  • It was not the lottery money that brought his downfall but the way he employed it. He started off well with donations to the Church but didn't have a plan to effectively employ his fortune. Had he started an institution to help the poor and the needy, it would've given him fulfillment and long lasting happiness. Drugs and alcohol brought his downfall!

  • Incredible how a very successful middle age businessman could go so far off the rails. He should have moved his whole family (daughter and grandaughter) to a gated club in florida and lived very low profile. Maybe visit his old hometown in the summer for a few weeks and handout maybe two or three hundred thousand$ just because he can. And thats it.

  • That was a very big amount of money. Instead of wasting it on gambling, wine and women, he could have built a home for the homeless and the poor . There are lots of charities that need financial funding which he could have helped. Or he could have established a scholarship for the unfortunate students.   • For people with low self-control like him, a monthly payment option for the lottery win is available. Instead he chose the lumpsome payment option and burned himself to the ground. It appears he was semi-consicously self-destructing. When a person gets something that is unearned and perceived by him as undeserved, he will likely work towards wasting it away. In his mind, he should have created a meaning and a purpose for this gift.

  • Just want everyone to know , If I ever hit the lotto I will set up a fund at my church and large homeless shelter , I on the other hand will be in my small cabin with my wife and dog , raising chickens and gardening , open a good clinic up in the mountains so people don't have to go so far to see doctors or get meds , my great great great grand children will have a running start at this cold world , me I would be living my dream with my awesome wife and showing her how much I love her for the way she has treated me through thick and like now thin , she is my little lotto in life and love , 23 years of the my best years in life , not easy and not rich in money , but rich in love and friendship , Peace

  • People often misquote the scriptures and claim "The root of all evil is money", but it does not say that. It says "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil". That's what destroys people, not the money itself. Jack put his money before God and family and that's a recipe for disaster.
