Smurfing is to stay in low elo to just dunk on people, Timmy was trying to climb through the ranks, he didn't stay in bronze-gold for too long, and to be fair, Timmy did ask a Riot employee if its okay to do the marathon for just the one stream and was given the green light.
Even messaged said employee so him being on this list is actually stupid asf
Yea, I fucking hate smurfing. It makes newer players want to quit. But I think what Timmy was doing could have been better. He would have created a new account if you didn't have to go through so many matches to play ranked.
A better example is that the german streamer Trimax. He got boosted from many pro/high elo player and all of them are streamer too. Because of the Timmy ban I wrote the riot about that because the smurfer got new low accs when they climbed too high and riot and twitch did nothing. i am very pissed that a fcking 50k viewer can do that but timmy got baned for it.

Timmy isn't a "cheater" in the traditional sense. He has great natural aim. I think having him on a different list would've been more appropriate.

If you’ve ever played in a bronze lobby on halo ranked, you will understand why smurfing is cheating. Sbmm exists for a reason, and true gamers like myself relish competition, we don’t shy away from it.

The fact that, not only is this video exposing cheaters a half hour long, but it is part 4, just speaks to how rampant of an issue this is
im 39 years old and seen cheater rise and rise and the fact game dev don't combat it and just let them run rampant
It really does suck. Pro players getting caught cheating at Pro live events is the worst. But Pro's also cheat casually, and have been caught in webs. Cheating in FPS, whether aimbot, or 'walling' go back a long way. In things like Quake, where the skill of the average player is already quite high, and aimbotting will be spotted very quickly in a duel, 'walling' is the preferred cheat. Despite how much movement and precision are the cornerstone of the gameplay, position is still king. Always being in the right spot, or alternatively, avoiding being in the wrong spot. People get caught with ESP all the time in duels. It's not 'provable', but their behavior is strange, and everyone knows what is going on. A player looks directly into a facing wall, rather than clearing or splashing problematic access points. The opposing player is directly on the other side of that wall, and they want to know where he is moving towards to cut him off or avoid. When watching stuff like this, it becomes very apparent when someone is cheating. A good player would make sure they were safe before taking a gamble on a big move that leaves them exposed. Instead of checking or verifying the location of the enemy, or at least congesting possible threat area's with splash as they cross, they do it with abandon AS IF THEY KNOW there is no threat. They play like this consistently, and never check anything, which is wild, and they are never wrong or punished for such carelessness. It's because they aren't being careless at all, and they know the movement is safe and they aren't exposed, because they know the location of the other player.
It's why PC gaming sucks
part of this issue is the little kids that watch these cheaters, they need to do better things with their life than watch some loser cheater

Couple clarifications on Cody Miller - he was asked to speedrun Halo 1 (Combat Evolved) at GDQ in 2011, which is where the footage is from. This happened following a supposedly near-impossible WR he got on one level (The Maw), and after finishing over 2 hours past the estimated time, it tipped people off that he wasn't being truthful and that he most certainly cheated on The Maw, as well as at least a handful of his other runs.
That gdq run is hilarious to rewatch. I've never played a Halo game but watching him play was just a masterpiece
Yeah I remember that. He took up too much of the time docket, he was only supposed to have a certain amount of time and he went over it quite a bit. I think they made a rule since then about the time alotted, but I don't recall what it was.

Hats off to the people who were able to endure the whole run sitting next to Cody. That was some of the deadliest dose of second hand embarrassment I have ever seen in gaming.

With IItztimmy he was playing the game normally because he was aiming for the highest rank not trying to stay low rank so he can dominate newer players. So I don’t think that is necessarily cheating as he was playing the game normally just at a faster rate

To me, it looked like he was basically speedrunning the game. Going from the start of the game ( lowest rank) to the end (highest rank).
Exactly smurfing is when you stay in lower ranks to get better stats, he is actively trying to get from the lowest to the highest as fast as possible

I agree with this, while Smurfing itself is not good for the state of any game, if you go and watch his run (it's on YT) he quickly moves through many of the ranks in only an hour or 2 since his back-end MMR quickly pushes him into higher ranked lobbies.

