Oh wow! I bought this for myself back in 2013 remembering that my mom used to wear this shade. At the time they also had a single shadow of Black Honey too, which was wild because on me it looked like a burgundy shade, but on my friend (who has a darker complexion) it looked almost iridescent pink! Forgot how much I loved the ease of this lipstick, might need to pick it up again!

They had a whole range of Black Honey products, I think there was an eyeshadow palette and even a nail polish. Then an eyeliner in a pot wich I believe is still available. There is also a Black Honey shade in the Cheek Pop blushes.
Agreed! It's so fun watching it come back around. Lip products are my favorite! It's been my go to lip product since 1999 or so. It's great cuz it looks different but great on everyone and it never goes out of style and goes with any eye look because it's so sheer and buildable. So if you do a really muted eye you can put on a few layers to do a bold lip or you can just swipe it across your lips once for a hint of color and subtle shine if you are doing a bold eye. It feels so good on too. Like lip balm. I can't say enough great things about this lipstick gloss/stain. It's the most versatile makeup products I own for sure.

Hrmn2811 x It's not different from anything and not special in any way. It's an easy to pull off for many people sheer lipstick. Viral doesn't mean special or groundbreaking. It's a nice product, been around for a long time. You can find a similar sheer shade easily.
This was actually my grandma’s first lipstick when she moved to America, she has the potted version, I wonder if I can find it the next time I visit her! My mom still has the stick version from the 90s haha
I still have my potted version which is about 25 years old, and new as well. Not sure why I never threw it away.
Mom and Grandma know best, learn from them.

I have been wearing this lipstick since 1982! It’s in my five most favorite lipsticks of all time and I hope they never stop making it! P.s. I’m glad other women/girls are getting to know it and enjoying it like we have.

Agreed. It's fun watching it come back around! I started using it when I was 19. Back in 1999 and it's in my top 3. I love lip products so that's saying something. It's the most versatile makeup product out there. It looks great on everyone and feels good on and it's buildable so you can wear a few coats with a nude eye or just one if you are doing a look that is more focused on a bold eye. I also live for Buxom full on lip plumping cream ( my fav shade is White Russian). It's so gorgeous and it really plumps up my pout and the formula is just the right amount of slippy and sticky so it stays on but your hair won't end up stuck to your mouth at the first gust of wind and it feels nice the lips and has a beautiful glossy shine

My Mom used to be the Marketing Manager for Clinique Canada. This lipstick colour has been a BESTSELLER since it got launched. It looks great on everyone. I have to laugh at the VIRAL tag though-can something be viral if it’s been huge for 50+ years? I’m glad it’s still a hit. It deserves to be 💄❤️
Yes! Everyone is like “glad it’s finally getting recognized!!!”, and I’m like…. It’s BEEN recognized for literal decades. I’m dead.
Sadly, not EVERYONE can wear it. I look like death warmed-over in it because I'm SO fair-skinned 😞 I can wear "Pink Honey" though.

I first purchased and wore this as a freshman in high school in 1993. I last purchased this late last year (2020) and last used it about a month ago. Clinique gets so much heat, but they have some incredible products. They've never changed their aesthetic, and imo their aesthetic is still relevant and timeless.
I have worn this for 35 years… your lips bit better is the best description! No matter the occasion, it’s perfect. Put a redder lipliner and you’ve got the perfect shade. Slap in on in the car at a stop light.. perfect color. Love it!

Clinique's Black Honey is literally my favorite thing ever. My mom got a sample of it and didn't like it and gave it to me and I've been obsessed ever since.
I remember my mom putting one of these in my Christmas stocking...in 1998. I wore it on and off until around 2002. Girls on my tennis team would sometimes share one in the locker room before heading out just in case their crush was in the student center as we headed out to the field.
I've been wearing this since middle school in the very early 90s, and 30 years later, I still keep one in my vanity and one in my purse at all times. This is an absolute staple in my collection. FTR, ELF has a great dupe if you're not willing to shell out 20 bones on lipstick.

