@@iammatt3394 Rhythmically its very straight til it isn't and then its like oooooh yeah STRAIGHSTRIGHTSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHTSWINGYSWTRAIGHT STRAIGHT STRAIGHTSWINGYSTRAIGHSTRAIGHTSTRAIGHT
It's like a major-key sequel to I'm The President, I like it
It does have that motif, and I like it when he reuses a motif he previously used in other songs like a reference of sorts
Had the same thought
And that one itself was using a motif from "When you're ugly". He's up to something.
So accurate!
It’s minor until it’s major. Significant vibes.
The face Sam makes when vibing hard is something i want to achieve some day
You know how being drunk is temporary, and you look drunk when you're drunk? Now replace "drunk" with severely mentally disabled by funk and that's Sam's face
I had a very similar thought.
Sam is legitimately one of my favorite musicians to watch. No matter what the fuck he's playing, dude is at Maximum Enjoyment. Dude could literally spend 30 minutes plucking a single note as the bassline and he'd look like he's having the greatest time
Sam day it will happen. Trust
Like if he's eating his bass. Brilliant.
Thank you for making the internet a better place, one song at the time.
an entire album with the Metropole Orkest? hell yeah
Oh you're in for a treat if you haven't heard the snarky puppy metropolitan orkest ep 👌👌
Congratulations on composing the new James Bond theme
Just imagine... holy f
BondC0re!
Just have Louis score the whole thing
I read this comment and thought to myself "huh I don't really get that but whatever" but then immediately hit the bridge, holy crap!
Mans sounds like an MPC on those drums
I really apreciate musicians that are honest about what's live and what's overdub.
Right?? It's so disappointing how many musicians try to fool their listeners/viewers. And they don't seem to understand that there are almost always tells.
My honest guess is that the overdub is partly from to avoid the drum bleed in the vocal channel
what do you mean by this? what is the context for this video

a bit very alright!!! As a 62 year ld who grew up with the Jazz Fusion bands of the '70s and '80s, I started getting depressed a few years ago when my heros started dying of old age. Folks like Louis give me hope for the future. Great stuff indeed!
Another 62 year lad here. Yes, we're blessed :-)
I’m 57 and i agree !🤩
Hold up maybe he's taking them out like The One
65 here. I love Louis and his projects and I agree that he's bringing back Fusion in a big way. If you haven't done so yet, check out Vulfpeck and Snarky Puppy too. Things are looking up!

Me too!
This Metropole concert was so epic. I cannot describe how happy I am that Louis and Co are releasing a new album featuring this performance. Pure magic. Think I might die when I hear High Five fully mixed and mastered

that's what I love about this dude, his show is on the road too. One day, he will play here, and add his name to the legendary list of artists who also hate winnipeg.
I never heard him talk about Winnipeg!?! What happened there? I grew up near there in the 80's! (Old man, lol)
@@Golgo2047 politics started killing the scene around 2000 when it got greedy, stopped buskers and made em rehaerse and pay for licenses, most of the venues took a hit when the smoking bylaws were introduced, and stages wouldn't book unless the band had at least two hundred guests trailing arond with them. Now that the economy is in tip top shape for tyrants, we gotta step over the addicts to pay for cover in an empty venue. People enjoy thier entertaining mostly at home these days, if you got one. seventies kid here, but as long as there is music and great art, this corpse is going to stay young at heart.
I'll drive to Winnipeg from Calgary if Louis Cole plays there (and not anywhere else closer to me). And anyone who liked the weakerthans knows how much of a thing that is.
@@PaulKentSkates one great city sure did make a permanent mark, and rightfully so, it's a good tune, but louis cole and his massive entourage is something that's absolutely needed in this modern world. The clown core stuff... that's gotta be louis and sam...
The sheer number of things that didn't fall apart in order to make this happen is deliciously ironic.