I'll never forget when I was 11 and got accused of using an aimbot. I hadn't even heard about aimbot before that and when I showed my dad, he laughed hysterically. I made a group of grown ass men pissy cause they couldn't beat me. It's memorable for me cause I also learned about y2k later that day.
My boyfriend had a friend that played with his friend (right next to each other, mind you), where the friend accused my BF's friend of hacking/cheating because he was a better player. All this was in Call of Duty: Black Ops 1.

Yeah dude I don't even use TikTok & I know about tons of thieves. Like this one Brazilian girl named Julia K Barni made a really cool dance to the song Rasputin, & this super white girl named SmilingHannah literally made the same video with the same exact dance moves, & didn't credit Julia ANYWHERE. & this dance was pretty huge, it got Julia a few spots on television & was definitely a proud moment for Brazilian creators, & a girl with 5x more followers straight up stole her choreography, except she can't dance as well so she left out the harder moves, & posted it with a caption suggesting she had created the dance herself. When people accused her of stealing the dance, her rabid fans said "You can't STEAL dance moves. Dancing exists everywhere for everyone, you can't just lay claim to certain dance moves just because you did them first" which is totally wrong & not how that works at all. You can absolutely steal choreography, & SmilingHannah absolutely stole Julia K Barni's choreography.
Regarding the Timmy clip, he asked and was given permission beforehand to smurf and do the marathon run from the developers themselves, which is why he got unbanned.
Still sucks tho, riot allowing someone to smurf and ruining other players' games just because he's famous and has permission.

Timmy did what’s called a “Ranked Speedrun”, which may not have been so common at the time, but is a very commonplace thing in competitive/ranked games today. That being said, Ranked Speedrun accounts are supposed to be verified by the developer, and anyone the account beats is supposed to have their ranking points refunded post-defeat
Riot doesnot care for cheaters and smurfers in lower ranks, only after certain ranks riot takes action

I didn't know Timmy's Valorant Speedrun had been pre-approved; Riot could have coupled the ranked points refund with a special "I got smurfed on" or something commemorative ;) Even cooler, a special note to the players by the speedrunner at the end of the match (similar to the red cheater screen) explaining the context and highlighting the fact they just played against a pro (or whatever) and can learn from this valuable experience etc. That would make me feel heaps better after a loss like that. hey there's me rambling again

Timmy didn’t cheat he talked to his personal dev from riot and got permission to create a new account and start his account from unranked to radiant in a single stream, unfortunately the head riot devs weren’t aware of this and they banned him because they thought he was cheating, but everything is cleared up now and he was allowed to resume streaming, he more or less did it to speed run himself back into the lobbies he should be in, Timmy made an entire explanation video about it I believe
Riot's anti-cheat is so bad they had to manually ban him even though he wasn't cheating lmfao, really shows that Riot knows their AC is useless

The Timmy one is different considering this isnt the first time he has done these marathons. Most smurfs will throw games in order to stay in the lower ranks while Timmy was flying thru the lower ranks and staying out of them. Hell most high level league streamers have alt accounts that are also high ranking accounts that were considered smurfs at one point. so while he may have ruined a game or 2 for some lower ranks he wasn't dominating in low elo for very long

Literally people have been doing things like unranked to whatever top rank is in insert game for years. Unranked to gm, pred, radiant
It doesn't make sense that only low rank players can make multiple accounts, since they're just too bad to "smurf".