Wow! Talk about nostalgia! I was around for the original pot of Black Honey in 1971. A beautiful colour that went well with midi-skirts and feathered bangs.
I love layering it on top of other lipsticks. I especially love it over a bright red. And it's os moisturizing
You made me go and buy it just it now. The fact that it "adjusts" to your skin tone with out using body heat sold me.

I’ve loved this for at least 6 years! Clinique Black Honey Pop blush is also my favorite. I’ve heard a good dupe for the lipstick is Nivea BlackBerry lip balm.

I was just thinking of this. I love the way it looks but i gave the Nivea to my mother because it has an icky taste to me. She can't sense it and loves it.

i got a mini black honey as an ulta gwp and i love pairing it with the nyx lip liner in nude beige and blotting it slightly for a more matte finish - it's a gorgeous rosy shade on my very cool-toned skin that reminds me of a more wearable 90s supermodel look. definitely going to be a go-to combo this fall!
This was my first lipstick and I have not worn any other color since, I am in my 60s. We had it going on in the ‘70s. It is a beautiful color. Many things from the past come back around. Way to go CLINIQUE!

My Clinique Black Honey pulls the same color as your lipstick. I have the Nivea Blackberry lip care. It isn’t as pigmented because it is a lip balm vs a lipstick. It definitely gives you a similar look for about $3. Both are quite nourishing on the lips this time of year.

I got a Clinique almost lipstick color for Christmas 2 years ago I think, in a sort of deep berry color I don't think they have anymore, but black honey looks so good, and I loved the balmy finish that I think I'm going to have to go out and buy one xD thanks for re-introducing me to this product! Black Honey Almost Lipstick is one of my fave Clinique products, along with their famous Different Lotion & Power Mascara. I brought that product to my trip to London & European Christmas Market tour 2 years ago for my dressier lip color. Glad you like this product.
This is great! I didn't know this was a viral lipstick. Total blast from my past. I remember when I was a teen back in the 80s my mom bought me this lipstick. At the time, Clinque seemed like such a fancy and expensive brand you could only buy it behind the counter at the department store. It felt so luxurious to go to the counter for a "consultation" and have the ladies pull the products out in their beautiful packaging. Now in the department stores they have it out on the floor, and you can just pick it up without asking for someone to pull it. Also, Ulta, Sephora, Amazon and even Target carry this brand now.
@Clouds By no means am I saying Clinique isn't still luxurious. I mean it's a $20.00 lipstick. My statement was more based on the fact that the brand marketing was more about exclusivity. They promoted that feeling of not just anyone could walk into the store and pick up a box with their lipstick in it, take it to the register and pay. It was being watched like expensive jewlery kept locked in a case. I think all brands are more accessible now because there are so many and so much competition. Even the drugstore brands have upped their game tremendously to compete. Also, back in the day, most people weren't willing to pay a lot for cosmetics or they just couldn't because a lot of people didn't have credit cards.

I started using this in the 90s and I gave it as gifts to so many friends and family over the years since ppl always complimented me on it and it truly does look good on everyone. Pale red heads to the deepest skin tones.

I wore this in Jr. High & high school. It was popular then too (mid -late 90’s ) I would love to buy it again but I am on a lipstick no buy. Hopefully it will be more available in a year or so when I am ready for new lipsticks!

Clinque black honey is flattering on everyone. It was extremely popular in the late 70s. It had a renaissance in the 90s and its nice to see it back again.

This reminds me so much of a product that Avon used to carry when I was a teenager in the late 1980s. It was called slick tints and it was a cross between a balm and a lipstick. It was the first lip product my sister and I ever wore. Our Mom used to buy it for us all the time. They had a color that was spot on for black honey and other gorgeous colors. I miss those days so much. My mom always made sure I had makeup that was appropriate for my age .💜