OH MY GOD NEW LOUIS COLE🎉
Went to the LC & MO gig in Utrecht last year. Best concert of my life. Walking back to the hotel, I bought a ticket for the next night in Amsterdam. So damn good man
lol i did the same! and then got 2nd degree burns scalding my foot making tea that night
Never have I ever heard a song about inevitability and the absurdity of the randomness intrisic to existence be so groovy. And Ive listened to my fair share of soulful gospel stuff back in the day. If Cole collabed with someone capable of doing that sound... That black church sound plus whatever Cole and crew live and breathe... I tremble in hopes of such a thing happening.
What about Things?
Let’s talk about how amazing the Metropole are… open to every kind of collaboration. Yes!!!!
Rai Thistlethwayte always reminds me of Holger Czukay. And that is a very good reminder.
Now I spend the rest of the day crying and grinning
"You're welcome." - that's some boss ass shit.
Louis Cole, future Oscar winner for best original score
Didn't he already win that for a video game score?
Alas, he was overlooked for Dance of Doom.
I’m glad that camp (Louis, Genevieve, Sam G, Sam W, Jacob, Rai, Clown Core, Sam & Sam, Knower, etc) over there are starting to drop more music frequently. That fact we have confirmation of a new Sam & Sam album and a new Louis album dropping this year is amazing.
I'm so happy to see Rai up there playing keys. It's awesome seeing him achieving so much.
Damn, the outro is OUTSTANDING. Thank you Louis.
its ANGELICAL
I love when Louis mix minor and major 3rd in the melody and the chords of the songs, they give them that kinda epic melancholic result which is ammmmmmaaaazing!!!!!!!
love how they bring a whole orchestra not just for cosmetic embellishment or just to flex they knew it was critical to enable the idea of this song and they max juiced it out
Let us also give a hand to the Metropole Orkest, their performance and arrangement skills is next level just like they did with Snarky Puppy.
They’re absolute pros. Always nailing it!
Yes! The Metropole Orkest is next level but Louis arranged this.
and Cory Wong, THE "Thinking" arrangements and performances with the WDR and Norrbotten Big Bands are also great. Those European big bands are fire!
Looks like Louis arranged it, but I’m guessing they had someone orchestrate it for The Orkest
@@skierpageand Jacob collier. And herbie Hancock. Jesus Christ these guys get around
This was last year at North Sea Jazz. I coincidentally met Louis' parents after the show, such lovely human beings!
Judging by those shades, he means business
that little look between Louis and Sam at 0:44 is perfect, the boys are locked in, so satisfying
Loving Louis Cole's orchestral period
that orchestra though, hot damn!
Louis’ channel as a whole is like a Cyriak video that starts with him alone on a keyboard and he gradually fractalizes into an entire orchestra, collab anyone?
This mans music is so dope
Louis Cole you are amazing my friend. You have a life long fan.
I love how much fun everybody has when they play with Louis Cole! 😊
Spent the day listening to Louis Cole stuff and just when I think it's time to give it a break, this drops
Louis Cole string sections are positively gosh dang chef's kiss
The vibrations of the world are harmonizing!!
The most important musician on the planet just now. REAL music, played by human beings. I don't know where this will wind up, but I am along for the ride regardless.
This - is - just - great!!! First contact ever with Louis Cole brings up this awesame piece of music!
Welcome to the rabbit hole. You're in for a great ride 🎵😃
Can't stop listening/watching. Favorite song of the year!
this concert was amazing and one of the best concerts i have ever seen,. Louis is the best musician in the universe!! Got my ticket already for 7th of october 2024 can't wait for it.
I knew the moment would come for those concerts to become a record. The mastering is insane. Thank you Louis 🙌
The end part is a total tearjerker. My grandma started to cry in the other room.
Did she and you listen to Quality over Opinion too ?
I love the sweet major notes amongst all of the minor - it’s beautifully jarring.
Give Sam the lifetime achievement award for best bass face in history, hurry up, do it now
The best music on this planet right now, a man who can transcend genres and moods with music like an artistic painter does with brush strokes. You may have saved popular music from gen z apathy! Let's spread the word people, we got a new sheriff in town!!