There really are just a whole crap ton of people out there who would do anything to build up an audience and make themselves look good. Also- Random (and probably completely pointless) thought- What if someone made a fake cheating software Like a software that makes you worse at a game- Like instead of aimbot it would move your cursor away from any enemies Or for wall hacks make your opponents invisible entirely Anyway- Seriously keep up the AMAZING work. I think for a cheating engine/software to get popular, it needs to be effective first. And then maybe it can suddenly twist and flip all its user up?
There is someone who makes fake cheats, they are called ScriptKid and they post videos of hackers who downloaded the fake cheats and how their games went with a replay mod

If his content relies on him staying in low ranks and hiding that fact from his viewers then yeah that'd definitely be ego stommping but if he's genuinely trying to climb put of each ranks as quickly as he can then that's fair enough to do. He even asked a riot employee for permission to do so before he actually did the stream and the employee gave him the green light

@@kazekami7313 not really, when people were asking him to press insert its because insert is the most common key cheats use to display their menu and someone that has previously cheated would also know that. same thing with searching specific keywords on an email, it would be easier for someone that has cheated before to know what kind of keywords to look for

Also, press Alt + Tab when you have at least 2 differet programs or anything opened. Because the shortcut one of them got tricked with IS a shurtcut built into windows, not a cheat specific one. edit : I can't find the specific command he got tricked with, but if I am wrong, I can defend myself with the misleading into said in the video, lol Its at : 3:35 edit2 : I found it...its Alt + esc, not alt + Tab.

Chill, it's just a game. Cheaters are lame, but they aren't criminals. I'd say a temporary ban and public shame is a fair punishment, with, of course, a blacklist and eternal ban in case of repeated cheats.

10:35 trying to get from lowest to highest sounds like an interesting thing to watch, but then you remember he's higher elo and making the game frustrating for the lower elo folks just trying to game. it's not as intriguing to see someone you already know is great doing well against people who arent on the same level as them. it'd be a lot more interesting having someone who's genuinely iron work their way up to immortal as fast as they possibly can. so, it should be either no one can smurf, or everyone can smurf.

I'd LOVE a TikTokers (and other platforms) caught copying series. Great part of why your videos are awesome is because of your script. So having it transferred to another kind of content but under the same "trickster" main theme would be awesome. Surely your audience will love it.

I am unhappy in COD Mobile (by Activision in case anyone doesn’t know) how many obvious cheaters don’t get detected. And in BR mode where most turn up I cant report them!

I remember back in the original MW2 boosting meant to team up with someone in a match to just kill eachother in a hiding spot for easy rank-ups and unlocks. My friends and I had done it some but eventually didn’t see the fairness in it and stopped (never got too far with it anyway). However, we’d gotten so good at finding places to boost that we flipped the script a bit and used the knowledge to hunt people who were boosting in matches. So much fun.

No matter what there’s always a Smurf issue, it’s not that bad until the highest elos intentionally drop to the lowest for an ego boost and (mostly) anywhere in between. I feel like there’s a difference between a Smurf and someone trying to reset their mmr because it feels like you cannot gain rank 🤷♂️ it’s still shunned by everyone though

Consider a situation where a pro loses all his placement matches due to shit luck such as having a troll team mate or griefing team mates. This make him place really low. Does that mean he is smurfing now that he is playing at lower ranking tryin to climb up?

A small extra detail about the cluster truck being 1 minute over the estimate time is they often overshoot the estimate time for safety of runtime of the event, meaning he couldn’t even hit a more forgiving time.

I am for banning not only smurf account but also his main account forever.
The thing with Timmy is that his "smurf" had the goal of starting from the bottom and getting to the top so he would only play against lower level people for a short period of time whereas a regular smurf would be staying in that lower level to continue finding matches in that level
Length of time is irrelevant... He still made loads of people lose games that they otherwise may not have if they were ranked against people of their own skill level, and he's done this multiple times so that's even less of an excuse
@@yguy1232 Maybe this might not work well in Valorant (I've never played Valorant so I can't comment on it), but similar types of series have popped up in other games like Rocket League (Road to SSL series) and I find it very informative and interesting when the content creator starts at the low level and talks about mistakes and ways to improve when looking at low level play. Idk if Timmy was doing anything informative like that, but that's my perspective with them. Also a lot of the people that do the run to the top rank series name their character something like "Road to SSL" so when you see that in competitive, you'd already know that you were in to get dumpstered.
@@DarkAoiishi What is your point? It does not matter at all to the players whether the smurf is analyzing and commentanting on his gameplay on his stream. They still ruin the match for those players who get matched up against him. It does not work in Valorant, CS, LoL, any competitive game really.
