It was not the lottery money that brought his downfall but the way he employed it. He started off well with donations to the Church but didn't have a plan to effectively employ his fortune. Had he started an institution to help the poor and the needy, it would've given him fulfillment and long lasting happiness. Drugs and alcohol brought his downfall!

He should have moved his whole family (daughter and grandaughter) to a gated club in florida and lived very low profile. That was a very big amount of money. Instead of wasting it on gambling, wine and women, he could have built a home for the homeless and the poor . There are lots of charities that need financial funding which he could have helped. Or he could have established a scholarship for the unfortunate students. In his mind, he should have created a meaning and a purpose for this gift.