The centre can't hold all this great music
Never a dull moment with Louis Cole! Bloody brilliant!
It is so hard to find music so nice, made with integrity, honesty and finely honed skill.
OMG! Look at what Louis Cole has become! BRAVO!!! Your a star in a sea of crap Brother! Pure musical excellence and creative bliss! Love you
I've already listened to this 5 or 6 times, and it's given me goosebumps every time.
Louis cole carrying the music industry on his back Thank you L.C
Every time I wonder “what’s Louis Cole up to” he drops some shit that clearly took an insane amount of planning, coordinating, composing, and editing…and he keeps setting the bar higher.
The sheer magnitude of this production blows my mind! Great work!
love how they blend reality check lyrics with great orchestration like cry tomorrow laugh today anyhow .. Love You guys always ....
I love Louis Cole...
Incredible! Can't wait for the album
Can't wait to see you guys in Germany, Essen! Genevieve For President!
This is some trippy, heady stuff. Love the grand arrangements, and the keyboardist chugging away on the chords even through the quiet bits gave it a surprising consistency which was also welcome.
Louis and friends, this song saved my life by appearing just when I needed it most. Thank you so much, and I hope I get to see you and/or Knower live again someday. Much love from London (home of Acid Jazz and UK Garage) xx
Been waiting for this level of production from Cole! The recording of this was top notch (smart, re-dubbing the vocals)!
The mix was huge wide and airy, yet the drums we're vibrating my kidneys. Pure power mix! 🤟
DAMN ALREADY? I THOUGHT THE NEW STUFF WAS MONTHS AWAY
My god those chords are SO GOOD, another Louis Cole banger.
God this was INSANE to witness live (albeit not at this venue)! Incomparable experience. I think I damn near lost my mind.
Absolute serendipity. Louis connects to your pleasure sensors with his arrangements.
Of all geniosity he has made Videos of, this is now my favourite. Pure beauty.
Please welcome to the stage the Louis Cole All-Stars!
Thank Goodness for Louis! A small but growing light in a sea of current dullness! This is utterly brilliant!
Distilling the beauty of insignificance. Masterpiece!
Best music out there in my humble opinion.
Boards of Canada vibes in that ending!
Glad i'm not the only one lol
Thank you for existing. That's it
thanks louis, i got carried away and shed tears, i love you guys
i love louis cole to bits. but maybe the greatest thing about him is that i see a video like this and i see familiar faces. after seeing names like rai thistlethwaite and sam wilkes and jacob mann and sam gendel etc etc in his other videos, i've started exploring their individual music and finding absolute gems in there. thanks lc
Such a grandios setup, I'm in awe and in love at the same time! To hear such personal and heartfelt music poured so much love, time and effort into is truly special. I pity the people out in the world, who does not see the wondrous things that are happening in the world of music and art, and who's convinced that the greatest works of art lies centuries behind us. There's so much more to come, and we refuse to look for the beautiful and just settle for mediocrity.
The brass sounds soooo powerful!
Louis Cole is like a modern day electro-funk Andrew Lloyd Webber. Holy crap I cannot wait to see you guys in Minneapolis on 4/30/24. So stoked.
Sam’s such a vibe 💯✨
What a beautiful arrangement.
that outro healed me
Mixed to perfection ✨
Louis Cole makes music of a legendary quality
What an incredible song. What an incredible recording. I've listened to this so many times in the last couple days. 😆
Louis Cole does it again. Absolutely amazing
"you're welcome" 🤩🤩
Honest to God, at the end of the video I was thinking there's still good in the world and said "thanks, dude" out loud and that came up on the screen... Shook me hard
Spectacular. Music that is mesmerizing and grandiose. You could tell me this was a movie soundtrack and I wouldn't bat an eye.
Such recognisable drums holy shit even live
Can't wait "Shuffle" to come out
Yes! And High Five. Loved Pedro's solo on Shuffle. Cannot articulate how exciting it is that this concert is getting a release. YES BRO!
Looks like it'll be "These Dreams Are Killing Me" in the album info.
