    • It's easy to hate this company when you look into WW2 history. Gunther Quandt and Goebbels shared a wife. Concentration camps were used to supply factory workers and life expectancy was not very long. The Quandt family should have been held accountable and later generations did not even apologize.

Both came out of a half cut E34 imorted from Japan as spare parts. Both had been used for only 60,000 ks. Love BMW its been the best car ive ever had.

    • I would hate to hear what you had to do with other vehicles you owned, if having to replace the entire drivetrain is the best example. Unless you mean the best car in every other aspect. I can agree there. The company has gone in directions I have not personally been completely happy with (just in the last 5 years or so), but still consider them at the top (or at least sharing that position - depending on the vast number of parameters this can be measured with) of the automotive world. Very few if any can build cars like they do. Truly special innovative.

My first choice of Motorcycles (don't have one anymore, but as I learned from a 16-18 year old rider calling it for the Rolls Royce of MC's) and since my first BMW cars since 1978, first an 1602, then the superb 2800 saloon, 3 different 5-series and still happy with my X3 3.0D - fast enough too with CRDI tuning making it possible to do 270... 310 hp). As said in this video title "It's more than just vehicles, cars, motorcycles - It's a way ofLife...".

  • You missed out the two main factors in BMW's growth after the war: Making the Isetta under licence from ISO and using the stretched "600" version as the basis for their "700" sedan. Persuading the creditors of Borgward - their main rival - to declare it insolvent and put it out of business with no justification.

    @richardball3585@richardball358511 ай бұрын
    • Oops! Looks like I left out a couple of important plot twists in BMW's growth story. Making the Isetta and using Borgward's demise as an opportunity to shine were indeed significant factors. Thanks for pointing that out! BMW surely knows how to seize the chances and play the game. 🏁💼

  • What did BMW really do post WWII ??? They offered a line of executive & family sedans with just enough smugness & envy. Starting with the 1976 BMW 2002, they handled well & they raced the heck out of them. Come the SUV craze, BMW jumped on board. BMW also kept up with technology, electronics, & features, more so than Volvo or Saab, Britain had its own general malaise, & was stuck in its upperclass mud & snobbery.
